Je dois être à Hanoi le 25 avril pour rejoindre mes parents à un congrès pendant 5 jours. Je veux cependant passer un mois et demi dans tout le Vietnam (avant ou après leur rencontre). J'arrive à BKK le 21 janvier et je veux aussi voir le Laos et le nord de la Thailande avant....(et peut-être la Birmanie et le Cambodge!!) Alors... Difficile de marier mon itinéraire avec leur rencontre.... !
Tout ça pour dire que crois qu'il me serait plus facile d'arriver le 25 avril à Hanoi (par le nord du Laos) et d'ensuite descendre vers le sud jusqu'à la mi-mai... MAIS j'ai peur de me faire prendre par les pluies !!!!
Alors vous me direz sûrement de commencer mon périple à partir de Saigon vers la mi-mai pour ensuite monter vers le nord et arriver à Hanoi pour la fin avril ??

1: Quel est le meilleur itinéraire pour le Vietnam ? Du Nord au Sud ? ou du Sud au Nord ?
2 : Est-ce une bonne période pour visiter le Vietnam durant le mois de mai ? Je sais que cela dépend des régions :

15 mars au 25 avril : Saigon à Hanoi
ou
20 avril au 10 juin : Hanoi à Saigon
J'aurai tendance a dire qu'a vos periodes, le climat est impec partout au Vietnam.
Par contre, votre projet Thailande/Birmanie/Cambodge/Laos, c'est une autre histoire. La Birmanie est magnifique., mais on n'y rentre et sort qu'en avion, donc c'est du Bangkok-Yangoon-Bangkok. Le nord de la Thailande n'est pas mal, mais compare au Nord du Vietnam, c'est rien du tout, donc...
Voila mon avis (evidemment ps partage par tous) : Thailande-Cambodge (4j MINIMUM au fabuleux Angkor)-Laos du Sud au Nord- Entree au Vietnam par DBP-visite du Nord: Lai Chau-Sapa-Bac Ha-la region de Ha Giang si vs avez le temps, puis retour sur Hanoi, visites, Hanoi-Ninh Binh (pour Tam Coc, la baie d'Along terrstre a 6km de Ninh Binh) en bus public (1h30), NB-Hue(2j) en train de nuit, Hue-Danang/Hoi An en bus de jour, Hoi An-Saigon en train de nuit.
Pour le Nord, VOILA !

Par experience, ongue de pusieurs annees, je vousconseillerai e re;ier choix, commencer a Saigon ou il ne leut pas encore et iol fait beau et chaud et finir par Hanoi ou le beau temps ensoleille commence dans les premiers jours d avril, au plus tard le 10/15 avril.

Nous avons fait le Vietnam en 2009 du 15 Avril au 15 Mai du sud au nord.
Du fait nous avons évité les pluies du sud et nous avons eu des températures plus clémentes dans le nord.
Si tu as le temps n'hésites pas à faire les marchés du nord de Can Cau et de Bac Ha c'est super.

😉 Coucou, c'est mon 1er jour sur le forum et voilà qu'à ma 2 ème question, alors que je prépare un voyage au Vietnam, je vous retrouve !
Vous allez peut-être pouvoir m'aider ? Je pensais me balader dans le pays du Nord au Sud, pour moi, il était plus logique de commencer par Hanoi, la baie d'Halong, Lao Cai, Sapa, ect... et finir 3 semaines plus tard dans le Sud et 2 ou 3 jours farniente et chaise longue quelque part, peut-être sur l'ile de Phu Quoc avant le retour en France ?! Mais par rapport à la météo c'est peut-être mieux de le faire dans l'autre sens ? Commencer début Avril par Saigon, la 2 ème dans le centre du pays et 3 eme semaine au Nord de Hanoi ? ainsi, je suivrai le beau temps et le ciel dégagé ? La pluie ne me gêne pas, mais comme je suis une passionnée de photos, la clarté avantage mes clichés !!!
Dans ce cas là, où pourrait se faire ma petite pause hôtel- piscine-bord de mer dans le centre du pays ? J'aime crapahuter, prendre le temps de m'arrêter, faire un mélange de logement chez l'habitant, guest-house, hôtel...mais m'offrir 1 fois par semaine un hôtel superbe (mais dépaysant).
Voici plusieurs questions en 1 seule : comment faire au mieux dans le sens du voyage et dans les arrêts ???

