UNESCO World Heritage Sites

The Seychelles have two sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list:

Aldabra, Seychelles
Aldabra (1982)
This tiny archipelago, located over 1,000 km south of Mahé, is a UNESCO World Heritage site for its giant tortoises.
Vallée de mai, Seychelles
Vallée de Mai (1983)
A UNESCO-listed coconut palm forest at the heart of Praslin, home to several animal species, including birds.

La Digue

The site is home to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Seychelles, highly photogenic with its white sand and striking rock formations.

Mahé

Off the coast of Victoria, this six-island marine park offers divers stunning seabeds that can also be explored on boat trips. Several islands (Round, Sainte Anne, Cerf) host hotel complexes.
Morne Seychellois National Park
This large park, known especially for its birds, is also home to the summit of the Seychelles.

Praslin

Cousin
This small island near the west coast of Praslin is home to birds and tortoises. Nearby, Cousine also serves as a bird sanctuary.

Curieuse
A large island north of Praslin with marine national park status. Hundreds of tortoises nest in this former leper colony, whose buildings can still be seen. Curieuse is also home to several thousand sea coconuts.
