Nous sommes en train de visionner nos prochaines vacances pour cet été et nous avions pensés à "KeyWest" aux USA, dans un "Bed & Breakfast" ou bien, genre de petit "cottage" avec cuisinette ou encore un p'tit appart bien situé ?
Nous pensons séjourner environ entre 10 à 14 jours et être au centre de tout à pied, sans devoir prendre un véhicule nécessairement. Nous sommes moi, mon copain et notre fille de 16 ans et nous ne recherchons pas un endroit d'où c'est la fiesta, mais un endroit sympathique.
Nous aimerions faire de la plage, faire du shopping, aller manger dans les p'tits bistros, visiter les musées ou autres.... la belle vie quoi ! RELAXER AUSSI !
Je fouille présentement pour des billets d'avion, mais les prix sont quand même assez dispendieux... Ouille ! 🤪 Je me demandais le nom de l'aéroport que nous devions atterrir ? Que devons nous observer comme nom d'aéroport ? Est-ce que c'est loin de KeyWest ?
Donc, on est en train de se demander si nous devrions pas y aller en voiture, vu que nous sommes déjà allés à Disney à Orlando dans l'état de la Floride... il faut compter facilement 3 jours de route aller et 3 jours de route au retour, ce qui me tente un peu moins ici ! 😐 Pffff !!! 😕
Mais si vous connaissez un bon endroit d'où loger à un bon prix selon mes critères, j'en serais bien heureuse d'en prendre connaissance !??? 🙂

Il y a bien un aéroport à Key West, mais si c'est la 1ère fois que tu y vas, il faut absolument y aller par la route, qui est magnifique (nombreuses et longues portions sur ponts au dessus de l'océan, îles traversées souvent sympas), et finalement pas si longue (le trajet depuis Miami se fait facilement en une journée).
Pour les hotels, tout y est cher. Je me souviens, parmi les "abordables", du Hampton Inn, qui a une belle vue sur l'océan au coucher du soleil, et une piscine agréable (mais pas de plage). Il y a aussi (mais je ne connais pas) de nombreux B&B, et beaucoup de vieilles maisons en bois en location.
Autrement, c'est sympa, tropical, mais aussi très "spécial" à en être parfois géné !
Pour que tu réalises mieux : la 1ère fois que j'y étais, avec mon épouse, j'avais acheté un tee shirt marqué Key-West, que j'ai eu le malheur de porter à NYC, quelques jours plus tard, seul, et là j'ai vraiment compris mon erreur. Avec ce teeshirt, je me faisais aborder sans arret dans la rue par des hommes me disant que eux aussi connaissaient K.W., et appréciaient beaucoup. Bref, ce Tshirt paraissait être un signe, et j'ai dû revenir au plus vite à mon hotel pour en changer (ce Tshirt a fini à la poubelle à NY).
En fait, s'il y a bien une minorité de gens "normaux" qui apprécient l'ambiance tropicale, il y a beaucoup plus de marginaux ou de gays, et il vaut mieux le savoir avant. C'est un peu comme Myconos en Europe. Très beau, mais particulier.
En fait, tout le monde apprécie 2-3 joursà K.W., principalement pour l'ambiance tropicale. Mais il faut savoir qu'il y a peu de plages agréables.
Et ceux qui restent plus longtemps sont surtout là pour faire la fête (leur fête).
Aussi, compte tenu de ce que tu décris, je ne suis pas certain que ce soit la destination idéale pour 15 jours.

Je sais que mon frère y est allé cet été avec sa petite famille... et ils ont passés deux nuits à Keywest, un hôtel en début de la ville à 68$us la nuit, déjeuner inclus.... mais ils devaient prendre leur véhicule pour aller où il y a de l'action (le centre de Keywest)!
Pour la plage... as-tu visité Honda Beach ? Car on m'a dit que la plage était magnifique à cet endroit ! Mon frère n'y est pas allé... donc, je l'ignore !
Mon copain est un peu dans le domaine artistique... donc, le pourquoi que nous voulons allés visiter les galeries d'arts là bas... je suis certaine que nous allons adorer !!! Car, un été, nous sommes allés visiter le musée de Normand rockwell et franchement, j'en était éblouie, combien c'était magique et impressioné par ses toiles (illustrations) gigantesques.

