Après notre mariage, nous avons décidé de partir en voyage de noces, fin Septembre, dans l'Ouest américain en autotour (plutot que l'Ile Maurice..Moins farniente ok mais tellement plus de choses à voir!!).
Nous arriverons à Los Angeles , puis route vers Palm Spring, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas et enfin San Francisco. N'étant jamais allée aux Etats Unis, je ne sais pas du tout quels sont les bons plans dans ces differentes villes, ni ce qu'il y a de mieux à visiter en 14 jours. Nous souhaiterions également profiter à fond de Las Végas (achat de vetement, visite des grands hotels, etc..) et nous voudrions aussi renouveler nos voeux dans une chapelle comme le veut la tradition..Pouvez vous me donner quelques infos et conseils pour ce séjour que nous voudrions exceptionnel (mais vu la destination, cela ne peut en être autrement..)
PS: la conduite aux USA est elle difficile??(routes, panneaux, etc..) Et Los Angeles la nuit??Sortir ou rester à l'hotel??

Tout d'abord il faudrait savoir si vs etes plutot ville ou plutot parcs.
Pour la conduite dans l'ouest des USA, il n'y a aucun probleme, les voitures sont confortables, les routes parfaites... Ah si, il y a un probleme : les distances...
Preparez vs a faire beaucoup de voiture sur les 14 jours de votre voyage.

Perso, je trouve tes plans assez "ambitieux" en 14jours ! Vu les distances à couvrir... (bien d'accord avec jpg13) ça va être bien speed !!
Si vous tenez à arriver par L.A, peut être faire le trajet L.A==> Las Vegas en avion puis enchainer le reste en voiture, par Monument Valley, Bryce et Zion, puis Death Valley, Yosemite et SFO ; ce qui fera quand même une belle densité sur 15 jours !!!
Si vous ne réussissez jamais rien du premier coup, n'essayez pas le parachutisme !
Si l'arrivée à L.A est validée, alors sur 14 jours, repartez de Las Vegas et zappez San Francisco pour faire une boucle autour du Grand Canyon.
Palms Springs à éliminer aussi tant qu'à faire.
Vous aurez 2 villes sur 4 ou 5 jours minimum et le reste en parcs. Avec SFO en plus, ça sera trop long en route et trop court en timing.
Ou alors SFO arrivée et départ Vegas en zappant L.A.
SFO est largement + sympa à visiter 😎
pour t'aider a preparer ce voyage, investit tout d'abord dans un guide style "le guide du routard des parcs nationaux de l'ouest américain" et le "guide du routard de la californie". Cela te donnera une idee, des conseils pour savoir où manger, où faire ses achats, où dormir, des conseils de visites....
En 14 jours ce circuit va etre tres speed. Le mieux peut etre serait une arrivée à San Francisco puis prendre un vol interne pour aller à Las Vegas. A San Francisco tu peux ainsi éviter une location de voiture ainsi qu'à las vegas et ne prendre une voiture de location qu'au départ le las vegas. Et ensuite faire la suite du circuit en voiture.
Tu ne parle pas de Zion, Bryce, lac powell dans ton voyage. Connais tu ces sites a visiter ? Tres beau et en plus tu y passera a côté alors autant s'y arreter.
Voici un circuit type mais il y en a d'autres :
- arrivée à San Francisco (3 nuits)
puis vol interne pour las vegas
- Las vegas (2 nuits)
- Zion national park (de passage, tu pourrais y faire au moins 2 randonnées)
- Bryce canyon (2 nuits)
- Page (visite du lac powell, horseshoe bend + antelope canyon) (1 ou 2 nuits)
- Monument valley (1 nuit)
- Grand Canyon (1 nuit)
- Trajet pour Los angeles en empruntant un morceau de la route 66
- Los angeles (visite hollywood, universal studio, beverly hills, santa monica, venice beach, griffith park...) (3 nuits)
A LAS VEGAS :
Il y a bien sûr les visites des grand casinos à faire (le luxor, bellagio, caesar palace...). Pour les acaht de vetement il faut aller dans les outlets (magasins d'usine des grandes marques). Visite des magasins M&M's et coca cola sympa à faire, visite de freemont street (de nuit de préférence). Vous pouvez aller aussi jusqu'à death valley (mais prendre une voiture).
En ce qui concerne un renouvellement de voeux de mariage, quel type de mariage voulez vous ? Fun ou classique ? moi je me suis mariée à Las Vegas en septembre dernier si vous voulez des conseils n'hésitez pas !!
Pour la conduite aux USA pas de probleme, c'est un vrai plaisir de conduire là bas. Les routes sont larges, belles, assez bien indiqué (mais vaut mieux prendre une carte routiere).
Nous nous avions peur pour la conduite dans los angeles mais il n'y a pas eu de soucis particuliers. Si tu achete le guide du routard, ils t'expliquent un peu la conduite là bas ainsi que les panneaux...

