J5>Route jusqu'au Grand Canyon (environ 2h30/40) et visite (nuit sur place).
J6>Revisite du Grand Canyon le matin. Trajet jusqu'à Mexican Hat en s'arrêtant à Monument Valley pour voir le coucher de soleil.
J7> Revisite de Monument Valley le matin, puis trajet jusqu'à Page.
J8> Visite d'Upper Antelope Canyon vers midi, puis trajet jusqu'à Bryce. Nuit à Tropic.
J9> Visite de Bryce Canyon.
Nuit à Hatch.
J10> Visite de Zion NP.
Canyon Overlook Trail le matin.
Comme la randonnée Angels Landing Trail semble trop difficile pour nous, nous pensons faire la balade Emerald Pools Trail ou essayer The Narrows ?
Nuit à Mesquite (environ 1h30 de route).
J11> Trajet jusqu'à Frunace Creek (environ 3h10) et nuit sur place.
J12> Death Valley le matin, puis trajet vers Las Vegas.
J13> Las Vegas toute la journée
J14> Re-visite de Las Vegas le matin (le vol est à 18h)

J15> Arrivée à Paris
J'ai l'impression que les environs de Pages mériteraient peut-être 2 nuits, en sacrifiant autre chose.
Je suis actuellement entrain de me casser la tête entre 4 scénario :
1) - 1 seule nuit vers Page et en fin de séjour : 1 nuit à Death valley et 2 nuits à Las Vegas
2) - 2 nuits vers Page et en fin de séjour : 1 nuit à Death Valley mais 1 seule nuit à Las Vegas
3) - 2 nuits vers Page mais on élimine Death Valley pour terminer par 2 nuits à Las Vegas.
4) - 2 nuits vers Page mais on passe Zion NP quasiment sans s'arrêter (en partant de Hatch, Utah) pour faire : 1 nuit à Vegas, 1 nuit à Death Valley, puis dernière nuit à Vegas.
Mais je pense qu'on ne va pas profiter en choisissant ce scénario 4 => Fatiguant
En précisant que dans le scénario 1), la nuit à Furnace Creek étant un samedi, le tarif est hors de prix (plus de 200€ la nuit).
Pouvez-vous m'aider à faire mon choix par rapport à vos expérience svp ?

Si vs arrivez à 18.40 a LAX, comptez 2 heures pour les formalités d'immigration et recup le voiture.
Puis ensuite le temps d'aller à l'hotel... Vs ne ferez rien d'autre.
J8 J9 : pourquoi vouloir changer d'hotel entre TRPIC et HATCH... Restez à TROPIC
C'est suffisament fatiguant de changer souvent d'hotel.
Las Vegas ne vit que la nuit. Pourquoi y passer deux nuits et une journée complète ?
Si vous avez un jour à placer ailleurs, déplacez la journée à Las Vegas pour rester plus longtemps vers les canyons. Vous n'avez pas prévu de passer à Arches ? Dommage.
Sachez que les prix ont fortement augmenté cette année pour les grands parcs américains car l'Amérique fête cette année le centenaire de leur création. Il y aura beaucoup de monde et comptez environ 30% de plus par rapport aux années précédentes! D'où certaines chambres hors de prix.

Et bien comme nous allons visiter Monument Valley le J7, nous arriverons surement en fin d'après midi à Page, ce qui ne laisse pas le temps de faire grand chose.
Le J8 j'aurais aimé arriver à Bryce pour voir le coucher de soleil à Sunset Point.
Et passer par la Cottonwood Road si possible.
Donc le timing est serré en ayant fait Antelope Canyon avant.
Je pensais donc ajouter une nuit à Big Water (pas à Page car trop cher). De cette manière nous pourrons profiter du J8 entier pour visiter Antelope Canyon + profiter du lac Powell.
Et le J9 on profite du trajet tranquille pour aller jusqu'à Bryce.