Si la différence de tarif est grande, je suggère également d'atterir à l'aéroport de Miami, le trajet Miami-Key West se fait en 2h en voiture. Il y a également une liaison entre Miami et Key West en autobus (Greyhound) qui se fait en environ 3 heures, je crois qu'il y a 3 ou 4 départs par jour.
L'aéroport de KW est situé dans KW même à 3mn en voiture du Duval Street.
Les hotels de l'hyper centre sont en général chers et bruyants tard dans la nuit.
Le centre animé n'est pas proche des belles plages.
KW c'est un peu l'ambiance du quartier français à News Orleans.
Vous voulez vraiment passer 14 jours à KW même?
Vous êtes pêcheur et disposez d'un bon budget pour louer des bateaux?
Autrement vous en ferez le tour en 2 à 3 jours maximum...
C'est avant tout un lieu festif, peu culturel bien qu'il y a 3 ou 4 choses interessantes à visiter comme la maison de Truman, celle d'Hemimgway, une vieille maison bourgeoise, etc.
En voiture depuis Miami il faut compter réellement 4h et sans traîner en chemin.
Ouais... je croyais que mon p'tit frère était allé à cet endroit qu'une seule journée et il m'a mentionné la même chose que toi... 4 heures pour me rendre à KeyWest à partir de Miami.... justement à cause qu'il y a un île d'où il faut rouler trrrrrrrès doucement à cause des chevreuils. Et en plus, ça vaut la peine de voir l'étendu de l'eau de chaque côté !
Par contre, tu vois ! Mon frère et son épouse et leurs deux enfants, y ont passés facilement 2 jours et ont adorés !!!! Donc, nous connaissant moi et mon copain, étant des maniaques d'art (étant lui même artiste dans l'âme... illustrateur à vrai dire) ...ils nous ont dit que nous aimerions cet endroit sans problème... connaissant notre style. Et on est réellement attirés par cet endroit pour y relaxer, il veut dessiner pendant la journée... assis sur le balcon en sirotant une p'tit coupe de vin ou un p'tit kir ! Pendant que moi et ma fille, allons faire quelques petites boutiques ou bien d'aller visiter à pied les lieux. On veut aller voir les Everglades. En fait... oui, il veut aller pécher... il adore aussi !
Mais bon... notre choix n'est pas coulé dans le béton... car on veut vérifier le coin de St-Petersburg aussi ! Nous voulons visiter le musée de Salvador Dali et bien d'autres choses.
Le pourquoi que je viens poser plusieurs questions sur Keywest justement et voir si ça pourrait être selon nos attentes !? 🙂 C'est réellement plaisant les forums justement pour ça ! 😉
Donc, ce que nous recherchons réellement... des p'tits endroits pour visiter et relaxer aussi.

Tiens.. intéressant le fait qu'il y est des autobus qui s'y rendent... je l'ignorais... mais je crois qu'il serait préférable que nous louons un véhicule... ! Si on veut sortir de là bas et aller ailleurs dans l'État de la Floride... comme visiter les Everglades exemple ?

Je te conseille également de te rendre à Key West par la route qui est vraiment unique avec tous ses ponts. Depuis Miami, il faut compter entre 4h.-4h.30 selon le traffic.
Avant d' arriver, il faut absolument vous arrêter à Bahia Honda State Park car c' est ici que vous trouverez les plus belles plages.
Si toutefois tu prends la décision de t' y rendre en avion, il y a effectivement le Key West International Airport (EYW). Depuis Miami, tu as également la possibilité d' atterrir au Florida Key Marathon Airport.
Si tu ne désires pas utiliser de véhicule pour te rendre dans le centre, je te conseille de séjourner près de Old Town car c' est dans ce quartier que tu trouveras la plupart des intérêts de la ville. Mais sinon, il est aussi possible de louer des vélos.
Key West est une jolie petite ville sympa avec une atmosphère rappelant celle des Caraïbes, mais j' ai bien peur qu' autant de jours sur place vous ne finissiez par vous lasser car on a vite fait dans faire le tour.
N' espérez pas non plus trouver de superbes plages, car vous serez certainement déçus. Pour cela, je te conseille plutôt celles du Golfe du Mexique.
Tres bon choix que le musée Dali de Tampa/St Pet.
En France nous habitons à 1h du musée Dali de Figueras (Espagne) que nous connaissons bien.
Nous avons visité le Musée de Floride en 2006, et il est vraiment très bien.
Par contre c'est loin de KW au mois 8 ou 10h de voiture.
Un voyage itinérant serait sans doute mieux, il y a de très beaux musées à Miami.
Pourquoi ne pas envisager de faire le tour de la Floride?
Orlando n'est pas obligatoire.
Naples est très joli et super relaxant.

