Religion

In Iceland, the state and religion are linked, and three-quarters of the population belong to the Church of Iceland, a Lutheran denomination that effectively serves as the state religion. As for the rest, they identify as Catholic, atheist, unaffiliated with any church, or part of various Protestant denominations—or even the Icelandic pagan religion Ásatrú, which was recognized as an official religion by the Icelandic government in 1973.
