Hi there, I’m struggling to organize this move from my storage unit near Avignon in France to my future address in Essaouira, especially since I’ve already booked my flight with checked baggage. I’d like to ship the rest of my furniture and personal items as soon as I find an unfurnished rental. Thanks for your advice!

So, you need a boat, then?

Hi there, In all medium-sized towns in France, there are parcel carriers that serve all of Morocco. They deliver packages by weight and items (appliances, furniture, bikes, etc.). For some items, there’s a flat-rate fee that’s not insignificant due to Moroccan customs. Transport is usually done by van, and it should be possible to book a private trip. If that’s not enough, there are also container shipping services by boat or truck. Given the prices, it’s worth thinking about. It often costs less to buy things locally.

You’ll need to contact a freight forwarder who’ll handle everything and provide you with an end-to-end quote (from door in Avignon to door in Essaouira, either by air or sea freight depending on volume). This includes road transport, export customs, insurance, freight, customs clearance on arrival, and delivery to your home in Essaouira. I’d suggest reaching out to several to compare quotes. There are forwarders who specialize in international moves.
