Bonjour à tous, je suis nouveau sur le forum, mais ai déjà lu pas mal de message qui m'ont bien aider pour préparer mon voyage en Norvège.
Je pars la semaine prochaine (sur un coup de tête) en Norvège. Nous sommes cinq à partir, et nous avons trouvé un vol vraiment pas cher via la compagnie Raynair. Bref, après des recherches diverses et variées sur ce forum ou sur plein d'autres site internet, je viens poser quelques questions.
J'ai tenter d'appeler l'office du tourisme de Norvège à Paris, mais ils sont en restructuration. Leur site est très bien fait, mais voici le mail que je leur ai envoyé:

Suite à mon appel à l'office du tourisme, je me permets de vous envoyer un mail pour obtenir quelques renseignements.
Nous partons en Norvège à 5 personnes du 26 au 30 mai de cette année. Nous avons déjà regardé quelques informations via votre site internet, un guide du routard, ainsi que d'autres sources.
Je vous propose de vous présenter ce que nous envisageons de faire, puis de vous poser quelques questions, afin que vous puissiez nous dire si c'est réalisable en cette période.
Voici approximativement ce que nous avons prévu :
Pour l'ensemble du séjour, nous prévoyons de faire du camping sauvage. Nous avons vu qu'en respectant la nature, et en plantant notre tente suffisamment loin des habitations, le camping sauvage était toléré.
- Atterrissage à Rygge dans le sud d’Oslo vers 11h20 le jeudi 26. Sur place, location d'une voiture (auparavant louée sur internet, Europcar), et route vers Oslo. Nous ne restons pas très longtemps à Oslo, une demi-journée tout au plus. Nous partons le soir pour une petite heure de route en direction Sundvollen pour dormir dans les alentours.
- Le lendemain matin, tôt, nous taillons la route jusqu'au lac de Tyin, à côté du parc du Jotunheimen. Sur place, dans la journée, randonnée pédestre dans les environs, puis camping sauvage le soir sur place. Si impossibilité de dormir, direction un camping à l'ouest du lac.
Après nous ne savons pas trop comment terminer notre itinéraire
- Le lendemain Matin, pourquoi pas se rendre au village de Finse. Pour se faire, nous partons vers Ardal, Laerdalsoyri, puis Aurlend, et Myrdal. Nous ne savons pas si la route entre Myrdal et Geilo en passant par Finse est praticable en voiture, ou même si il y en a une ! Nous dormirions dans ce cas là dans les alentours.
- Le dimanche, nous traçons le chemin du retour vers Rygge. Pourquoi ne pas prendre le ferry à Bruraviki pour traverser l'Hadrangerfjord et nous rendre à Eidfjord. Nous ne savons pas si la route E7 longeant le Eidfjordvatnet est praticable ! Mais nous souhaiterions rentrer par la E7 jusqu'à Geilo, puis la 40 jusqu'à Drammen, Drobak, puis nous dormons dans les environs si possible.
- Lundi matin, retour sur Rygge pour un avion en début d'après midi.
Voilà approximativement le trajet que nous souhaitons faire. Néanmoins, la priorité est de savoir s'il est réalisable pendant ce laps de temps. Et est-il possible de passer de Myrdal à Finse puis aller à Geilo en voiture ?

- Pensez vous que cet itinéraire est réalisable ?
- Qu'en est-il des routes que nous souhaitons prendre ? Praticables en voiture ? Au niveau des Fjords ?
- Quel est l'ordre de prix du carburant en ce moment ?
- Où pouvons nous acheter des cartes plus précises que du 1:1100000 (disponible sur votre site http://www.visitnorway.no)? Notamment pour faire des randonnées dans les environs de Tyin ou Myrdal. Nous avons trouvé ce site :www.aventurenordique.com…
- Comment fonctionnent les péages ? Nous avons cru lire que nous pouvions enregistrer notre carte bleu sur un site en France et payer automatiquement en Norvège...
- Pour ce qui est de la nourriture, est-il envisageable de faire du feu ? Ou bien acheter un réchaud sur place et s'en servir ? Apporter des boites de conserves pour 5 jours suffit-il ?
- Quelles sont les températures moyennes sur notre itinéraire le jour et la nuit ?
- Que pensez d'important devons nous amener dans notre sac, auquel nous n'avons pas pensé ?!
- Y a-t-il des douches publiques sur notre trajet ?

En réalité depuis l'envoi de ce mail, nous avons pu préciser quelques points.
Nous allons en effet prendre l'itinéraire présenté sur google map (cf lien), et j'ai pu trouver toutes les cartes au 1:25000 de la Norvège sur mon ordinateur. Donc sur le point de l'itinéraire, je pense qu'on est fixé.
Mais le problème réside dans notre alimentation... Pouvons nous faire du feu pendant cette période ? Qu'en est-il des douches des campings ? Nous faisons du campings sauvage...
Si vous avez des recommandations, ou des réponse à mes interrogations, je suis preneur !

je vais faire court car j ai pas beaucoup de reponse a vous apporter si ce n est celle de la bouffe.
j avais apporter un rechaud et acheter les bouteilles de gaz sur place. ca se trouve facilement sur place a oslo.
avec le rechaud on se fesait bouillir de l eau et on avait des lyophilisé.
essayez les drytech, ils sont super bon bien qu assez cher ( 6 euros piece je crois). A eviter le soir car trop calorique!