Je ne connais pas encore Key West, mais cela devrait venir puisque ma soeur vient d'acheter un petit guesthouse dans le quartier historique de la ville. Elle m'a dit que tout était accessible à pieds et que c'était un des meilleurs prix du coin (mais le coin n'est pas donné, il faut reconnaître).
L'achat étant récent, elle n'a pas peut-être pas encore apporté la touche personnelle qui a fait le succès du guesthouse qu'elle gérait à Porto Rico. J'ai cherché des prix pour les vols pour trois personnes aller-retour et je dois effectuer mon calcul... mais rien n'est encore certain pour le moment... tout dépend du budget que nous aurons à mettre dans nos vacances (après les réparations de la voiture de mon copain 🤪...$$$$) Mais, merci beaucoup pour tes conseils !

Nous avons déjà fait un p'tit bout de la Floride en voiture... car nous étions partie de la maison (Québec) jusqu'à Orlando... et au retour... nous avons fait plusieurs arrêts, mais nous ne sommes pas allés jusqu'à les Keys malheureusement... étant donné que nous voulions voir certaines choses très précises !
Donc... on vérifie toutes les possibilités de ce que nous aimerions visiter... tel que l'ÉNORME Aquarium dans l'État de la Georgie... http://www.georgiaaquarium.org/ !!!!
Donc.. rien n'est encore certain.. mais faut bien poser des questions pour se faire une bonne idée et trouver réellement ce qui nous tente vraiment !

Je me suis fait sortir des prix pour l'avion... très intéressant ! Mais quand on fait le calcul de tout au bout de la liste... je parle des repas, de la location de voiture, des sorties et tout l'reste... ouais ! On doit bien calculer notre budget !

Effectivement elle va mettre des photos des chambres dès qu'elle pourra. Il n'y en a que 8, c'est donc très familiale. Elles donnent toute sur la balustrade qui fait le tour de la maison.
C'est marrant, mais je regardais aujourd'hui à 2 reprises un petit bouquin sur Normand Rockwell et je faisais à ma femme la remarque qu'il était étonnant par la justesse des expressions et par la qualité du graphisme. Et je trouve la mise en page (un cercle souvent en arrière plan, la tête qui sort du cadre) vraiment très moderne pour des dessins datant de 1920. Il mérite le détour.
😉 Le cercle que tu apperçois dans ses dessins.. c'est pour inscrire "Saturday Evening Post" le nom du journal pour lequel il bossait ! Car comme je te le précisais... il est illustrateur avant tout !
Nous avons visité son musée et son atelier en plus... il utilisait des gens du village pour se servir de modèle... et quand nous sommes arrivés à Stockbridge, hé bien... quelle surprise avons nous eu ! WOW.. nous étions dans l'une de ses toiles... juste à voir le décor qui n'a réellement pas changé du village ! C'était hallucinant... nous l'avons immédiatement reconnu en sortant de la voiture !
En tout cas... j'en parle et j'ai simplement le goût d'y retourner ! 😏 Nous étions comme deux enfants qui arrivent à Walt Disney ! 😛

J'ai remarqué que effectivement les hotels n'etaient pas bon marché au centre. Nous sommes une famille de 4 avec 2 grands enfants, que me conseillez vous?
Si l'on prend un hotel a l'entrée de la ville, le centre est-il facilement accessible, y a t'il des parkings pratiques par exemple?
D'autre part je cherche à me renseigner sur le ferry. Quand je fais l'itinéraire par mappy pour repartir de key west à Fort Myers, il m'indique de repndre le ferry mais quand je vais sur le site du ferry je n'ai pas l'impression qu'il charge des voitures !!!

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park

My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
