apres l'ouest américain et Bali, me voici de retour pour un nouveau voyage en préparation : 3 semaines au Pérou et en Bolivie
Ce que nous aimons : les grands espaces, les gens, les randos, les chouettes paysages...

A mon avis Cuzco - La Paz ca peut etre sport a faire en une journee.
Sinon ton expedition au Sud Lipiez tu la fait depuis La Paz ??? Comment ? Normalement ca se fait depuis Uyuni et en tour organise ca prend 4 jours avec retour a Uyuni. Si tu as suffisamment d'argent tu peux faire ca sur mesure...

je suis péruvien, et normalement les billets en avion pour étrangères sont plus chère, mais sur starperu, sont mois chère, donc vas la-dessus: http://www.starperu.com/, et sinon je vois que ton itineraire c'est faisable, mais je pourrais oser à te conseiller que le bus que tu prends directament depuis le cuzco vers la paz, tu peut t'arrêter à Puno pour voir le Lac titicaca côte peruvien , il y a de beux endroits à voir la-bas, et après reprendre le bus pour y arriver à la Paz, voila ;)

Je zapperais les 3 jours dans le Canyon del Colca et les 3 jours de grimpette Potosi pour aller voir le Lac Titicaca (Les 2 côtés ou un des 2 si tu manques de temps) et la ville de Sucre (un jour et demi environs) avant d'arriver à La Paz et en venant de Potosi.
Après si tu es fan de grimpette et de rando, effectivement tu vas pas être d'accord.
Par rapport à ton itinéraire :
J6 : 1 seul jour à Cusco après avoir passé la nuit dans le bus et pour commencer l'inKa Trail le lendemain, ça me parait short, surtout que Cusco mérite beaucoup beaucoup plus qu'un jour ...
Entre J10 et J11, il te manque 1 journée, celle qui t'emmène à Uyuni de La Paz, à moins que tu fasses le trip du Sud Lipez/Salar en 3 jours/2 nuits.
J14 pareil, il te manque une journée pour arriver à Potosi.
Il y a des transports sur ton itinéraire qui me paraissent un peu irréalistes...
le jour 10, tu es donc au MP et de là en 24 heures tu espères rejoindre le salar d'uyuni... A mon avis c'est infaisable, il faut que tu rajoutes AU MOINS 1 jour.
Arequipa un jour, c'est dommage, pour moi c'est la plus belle ville du Pérou...
Cusco un jour, vraiment dommage aussi.
Tu zappes le lac titicaca et Sucre, dommage également, mais de toute façon en 3 semaine tu ne peux pas tout faire, il faut choisir...
Si tu es fan de grimpette, à Arequipa tu peux envisager le Misti, très sportif, en remplacement du canyon de colca pour gagner du temps.
ok, j'ai essayé de remanier tout cela, dites moi si c'est mieux, tout en sachant que j'ai 3semaines donc je suis obligée de choisir...
j'aime bien les treks, et donc j'en ai un avec le Macchu Picchu et un autour de Potosi,

Moi j'ai pas aimé le Canion del Colca et j'ai adoré le lac Titicaca. Il y a une aussi super rando à faire d'une journée sur l'îsla del Sol côté Bolivien.

Surtout pas. 3n/4j c'est le minimum. Et moi je conseillerais plutôt la boucle Tupiza-Tupiza (voir Tupiza-Uyuni), donc dans l'autre sens. Finir par le Salar. (Sachant que le Salar on y reste 1 matinée quelque soit la boucle). Mais vu ton manque de temps, ce sera Uyuni-Uyuni.

Commence par regarder les différentes possibilités de billets d'avion et les horaires des vols (sans forcément les acheter) et tu seras fixée sur tes horaires d'arrivée à Lima.

1/2 journée pour visiter le monastère, donc ça va être vraiment juste pour flâner en ville. Mais tu as peu de temps. Donc faudra faire avec.
JOUR 6, Vendredi, CUSCO : visite VILLE (place d'armes, l'Eglise des Jesuites, le Koricancha, la pierre à douze angles, les ruines de Saqsaywaman, Kenko, Puka-Pucara et Tambomachay)
Délirant. Pour les ruines de Saqsaywaman, Kenko, Puka-Pucara et Tambomachay, il faut 1 journée. Aller les 3/4 d'une journée en partant le matin tôt et en rentrant à Cusco en milieu d'après midi. Tu comprendras que ça risque d'être chaud pour flâner ensuite Plaza des Armas, Plaza San Blas...
D'autant plus que tu arriveras en bus de nuit d'Arequipa (ce que j'avais fait) vers 6H du matin et tu seras épuisée. Rien que monter Plaza San Blas, la ou je cherchais un Hostal, ce fut dur avec l'altitude...