Alors un voyage de noces aux USA , tout un programme. Bravo ! j'ai passé 3 semaines dans l'ouest l'an passé donc je peux vous renseigner. A Las vegas, le plus bel hôtel "The Venetian" un pur moment de bonheur! c'est les US et Venise réunis donc idéal pour des amoureux !
Pour vous marier là-bas, pas de problème, pratiquement tous les hôtels ont leur chapelle mais je vous conseille les chapelles à l'extérieur c'est encore plus romantique avec limousine et chauffeur. Pour cela, renseignez-vous avant le départ sur les papiers à fournir !
Ensuite et bien il faut visiter tous les grands hôtels, c'est tout simplement magique ! Je vous conseille également d'aller faire un tour dans le vieux Las Vegas (downtown), voir Fremont street. L'ambiance y est très différente mais aussi captivante.
A l'extérieur de LV il y a un grand centre commercial (le Las Vegas Premium Outlets) qui réunit toutes les grandes marques et enseignes pour faire du shopping très intéressant !!!
Pour le reste vous aurez un circuit préparé en autotour, à vous de vous documenter avant le départ sur les sites à ne pas manquer. Il y en a tellement !!!
A los Angeles, il faut bien sûr voir Hollywwod Bld, Sunset bld, Beverly hills avec Rodéo Drive, universal studios mais également le centre ville, Chinatown, le quartier des affaires ....
A San Francisco, ville magique par excellence, les collines, le golden gate bridge, le port. Pour vous déplacer en ville prenez le bus, le tram et bien sûr le "cable-car"
Pour la conduite en voiture, vraiment aucun problème c'est très facile, simplement il faut bien respecter le code de la route, sinon gare ! l'essence est très bon marché. Et surtout prévoir toujours beaucoup d'eau dans la voiture car les distances sont parfois longues et sans "âmes qui vivent"....bon voyage

Il est vrai que j'ai oublié de préciser que l'autotour était "à la carte". En effet, nous souhaitons arrivé à LA et y passer 2 nuits, puis route vers Palmspring (pour faire une etape et racourcir le trajet) pour une nuit. Ensuite Flagstaff, puis toute la région des parcs. Arrivés à Las Vegas, nous passerons 2 nuits (ou 3 en fonction du timing). Nous laisserons la voiture à LV, pour prendre un vol interne pour San Francisco, histoire de ne pas avoir à faire un trop long trajet et en plus ça fait gagner du temps. En moyenne, chaque etape ne fait pas plus de 250 km (enfin je crois..) Nous sommes tout autant "ville" que "parc" d'ou L'ouest Americain qui permet de voir les 2. Apparemment, le tour operator nous fourni un carnet de voyage avec cartes routières, quelques visites possibles et..le GPS en français..(ouf). Pour LA, nous ne passons que 2 jours, et avec le décalage horaire qui va nous déphaser, nous n'aurons certainement pas le temps de tout faire. La parc Universal Studio vaut il le coup?Et Santa Monica? Pour Las Végas, même chose. 2 ou 3 nuits où nous souhaitons vraiment en profiter. Il parait que l'on peut faire une ballade à cheval au départ de Las Vegas, pour la demi journée, ambiance "cowboy". Je ne sais pas si cela vaut le coup, mais ça a l'air bien sympa. Mais j'ai peur que ça fasse trop "touristes"..Pour la restauration, j'ai trouvé sur le forum, un membre annoncant 29.99$ pour buffet à volonté sur la journée dans quelques hotels. Ca a l'air bien sympa (mais gare à la crise de foie). Pour le Grand Canyon, on nous a parlé du Skywalk , qui soit disant ne vaut pas la peine, piège à touriste. Comment peut on visiter le Grand Canyon ou la région des parcs autre qu'en 4X4 ou en helico (souvent trop onéreux)? y a t il des randos pour les "débutants"? est ce bien balisé? A san Francisco, peut etre une location de vélo pour faire la cote (aller manger du crabe??il parait que c'est la specialité), ou en ville même si cela est possible. On voit aussi beaucoup d'excursions pour le vignoble californien..Bref, un programme chargé, c'est pour cela que je voudrai aller à l'essentiel, même si je souhaiterais sortir un peu des sentiers battus.

