Hi everyone, has anyone been to Shingwezi Camp in the northern part of Kruger Park? I read on the SanParks website that the drive from Phalaborwa Gate to Shingwezi Camp takes 12 hours🤯. Can anyone confirm this? When I check Google Maps, it shows a 5-hour trip?? Thanks for your replies 😅

Hi there,

You should plan for an average speed of 25 km/h during the safari. That means taking the time to observe the animals a bit.

Otherwise, the speed limit on the tarmac is 50 kilometers per hour.

135 kilometers will take about 3 solid hours if you're just driving, or 6 hours if you're taking your time to enjoy the sights.

(Are you sure you entered the right points? I get 2h40 on Google Maps ???)

I found the 12 hours on the Sanparks.org site and their table of distances and driving times from one camp to another, from one gate to a camp. This morning, I was able to contact the Shingwedzi camp, which told me it’s about 4 hours, depending on photo stops, of course. Thanks for your help and have a great day.

4 hours is already more reasonable! 😉

Enjoy your stay.🙂