Pour le climat, vous avez tout compris.... au début avril à Ho Chi Minh ville, ce ne sera que le début de la saison des pluies, c'est à dire qu'à part une bonne rincée d'une heure et demie dans l'après-midi ou en début de soirée, vous aurez un super climat chaud, ensoleillé, agréable, vous permettant d'oublier toute garde-robe chaude.... - en remontant, pareil, un peu moins chaud, quoiqu'en ce moment... il fait chaud déjà... - quant à finir sur Hanoi et sa région, c'est à dire après le 20 avril vraisemblablement, ce sera le meilleur - vous n'aurez pas encore aussi chaud qu'en mai, mais ce sera tout bon pour la clarté et les photos. -
Quant à loger chez l'habitant... n'y pensez-pas trop, ça demande des formalités du proprio auprès de la police, comme vous ne faites que passer, ce serait bien du temps de perdu et puis ca n'apporte pas grand chose en plus : vous allez vous heurter au problème du mur de la langue, une véritable grande muraille😄 et vous trouverez la même convivialité, dans les guesthouses , avec, en plus, des touristes du monde entier qui ont envie de partager votre bonheur de découvrir ce pays.... croyez moi sur parole, allez plutôt dans ces guesthouses, il y en a partout, de la plus simple à la plus "sophistiquée" si je puis dire, ; les super hôtels que vous avez envie d'aller voir, je pense que vous trouverez facilement, sans même retenir..., Pour votre séjour balnéaire avec piscine, il y a effectivement à Hoi An ce type d'établissement - il y a pas mal de forumistes qui avaient donné des adresses : je pense qu'on vous les redonnera mieux que moi. -
Je suis statique sur Hanoi, et connais la périphérie mais en "locale" - c'est à dire des bus que je ne vous recommanderais pas....ne serait-ce que parce qu'il faut connaitre leur itinéraire... qui change au gré de l'humeur des drivers.... ah oui le Vietnam, c'est folklo!! - mais ça vaut vraiment le coup, vous verrez...
Pour les sorties en Baie d'Ha-long et à Sapa, vous avez la faculté de passer soit par une des nombreuses agences d'Hanoi, ou directement par l'intermédiaire de votre hôtel - C'est rapide, c'est généralement pas mal fait, ce n'est pas très onéreux, vous avez plusieurs possibilités pour la Baie d'Ha-long, sur une, deux ou trois jours - vous pouvez même prendre une visite de l'Ile de Quan Lan (beaucoup plus au nord) sur la baie de Tu Long - c'est plus récent, les plages sont encore un peu vierges, c'est sympa, mais le tourisme n'en est qu'à ses débuts... Renseignez vous dans les agences : vous aurez tout : les formules, les prospectus, les prix, etc... - Quant à Sapa, en général on fait ça sur trois ou quatre jours - départ et retour par le train de nuit Hanoi-Lao Cai (navette de Lao Cai à Sapa) - sympa..

Comme je me suis presque décidée à partir du jour au lendemain (pas très sérieux je sais !), c'est la seule chose qui me retient ; je me demandais s'il était complètement délirant d'envisager une arrivée dans une semaine si la demande de visa était faite aujourd'hui même par ce biais : les sites comme myvietnamvisa, qui proposent des visas à l'arrivée, parlent de deux jours de délai pour recevoir la lettre d'approbation à présenter à l'aéroport.

Oui vous pouvez demander le visa on arrival : vous avez tous lres renseignements pour remplir le document en ligne : billet d'avion, pour les dates, passeports valides, deux photos, - je n'ai jamais conseillé myvisa que je ne connais pas, moi j'ai toute confiance en aca-voyages. sans doute parce que c'est tout en français et que ça évite les erreurs...
Il fait chaud actuellement à Hanoi, on est en t-shirt - allez-y, ce ne sont pas les guesthouses qui manquent dans le quartier des 36 corporations..... - vous aurez du choix, c'est un bon mois pour découvrir le Vietnam - Si après vous allez au sud, il pleuvra... mais pas tout le temps, et puis il fait chaud !!! ça nous change de la métropole....

Non, ce cas de figure est expliqué sur le formulaire de demande : si le billet d'avion n'est pas encore acheté, on peut remplir le formulaire en donnant comme date de début le premier jour où l'on est susceptible d'arriver (mais on peut arriver plus tard). Pour l'expiration du visa, c'est un mois après le jour demandé, même si on entre dans le pays quelques jours après. Enfin, c'est ce que j'ai compris !

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