La route qui relie Myrdal à Geilo via Finse est quand même celle qui relie les deux principales villes du pays. C'est souvent rock'n'roll en hiver, mais en mai pas de souci c'est ouvert. Pour les axes secondaires, jetez un oeil à votre carte qui doit préciser les périodes d'ouverture. Il y a aussi des sites web pour ça, j'ai vu des liens sur ce même forum...
Côté climat aujourd'hui il fait 15 à Oslo, (8 la nuit) c'est dans la moyenne. Avant hier j'étais à Finse, il neigeait. Normal, c'est à 1200 m d'altitude. Et pour le camping sauvage la haut sur la hardangervidda, oubliez pas la pelle (et la doudoune), il y encore presque un mètre de neige à Finse. C'est magnifique en cette saison, vous allez vous régaler!!! Dans les campings officiels, j'ai toujours été agréablement surpris par la qualité et la propreté des sanitaires. Je crois qu'on peut prendre une douche dans les certaines stations service, à vérifier quand même j'ai jamais fait.
Le printemps a été sec comme jamais ici, il y a eu pas mal d'incendies : les feux de camps sont très mal vus ces temps-ci en forêt. Sur les plateaux de la hardangervidda ça pose je pense moins de problème. Vous pourrez vous procurer un réchaud dans n'importe quel magasin de sport. Vous pouvez emmener vos boites de conserves, mais au prix des bagages sur ryanair, ça vaut peut-être le coup quand même de vous les acheter sur place.
Le prix du gasoil est environ 10% plus cher qu'en France en ce moment. Pour les péages automatiques, le total de votre trajet est le plus souvent retenu sur la caution que vous laissez au loueur. C'est le plus simple. Vous pouvez aussi utiliser votre téléphone portable. Demandez à Europcar à Rygge comment ils fonctionnent. Un truc, précisez un peu à l'avance à votre loueur que vous souhaitez partir en montagne et demandez lui s'il faut des pneus-neige.

Tu veux venir avec nous ? Nous avons loué une voiture pour cinq, et nous sommes cinq... Et vu que les norvégiens n'ont pas l'air à cheval sur la réglementation routière, je ne pense pas quie c'est une bonne idée de te prendre avec nous dans le coffre. Je l'avais déjà fait durant un voyage, mais c'était au Mexique 😛

Je pense que nous allons passer par Myrdal, voir l'état de la route, et faire demi-tour ou bien bifurquer vers Uppsete (à l'ouest) dans le cas ou ce n'est pas praticable. On récupère ensuite notre itinéraire initial vers Vossavangen.
pour la nourriture prends plutot ds produits chers comme le chocolat , le cafe , des conserves (style paté , cassoulet) les nouilles et le riz ce n'est pas si cher que cela

faire un feu c'est à déconseiller ; c'est risqué ça laisse des traces...
attention avec un réchaud à cartouche genre camping gaz.

Tu ne peux pas emporter de cartouche de gaz en avion.
C'est pour cela que j'ai un réchaud à essence auto.
Une fois que tu as terminé tu peux aller dans une station service redonner le restant de carburant..

oui c'est une route en terre d'après mes souvenirs.
C'est une belle ballade mais il y a également d'autres endroits en Norvège.
Le long de la route Myrdal Flam il y a des tunnels et des torrents.
Pour visiter Oslo une journée ou deux c'est suffisant c'est une petit ville...

tu l'abandonnes c'est pour ça que dans certains campings proche des aeroport on peut trouver des cartouches usagés (voir de la nourriture) laissé par les voyageurs
neanmoins l'avantage de l'essence c'est qu'on en trouve partout et que cela fonctionne meme par grand froid (sinon il faut prendre des cartouches avec du propane )
l'inconveniants : le prix du rechaud , le prechauffage est qq fois un peu "sport"

Quelques précisions : venir avec vous, c'était pour la blague bien sûr, je ne suis pas du genre à taper l'incruste. Jeudi 26 je bosse, ça va donc être difficile pour la visite guidée. Si vous voulez visiter le musée maritime de Norvège à Oslo faites moi quand même signe c'est la que je travaille.
Le coup des péages débités de ta caution, c'était avec rent-a-wreck. Avec Europcar et les autre loueurs normaux, c'est eux qui règlent dans un premier temps, puis ton compte est débité automatiquement du total de tes péages à peu près une semaine après avoir rendu la voiture. Pas de démarche particulière, donc.
Pour la route de myrdal tu as raison, c'est moi qui ai la mémoire qui part en sucette. L'E16 passe bien au nord. Votre itinéraire je l'ai pris en voiture il y a longtemps, et l'autre jour j'étais en train. Pas de photos de Finse sous la main, mais y'en a sur google image ou goolge earth.
Dernier truc à ne pas oublier, si vous avez l'intention de prendre l'apéro au coin du réchaud le soir, emmenez vos bouteilles (trois bouteilles de vin ou une d'alcool fort par personne max). Ici c'est super cher et les vinmonopolet (magasins d'état, ce dernier a le monopole de la vente d'alcool au dessus de 5°) sont rares en pleine cambrousse.

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
We’re a group of 4 heading out at the end of June for 11 days.

We’ll be renting a regular car, not a 4x4.
