Disconnected but still showing as active on VoyageForum?

Hi, Disconnected from all browsers, on all devices (but of course logged back in to post this message), I still appear online and active.

What I mean is, when I refresh (while logged out) the "who's online" page, my profile doesn’t move down the list... it even regularly jumps back to the top as if I were active on the site.

I’ve checked several times...

Any explanation?

Hi there,

You must be new around here . For me, I think it’s always been like this—having your profile pop back to the top is less common, but it’s probably some cache or proxy thing.

As for me, I think that

You’re mistaken. Eighteen years of experience give me some knowledge about how the site works—the cache, the proxies, and so on.

When you log out, you still appear online for about 30 minutes, but your profile moves down the list, and after those 30 minutes, the actual time of your last connection is displayed.

In my specific case this morning, on several occasions: After being logged out for 45 minutes, not only did I still appear connected, but my profile kept moving back to the top of the "who’s online" page—as if someone else was in control and continuing to browse VF.

Strangely, the situation returned to normal once I opened this discussion... but the last connection time displayed was well after my actual logout time.

For the site administration: A few years ago, after clicking on a link received in a PM, I ended up on the sender’s account. One tab open with my Kola account, another tab with the other member’s account. I could have posted a message under their username, read their PMs...

François was alerted right away and explained the how and why (I didn’t understand much), why it had actually been possible, and why it wouldn’t happen again.

Any explanation for this morning’s anomaly?

... I never timed how long you stay shown as online after logging out. Well, as long as it doesn’t mean someone’s logging in as you without your knowledge, it’s not a big deal. The technical explanations will come… or not.

Michel

PS: It’s funny how you announced your seniority… Personally, I’d rather not know.
