Nature-Adventure
Like other Andean countries, Bolivia, with its peaks, high plateaus, Amazon rainforest, and the Pantanal, has all the assets of a nature destination where outdoor activities are also plentiful.
Culture
While not as rich as Peru in this regard, Bolivia still offers interesting insights into its pre-Columbian past (including the UNESCO-listed site of Tiwanaku) and its Spanish heritage (Potosi, Totora, Sucre...). Beyond this historical legacy, it is above all the life and traditions of the diverse local populations, from the Andes to the Amazon, that remain largely "intact" and are well worth discovering.
Relaxation-Holidays
There are no opportunities or infrastructure for "relaxation-holiday-leisure" stays in Bolivia. The country is primarily a "nature-adventure" destination.
Independent Travel
Bolivia is a relatively accessible travel destination that doesn’t require extensive experience. However, it’s helpful to know some basic Spanish, as transport can be slow and subject to various delays, and local infrastructure may sometimes be limited, including in terms of comfort. In many ways, traveling in Bolivia feels a bit like how things were in Peru a few years ago...
Organized Travel
Bolivia is only moderately featured in travel agency programs and remains somewhat of a "specialist" destination, with offerings primarily focused on trekking or "adventure circuits."