Effectivement, ça risque d'être juste à l'arrivée à LA.
Du coup on parcourra Walk of Fame avant de partir pour Beverly Hills le J2.
Je souhaite changer d'Hôtel entre Tropic et Hatch car en partant de Hatch pour Zion, ça raccourci le trajet (environ 35 minutes de moins).
Et l'hébergement est moins cher à Hatch (20€ de moins).

Nous n'avons pas prévu Arches car cela aurait nécessité 2 ou 3 nuits de plus. Malheureusement 🙁

Je précise que ma copine fêtera ses 30 ans au cours du séjour, donc Las Vegas me semblerait être un endroit propice pour fêter ça ?
Si on dédie une soirée à un spectacle, une autre nuit semble nécessaire pour profiter du reste de la ville et le attractions des différents hotels non ?
Il faudrait faire la Scenic Drive de Monument Valley le J6 en fin d'après-midi pour avoir la meilleure luminosité. Le matin, beaucoup de points de vue sont à contre-jour.
En arrivant en tout début d'après-midi à Page, cela laisse le temps de faire Horseshoe Bend puis d'aller faire un tour au barrage et au bord du Lake Powell.
Le lendemain matin à la première heure, faire l'ouverture de Lower Antelope Canyon.
Une nuit suffit donc si on ne prévoir rien d'autre dans les alentours de Page.
En profitant de Grand Canyon le matin et en prenant le temps de s'arrêter aux différents point de vue sur Desert View Drive, je pense qu'on n'arrivera pas à Monument Valley avant 16h (heure d'Arizona).
J'aimerais voir le coucher de soleil depuis le Visitor Center et celui-ci se couchera vers 18h15 (heure d'Arizona).
Donc nous n'aurons pas le temps de faire la Valley Drive avant.
J'ai donc bien l'impression qu'on fera la Valley Drive le matin du jour 7.

Ainsi nous devrions arriver à Page vers 16h le J7.

Le J5 tu arriveras en début d'après-midi au Grand Canyon. Tu pourras faire Hermi's Trail ce jour-là jusqu'au coucher du soleil. Le lendemain matin, lever de soleil puis départ via la Desert View Drive où tu ne t'arrêteras pas à tous les points de vue.
Que comptes-tu faire pour n'arriver à Monument Valley qu'à 16 h ?
La Valley Drive prend entre 2 et 3h en effet.
Pour moi Lower est plus intéressant et ludique que Upper. Et il a l'avantage de pouvoir être fait tôt dans des conditions optimales au contraire de Upper, ce qui n'est pas négligeable dans un circuit au cordeau.
La Cottonwood Canyon Rd ne vaut la peine d'être parcourue que si on randonne du côté de Yellow Rock ou autre. Sinon, je ne vois pas trop l'intérêt, les paysages vus de la seule piste n'étant pas plus merveilleux que par la route principale.

Et bien pour une fois, je ne suis pas trop d'accord avec toi.
Même sans randonner, la CCR offre de bonnes portions très scéniques (plus que la route 89 via Kanab) :
- belles vues sur la faille de Cockscomb,
-Candyland/Cottonwoods Narrows,
-vues sur Yellow Rock (si on ose emprunter la Brigham Plains Road),
- paysages lunaires sur la fin,
- accès supérieur (donc par l’arrière) aux Paria RimRocks (il suffit de marcher 800m)
Et on n'est pas obligé de randonner longuement pour voir de belles choses (Grosvenor Arch s'admire sans effort🙂)
Évidemment, c'est encore mieux si on a le temps de s'y arrêter qq heures pour randonner plus longuement🙂

Je n'ai certes jamais pu la faire en entier d'un bout à l'autre 🏴☠️ mais de ce que j'ai vu à partir de Page ou de l'autre extrémité, Cannonville, je n'ai pas trouvé les paysages plus emballants que par la route 🙂, j'étais peut être trop bougon (du fait de son état) pour apprécier les paysages on va dire 😛

ça a dû t'influencer négativement (et puis les + belles portions ne sont justement pas situées à chaque bout)
Mais à force d'essayer, tu finiras bien par la voir ouverte lors de ton passage, et tu savoureras d'autant plus🙂

