Hi, A message for regulars or expats. Since I travel to Thailand often, I usually get a Thai Thrue mobile plan at 7/11 for a few hundred baht, and it works really well. This year, I’m going for 3 months and I’d like to keep my phone number with Free. It’s not much more expensive, with 35 GB of data per month and keeping my number (you just have to block MMS reception, which is the only extra charge). I also vaguely saw online that Free has an agreement with Thrue. What do you think? Have you ever tried Free in Thailand?

Hello, I’m a regular visitor to Thailand for long stays. I have a French smartphone with a Free plan at 19.99 € in France. I also have a Thai smartphone with a TDAC plan.

When I’m in Thailand, I turn off mobile data on my Free phone to avoid paying for internet connections—it adds up fast if you’re not careful. Same goes for calls: if someone calls you, the difference in call rates is charged to you, and it’s even worse if you call France. I use it for Messenger and WhatsApp for communications, which costs nothing in that case.

Thanks so much for your reply. It’s worth reading the free conditions carefully. Their 35 GB international plan is therefore less interesting than an unlimited TDAC plan, and with more risk.