Plutot une petite ceremonie dans une chapelle(à l'exterieur si possible), avec quelques photos, et un petit diner en amoureux dans un endroit sympa. Dans quelle chapelle vous etes vous mariés? J'ai vu sur le forum que les chapelles des hotels était en général plus chères que les chapelles exterieures (et moins jolies). Certains proposent des packs, mais on s'y perd dans tout ça!! Pour la cérémonie, existe t'il des ceremonies en français (les americains parlent tellement vite que j'ai peur de rien comprendre), même si nous voulons prononcer nos voeux en anglais (sinon c'est moins fun). Quant à la robe , je me vois mal prendre la mienne dans mes bagages..Existe t il des boutiques sympas qui propose des petites robes blanches très simples (histoire de faire un peu mariée quand même..) Y a t'il des avantages à faire un mariage dans la chapelle d'un hotel?
Nous avons fais un circuit de 15 jours en Septembre dernier (2009), LA - LV - SF, plus 1 mariage à LV.
Donc plus ou moins la même chose que vous allez faire, en voiture bien sur.
Pourquoi êtes-vous passés par un Tour? Exemple le GPS en Français, aux USA quand on vous loue un GPS, ils sont multilingues et bien sur le Français est inclus, GPS pas indispensable, vu le bon réseau routier, et le fait de ce perdre sont toujours après coup de tres bons souvenirs ... Les Tour Operator, parfois...
Votre programme est pas mal, mais comme dit plus haut en 14 jours cela va faire court, et SF en vélo avec la cote et les crabes, pourquoi pas...
Pour votre cérémonie, vos vœux seront en Américain, si vous ne comprenez pas, c'est pas grave, essayez juste de répéter, ils se foutent si vous dites n'importe quoi, le tout, c'est que le fun soit et n'oubliez pas que c'est avant tout un commerce.
On trouve bien sure des robes blanches, dans les galeries marchandes des hôtels, vous trouverez un tas de magasins, souvent plutôt chics. Mais sur la route LA - LV vous avez un des plus fameux outlet de la région.
L'avantage de faire dans un Hotel, c'est que certain y font tout dans le même lieu, le nuit, la cérémonie, le fete, le dîner etc...

Circuit classique : arrivée à Calgary, Banff, Jasper, Clearwater, Whistler, île de Vancouver, départ de Vancouver.
Je sais que vous ne lisez pas plus que moi dans la boule de cristal, aussi je ne vous demande évidemment pas quelle sera la situation au niveau des incendies dans un mois...
Mais si certains d'entre vous pouvaient me dire si, ACTUELLEMENT, il y a de grosses difficultés, non seulement pour les habitants, évidemment, mais pour les touristes ?
Nous hésitons en effet à tenter le coup ou à annuler ce qui peut encore l'être.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

There are several attractions along the way:

- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

Paradise Meadow (maybe not going all the way), Devastated Area, and the loop around Reflection and Manzanita Lakes (Day 3)
Cinder Cone and Painted Dunes (Day 4)
Devil’s Kitchen and Boiling Spring Lake (Day 5)
I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.
Thanks for advising me on the booking—should I reserve a room in the hotel or go for a cabin for the best view?

I’m planning a week-long family trip to NYC in October 2026. The focus is on museums and soaking up the New York vibe. I’ve been checking Airbnb, but the prices in Manhattan are through the roof. Since I don’t know NYC well, is it "wise" to look outside Manhattan? Any neighborhoods you’d recommend?
After our first trip to the West, we’d love to go back to see other must-see spots!

What do you think? Could we add one more night somewhere? We’re not big hikers, so we’ll mostly explore the parks using shuttles.
Also, we’re all set—passports are good. Do you think one classic Visa card and one premium Visa card will be enough for coverage?

Just a little post that might interest some of you:

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

I’m planning a week in S.F. in April 2026 and I can’t figure out how to tell the cable cars—of which I understand there are three lines—apart from the trams, which I think number seven. I can’t find their individual numbers or routes anywhere.

The price of the pass is jumping from 80 € to 250 € on January 1st, 2026!!!
Is it possible to buy the pass online before the end of the year to lock in the 80 € rate? If so, where and how do I go about it?
