What to Pack

At any time of year, pack light clothing plus a sweater for evenings or air conditioning. Don’t forget sun protection, rain gear in season, sunscreen, any medications, and mosquito repellent. A camera, memory card, adapter, charger, and flashlight are also essential items to include in your luggage.

Communications

Phone

International dialing code: (00 +) 248.

Internet

Internet access is available in most hotels—sometimes at a steep price. You may prefer to use cybercafés, where rates are much more affordable.

Mail

It’s best to post mail in Victoria, the capital, even though the service works fairly well elsewhere in the country.

Time Difference

Local time: Heure : 2382.

The Seychelles archipelago is on GMT+4, meaning it’s two hours ahead of France in summer and three hours ahead in winter.

Given the archipelago’s location, it enjoys nearly 12 hours of daylight year-round, with sunrise around 6:00 AM and sunset around 6:30 PM.

Electricity

220-240 volts (50 Hz) with British-style plugs (type G), so you’ll need an adapter (easily available locally) for French and North American plugs.

Opening Hours

Shops are open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a midday closure from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturdays. Banks are open weekdays from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM or 11:30 AM on Saturdays. Post offices operate Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or until noon on Saturdays.
