Although the city itself is not a major tourist hotspot, Ouarzazate has established itself as a "base camp" or stopover for exploring the region, particularly for travelers on organized tours. As a result, there are dozens of hotels in the area, as well as campsites and other lodgings nearby. That said, the presence of film studios has also contributed to this hotel capacity.

The municipal campsite in Ouarzazate is located on the road to Skoura, at the eastern exit of the city, about 1 km from the Taourirt Kasbah. There is also a campsite on the road to Zagora, as well as others in the region.
