hi everyone. I usually exchange money at a bank in the city in every country, but this time I was being picked up by my guide, so I did it as quickly as possible and didn’t check my receipt. I don’t remember the exact amount the cashier scammed me out of, but it was significant when I recounted everything later. Two hours later, when my guide still hadn’t shown up, I ran into the police—a kind woman I explained the situation to—but it was too late because the cashier had already been replaced. Be careful and don’t do what I did. Check everything in front of them because afterward, it’s too late 😅

Good evening. Scam? You're jumping to conclusions pretty quickly. As you know, anyone can make a mistake. In this case, as you know, it was mostly you who made an error. You should always double-check, no matter the circumstances or place.

Sorry, but given the amount, I’m still calling it a scam!!!

..I really insist: don’t check on a large sum!! Keep that in mind next time.

Re-read my original post (I was in a hurry because I didn’t want to miss my guide). It was also past 11 PM, and yes, I messed up, but yes, he scammed me too.

hi,

Check everything in front of them because afterward it’s ruined

Why? Are there really people who don’t check?! Personally, I always check in front of the cashier and recount twice. And it’s not necessarily a scam—it could be a mistake on the cashier’s part. It happened to me once (in Africa) in my favor! It’s hard to explain, but I felt bad for the cashier, who would’ve been fired because it was also a large sum. It could also be a loss or a skilled pickpocket stealing between when you received the money and when you realized the so-called scam. Fatigue (it was after 11 PM), stress, or just being in a hurry might’ve worked against you too.

good evening. this is the first time I’ve heard someone complain about the exchange bureaus at the airport. Sure, the rate is worse in shops, and getting ripped off for four bills right outside the airport is one thing... but this!!!!! first time I’ve ever heard of this happening...

In my opinion, mistakes are rare but can happen... An example: In France, at my bank branch, I was once given a counterfeit bill (a very crude imitation) slipped into a stack of cash. My eye had subconsciously noticed the anomaly, but my brain didn’t register it (subliminal perception). I accidentally paid a craftsman with that money... He noticed it later. I got the fake bill back and took it to my bank. The teller was stunned but had no problem exchanging it for a real one!

It’s funny, but you often talk about mistakes and not scams, even though in this example, you don’t have proof that the teller slipped you the fake bill unknowingly. Sorry, but when I go to my bank, I do it reluctantly (last time, to bring my tax form—already mentioned in another thread—my advisor, who knows me very well because I’m a good customer with plenty of zeros in my account, I told her right away: "Don’t even try to sell me your crap, you know it won’t work with me." And while I was saying that, she was digging through my account, telling me: "You don’t have homeowner’s insurance, which is supposedly mandatory." Another proof that these people are like octopuses with tentacles (and I really raised my voice then), telling her: "You don’t listen to your clients at all, even though they pay your salary." She finally shut up, or I would’ve made a scene (no, I don’t have insurance, and I don’t give a damn about that poor girl). Seriously though!!!