Je ne pense pas car tu dois passer la frontière et elle ferme dans les environs de 18h. Il doit y avoir des bus direct, à vérifier mais pour te donner un ordre d'idée, Cusco-Puno c'est environ 6/7h de bus. Puno-Copacabana 4h avec le passage de frontière et Copacabana-La Paz, 3h.
Je répète donc qu'il te manque un jour pour arriver à Uyuni. Ne compte pas visiter La Paz à ce moment de ton séjour.

Ca dépend de tes goûts. Moi j'aime pas trop randonner. J'ai beaucoup apprécié Sucre pour flâner.
Il fait beau, le ciel est bleu, la ville est blanche. 1 jour et demi à Sucre vaut vraiment la peine à mon avis.
juste une info, bus de nuit pour la Paz ça ne marche pas car la frontière est fermée a partir de 18h. Il te faudra attendre le lendemain matin.
Aussi Cuzco, Puno il faut compter 7h (pour être réaliste) Puno-Copacabana (frontière) envrion 3h, et Copacabana La paz 3h30.
De la Paz, une douzaine d'heures pour arriver a Uyuni en passant par Oruro. Donc quand meme un 27h de bus depuis Cuzco sans compter les transferts, la douane, et les imprévus.
Je lis aussi que tu aimes la montagne et les treks... l'inca trail risque d'un peu te décevoir si c'est le coté trek qui t'interesse. C'est vraiment très beau comme endroit, rien a dire la dessus et au niveau culturel la valllée sacrée est tres interessante mais c'est aussi une longue file de touristes en ligne pour arriver au Machu pichu. Voir aussi la faisablilité de ton projet (le chemin de l'inca est apparemment fermé en ce moment et jusqu'a quand, pas mal d'infos sur le forum). Rien ne t'empeche de découvrir la vallé sacrée sanss faire le chemin de l'inca.
Le rapport ''qualité prix'' de l'inca trail est pour moi bien en deça de ce que tu peux faire dans la cordillere blanche (Huaraz) ou tu trouveras des treks divers et variés, et ou tu pourras te perdre dans l'immensité andine et découvrir un côté a mon sens plus authentique du Perou et de ses habitants.
Pour le Salar, tu peux aussi trouver une compagnie directement sur place a Uyuni (plus de 100 agences) et ne t'en fais pas ils seront la a ton arrivée en bus ou en train.
La region de Potosi est sympa mais la encore ca ne serait pas mon choix numero 1 pour un trek en Bolivie, Sorata et sa region oui (ca n'engage que moi encore une fois)
Voila pour mon humble avis, je reste dispo si tu veux plus d'infos.
Ce qui est un peu con, c'est que tu n'as pas dit quand tu comptais partir (où alors je n'ai pas tout lu), car durant la saison des pluies, le Salar de Uyuni est sous eaux et une simple liaison "Uyuni-Potosi" peut prendre plus de deux jours : voir photos ci-dessous.
Très sec, mais également très froid durant la nuit dans le sud Lipez notamment ... on ne peux pas tout avoir !
Attention, à cette époque, la température peux descendre à -20°C durant la nuit, mais si tu pars avec machin-chose-chouette organisé et tralala, pas de problème !!!!!

Tu pars donc 4 semaines et plus 3 ? Vu que tu viens de décrire un itinéraire de 4 semaines, je comprend pas...

Je me suis arrêté à l'après midi du jour 7, qui est infaisable.
en fait, on va partir 3 semaines et demi, car en terme de congés, 4 semaines, c'est trop...

Voila voila. Personnellement, je trouve ton itinéraire HALLUCINANT.
pour le vol, rien de réservé pour le moment, j'ai juste fait une simul sur Go voyages qui m'a permis de voir qu'en partant le matin à 9H de Roissy ou Orly, on pouvait arriver en fin de journée sur Arequipa, en passant par Lima
pour le pt 2, tu as raison, il faut repasser par Arequipa, le trek ds la canyon sur 2 jours est d'ailleurs organisé de Arequipa.
pour l'inca trail, oui, c'est un trek vu sur perutreks.com qui part de Cuzco et qui se termine à Cuzco
pour Uyuni, aucune idée, il faut que je creuse ce point...
pour Sucre - la Paz, on effectue le trajet de nuit en fait, c'est un mauvais copier coller...
voilou, je sais que c'est chargé, mais bon, pas evident de faire des choix entre tout ca, j'ai essayé d'equilibrer entre des treks, et des moments un peu + cool,

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

02/12: Return to Bogotá via Laguna de Guatavita (5 hrs). Is it worth the detour? Overnight in Bogotá.
03/12: Flight to Pereira. Drive to Salento. Overnight in Salento.
04/12: Cocora Valley (hike among the wax palms) followed by a drive around the area. Are there any waterfalls or other sights nearby?

Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina),
Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.

Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?
In France, banks don’t issue credit cards, right—or am I mistaken?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...

But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.
