Things to Do in the Seychelles
Beaches and Resorts
Diving
The Seychelles offer plenty of diving and snorkeling spots, with peak activity between March and May and then September and November, which are the best times to visit—though you can dive year-round. The island of Mahé and its surroundings are home to several well-known and popular diving spots, such as near Beau Vallon, the Saint Anne Marine Park with its stunning seabeds around the six small islands that make it up, or Thérèse Island, an uninhabited islet off the northwest coast of Mahé, very popular for diving and water sports.
Regardless of your level—beginner or experienced—there are several clubs on the main islands, as well as equipment rental options. Due to environmental preservation and the various marine reserves, spearfishing is not allowed in the archipelago.
Cruises and Boat Trips
One of the charms of the Seychelles is island-hopping within the archipelago. The range of options is quite broad, typically departing from Mahé, with varying durations, packages (and prices), and especially types of boats. Nothing "monstrous"—mostly sailboats, dhows, and other traditional vessels that make the trips enjoyable and allow you to dock (almost) anywhere you like.
Other Water Activities
Fishing: The best opportunities for deep-sea fishing (tuna, marlin, etc.) are between October and April.
Watersports: Thanks to the wind, especially in July and August, you can go windsurfing or kitesurfing in various parts of the archipelago.
Sailing:
Thalassotherapy and Wellness
The Seychelles offer renowned and high-quality thalassotherapy and wellness services, to the point that some travel agencies include themed stays in their programs. While most centers are part of hotel complexes, they are generally open to non-residents.
Golf
Hiking
Hiking
More than hiking, it’s more like walking, given the small size of the islands. Mahé offers the most possibilities, with around a dozen marked trails, some of which require a guide, such as the Morne Seychellois National Park, which is home to the country’s highest peak (905 m). The most pleasant time to walk is from May to September.
