Bonjour. Je projette de traverser l'Australie dans quelque temps, et j'avais pensé acheter une moto d'occase à Darwin pour la revendre à Sydney. Est-ce-que certains ont déjà fait l'expérience d'une telle transaction ? Je pense qu'acheter n'est pas trop difficile, mais revendre ?
Quid des routes, des itinéraires ? Qu'est-ce-qui se fait bien à moto ? (je ne connais pas du tout l'Océanie)

je connais assez bien l'Australie (y est passé 10 mois entre 2000 et 2002) et particulièrement l'intérieur des terres (ai fait la traversée Perth-Gold Coast + 2 mois dans le désert à bosser dans un pub).
Donc ma réponse va peut-être te surprendre mais à première vue je ne sais pas si la moto est le plus adaptée à l'Australie, du moins pour le désert (on n'en voit très peu d'ailleurs, même dans les villes, certainement parce que les distances sur ce pays-continent sont trop grandes).
Explication: à 95%, l'Australie est un désert et le sable rouge s'infiltre absolument partout (on se mouche "rouge" même plusieurs jours après avoir quitté le désert). Il y a une quantité ahurissante de mouches à certains endroits (proches des cours d'eau, ce qui est logique) mais ce ne sont pas les bonnes vieilles mouches européennes qu'un simple geste de la main suffit à faire dégager, non... celles-ci te collent au visage, aux vêtements et ne partent plus, il faut le voir pour le croire ! Donc si jamais tu veux faire une pose et enlever ton casque pour prendre un peu d'air pur... c'est un peu la galère. À moins de partir en hiver (juillet-août, hémisphère sud), il faut être assez résistant aux insolations car il fait ultra chaud (40°C en moyenne en janvier - 25-30° en juillet, dans la moitié nord de l'Australie). Il faut savoir que la couche d'ozone au-dessus de l'Australie est plus fine qu'ailleurs - même si celle-ci a tendance à bouger - et donc le soleil est beaucoup plus agressif qu'en Europe. On dit qu'en général "l'âge de la peau" d'un Australien de 18 ans équivaut à celle d'un Européen de 30 ans... Ils font régulièrement des campagnes à la télé pour se protéger du soleil.
Voilà pour le désert, ce sont les grands inconvénients qui me viennent à l'esprit.
Par contre, je te conseillerais 2 choses : soit d'acheter une voiture à Darwin et de la revendre à Sydney, si tu restes sur ton idée de traverser le pays nord-sud, ce qui est un itinéraire très chouette pour les amoureux des grands espaces. Vendre et acheter une voiture (d'occas) se fait assez simplement car la pratique est répandue, l'Australie étant par excellence le pays des routards. soit de rester sur l'idée de la moto, mais de changer d'itinéraire (et là il y a le choix, vu les dimensions du pays). Les routes côtières sont des endroits rêvés pour les motards (par trop de déniveler mais parfois de beaux virages).
La plus belle est sans conteste "The Great Ocean Road", qui part de Melbourne vers l'Ouest (en direction d'Adelaïde donc) ou vice-versa. Elle passe juste au bord de l'Océan et offre de splendides vues, dont les célèbres "12 Apostles" http://www.mck.com.au/users/brett/images_ta/12Apostles03.jpg.
Il y a aussi la côte entre Perth et Shark Bay (1000 kms env.), et bien sûr le classique Sydney-Brisbane-Cairns (3200 kms env.). Sinon pour un trajet moins connu mais tout aussi enchanteur, il y a la Tasmanie, trop souvent oubliée (et pourtant ma préférée !), dont le tour (en 3 semaines env.) offre des paysages très variés et proches de ceux de la Nouvelle-Zélande.

j'ai fais en 89 une virée en moto en partant de perth droit vers l'est jusqu'a kalgoorlie puis cap au sud jusqua espérance puis retour vers l'ouest via Albany denmark pemberton augusta busselton bunburry et perth !!
ceci en 3 semaines environ en prenant le temps de quitter la grande route de temps en temps et de 's'arreter au hasard de nos rencontres !!!nous avions loué a l'époque chez un motociste, 2 moto d'ocaz pas very top mais pas mal quand meme un 750 kawa Ltd et un 650 yam XJ !! tout le periple en camping because hotel trop cher !! pour bouffer tu achete de la viande tu trouve un parc provincial et là il y a des barbecue electriques !! periode 19 octobre au 19 novembre c'est bien car pas trops cho !!ne pas rouler apres 18 h0 en dehors des villes because sortie des kangourou (je ne rigole pas )les mouches c vrai sont casse burettes mais il vendent des bombes super efficaces !!17ans apres g encores des souvenirs plein la tete et aussi plein mon PC car je viens de finir de scanner mes diapos de ce bo voyage !! les australiens ne m'on pas marqué car contact relativement superficiel (du genre je fais la foire avec toi et je te croise le lendemain avec un tout petit bonjjour sisi ç'est arrivé -- par contre contact tres facile dans les pub ou au camping ! car c vrai que les gens sont étonnés que l'on fasse ces distances en bécane !! attention aux flics ils sont un peu cons ! pas le droit de se garrer n'importe ou en ville (g eu une amende le 1er jour ) controle de vitesse possible n'importe ou meme en rase campagne où il y'a meme pas un kangourou !! voila c tout si tu a des quetion n'hesite pas !! pour ma pars j'y retournerai mais quand je serai en retraite pour plus lontemps hé oui g une cousine là bas !! pour l'instant j'aimeria faire la tchéquie ou peut etre retourner en rouler en 500 enfield du coté de l'hymalaya !! bonne route à toi sur cette grande ile !!!!

je suis francais et vie actuellement en Australie depuis 3 mois! J ai achete tout de suite en arrivant un mini van et vie dedans depuis! Donc par experience, acheter et vendre un veicule en Australie : c pas vraiment un probleme!!! Juste faire attention car tu dois enregistrer ton vehicule chaque annee ( appele Rego) et donc si tu achetes ton vehicule dans les territoires du Nord et que tu te retrouves dans l australie du sud alors que ta rego est echu, sois tu dois retourner presto dans le nord soit tu l enregistres dans le sud mais les demarches sont plus compliques! Donc bien regarder la duree de ta rego!
Sinon l Australie a moto, c une excellente idee! Je suis moi meme en train de passer mon permis moto ici, en Australie, pour me taper le tour de l australie ensuite! Mais effectivement, je vais me faire ca presto en 2 mois car, comme precise par les autres, c du HARDCORE en Tabarouette!!! Si tu veux de l aventure violente, a regreter ton choix pendant toute laq duree du trajet ( mais avoir les meilleurs souvenirs de vie par la suite!!), t as trouve ta voix!!!

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