Je doute qu'il vous soit possible de faire grand chose le jour de l'arrivée. Cela dépendra du quartier de votre hôtel.
J2, vous pouvez ajouter VENICE BEACH, un peu plus au sud de Santa Monica. Beverly Hills n'étant pas loin de Hollywood, je vous recommande de faire HW d'une pierre deux coups, c'est à dire de faire le Walk of fame.
J3> Universal Studio
J4> Griffith Observatory le matin, puis route jusqu'à Kingman (environ 5h de route).
Griffith est sympa à faire le soir, c'est tout de même en centre d'observation des étoiles 😉. Sachant que ce n'est pas loin des universal studios, je vous recommande de filer direct à Griffith après les Studios. De cette manière, vous pouvez voir le soleil se coucher sur LA et le Hollywood sign.
Le matin avant le départ, pourquoi pas un petit tour à Old Pueblo? Sur la route pour Kingman, n'oubliez pas la route 66 avec Elmer bottle tree ranch et OATMAN ! j'insiste, OATMAN c'est juste incontournable !
J5>Route jusqu'au Grand Canyon (environ 2h30/40) et visite (nuit sur place).
Si vous ne randonnez pas, pas de rush, le matin, vous pouvez passer à BEARIZONA. C'est assez sympa. Hermit Rest Road à GC se fait en quelques heures et jusqu'au coucher de soleil. Le coucher de soleil à PIMA POINT est sympa.
J6>Revisite du Grand Canyon le matin. Trajet jusqu'à Mexican Hat en s'arrêtant à Monument Valley pour voir le coucher de soleil.
Un petit tour en hélico le matin c'est un must !! Ca vaut le coup de craquer sa tirelire et de prendre elle premier vol de la compagnie PAPILLON.

Sur la route, Navajo National Monument. balade de Betakin très sympa.

Effectivement, pourquoi ne pas dormir dans le même hôtel? C'est plus efficace que de changer. Si la route est ouverte et que vous avez un SUV, prenez la cottonwood road entre Page et Bryce. Près de Bryce, le parc de Kodachrome (rando angel palace trail 1h facile et chouette), Mosey cave (1h folie cascade).

Je pense que vous êtes trop gourmands. A votre place, je mettrai un jour de plus à Vegas et Valley of fire au lieu de Death Valley. Valley of fire est à 1h au nord de VEGAS. Après ZION, vous pouvez dormir à Saint Georges et profiter du matin à Snow Canyon et la fin de journée à valley of fire. A saint george, il y a le temple mormon à aller voir.

Je vote pour le 4 au prie des cas mais surtout pour supprimer Death valley et ajouter un peu d'air soit à Page, Saint Georges et VEGAS. A vegas, il y a beaucoup à faire et c'est le moment de se relaxer avant de repartir en France. Croyez-moi avec un tel rythme, vous serez sur les rotules 😉. After that, we’re heading to Sherbrooke to visit our daughter, who’s studying at the university there. We’ll spend 3 days with her, and then, since she has a break that week, we’re taking her along for 3 days in Quebec City.
We’ve planned to visit Montmorency Falls and Île d'Orléans.
I’d love to hear what route you’d recommend for the drive from Sherbrooke to Quebec City—we’ll have the whole day to take it easy.

Classic itinerary: arrival in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, Vancouver Island, departure from Vancouver.
I know you can’t see into the future any better than I can, so I’m obviously not asking what the wildfire situation will be like in a month...
But if any of you could let me know if, CURRENTLY, there are major difficulties—not just for locals, of course, but for tourists as well?
We’re hesitating between taking the chance or canceling what we still can.
We’re not young anymore and don’t have the flexibility we once did...

A friend is renting a car for an upcoming trip during the All Saints' holiday.
Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

My 16-year-old son is flying to Grand Rapids with other kids his age. There’s a layover in Detroit. There’s no unaccompanied minor service available. Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

**Parking:**
We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?
Hi there. I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. For those who’ve done both Lower and Upper, can you tell me if the price difference is really justified? Thanks

As you can see, we're heading back from September 6th to the 27th.

Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Just a little post that might interest some of you:
Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
