Novembre c' est la fin de la saison cyclonique, mais ? Pas toujours sec? Autrement c' est très bien pour venir, pas très cher en cette saison.
Pour Deshaies, mauvais choix pour visiter notre île, très joli coin pour visiter mais pour BASSE TERRE.
Pour l' ensemble de l'île, il vaut mieux être au milieu voir vers STE ANNE ou même ST FRANCOIS.

c est statistiquement le 3e mois le plus pluvieux en mm, et le 2e en nombre de jour de pluie (septembre est plus pluvieux en moyenne de precipitation, mais les cyclones concentrent les pluies sur un nombre de jours plus restreint. Enfin novembre est le mois le moins ensoleillé de l année avec 207h d ensoleillement en moyenne

c est bien pour les plages de deshaies et de la cote sous le vent, pour la plongee a bouillante, pour la soufriere, pour la route de la traversee
un peu moins bien pour les randos cascades/sources chaudes de la cote est de la basse terre,
et carrément moyen pour se balader sur la grande terre (embouteillages)
Venir début novembre, surtout pour un temps court, c'est prendre le risque d'une météo bien humide.
Vous pouvez vous faire une idée précise en regardant ma photo du jour (certes en Martinique mais il y a bcp de points communs en matière de météo). Vous y verrez novembre 2010 et 2011.

Je reviens de 3 ans de vie en Guadeloupe et pas de souci pour la période, surtout qu'il fait svt beau à St François vous êtes loin des pics montagneux.
Et puis il pleut pas mal depuis qq années, quel que soit la période donc cela ne sert à rien de payer plus cher la période chaude car nous avons eu des visites déçues de trouver la pluie pendant le carême
Pour Deshaie, c'est bien pour les randonnées et visites. Les plages sont belles mais houleuses.
C'est vrai que le coté de Sainte Anne est plus sûr pour le temps.
En gros de Deshaie à Saint Anne, vous allez mettre 1 heure et demi en voiture

En novembre, nous avons essuyé quelques pluies, mais jamais bien méchant. De plus les précipitations sont souvent fortes mais breves, et le soleil revient rapidement. En revanche, nous avons constaté que la région de basse terre était relativement plus pluvieuse que grande terre. Pour notre part nous optons pour St-Anne ou St-François. Mais ne regrettaient de votre choix, les deux côtés de l'Ile sont merveilleux. ( c'est notre avis.. mais il semble tres partagé). Passez de bonnes vacances. Cordialement😏

si tu regardes le bilan meteofrance de novembre 2011 (en lien ci dessus http://www.meteo.gp/alaune/bcm/archives/201111bcmguad.pdf), tu verras que meme dans les coins «relativement moins pluvieux» de guadeloupe, en novembre, il peut pleuvoir autant qu en un an la ou tu habites
c est aussi la saison cyclonique, qui se termine officielle ment fin novembre (bien que la guadeloupe ait deja essuyé des phenomenes cycloniques jusqu en janvier.
Tu as eu de la chance, et je t en souhaite a l avenir. tu n as visiblement pas croisé les traces d un cyclones, pour dire «jamais bien mechant».
ici comme ailleurs, et un peu plus que sous les climats temperes de la france metropolitaine, la meteo est capricieuse, et les dechainements de la natures peuvent etre violents. en mai 2012, pourtant loin d etre le moi le plus pluvieux de l annee selon les statistiques, des precipitations comme on en voit sous les tropiques ont emporté plusieurs vies, des locaux pourtant rompus aux aleas climatiques tropicaux («rien de bien mechant»?). Il est tombe en 24h ce qu il tombe en moyenne en un trimestre a la meme periode chez toi. les plus grands axes routiers (a la jonctions de la grande terre et de la basse terre) ont ete bloques pendant 2 jours, et la circulation a ete perturbee pendant toute la semaine (plusieurs heures d embouteillage par jour, le reve du touriste moyen)
c etait en mai, un mois moins pluvieux que la moyenne, pas novembre en pleine saison des pluies et des cyclones

Lenny a duré du 13 au 23 novembre, a Saint Martin ou je travaillais, l alerte violette (confinement total) a duré officiellement pendant 53 heures: plus de 2 jours de vent hurlant jusqu a 145 noeuds (267km/h selon les anemometres de l aeroport, avant qu ils ne soient emportés par une rafale plus forte que les autres), 867 mm de pluie en 2 jours au point de releve de la gendarmerie, 482mm en 24h (moyenne ANNUELLE chez toi: 730mm), maree cyclonique de 2m50, houle cyclonique de plus de 10m, houle mesuree a pres de 5metres a l abri du port de saint barthelemy, des torrents de boue emportant voitures, animaux... la peugeot 505 break d un ami a fait un tonneau sous la seule force d une rafale. alerte violette signifie confinement obligatoire, enfin pour ceux qui n ont pas vu leur toiture emportée. la circulation a été interdite et reservee aux secours pendant plusieurs jours le temps de pousser sur le bord des routes les tas de toles, débris, plantes, branches... entremêlés.
je n ai plus eu d electricite pendant 18 jours et plus d eau pendant 25 jours, il a fallu plusieurs mois et de nombreuses intervention sur le reseau d eau avant que la ddass redeclare l eau courante potable.
outre un bilan final de 17 morts, faune et flore devastees, plus de fleurs, plus de legumes, plus de feuilles ni de fruits dans les arbres (et plus beaucoup de branches), bateaux coulés, jetés à la cote, les eaux turquoises devenues marronnasses, polluées suite aux différents dégats: reservoirs d hydrocarbure explosés, batiments professionnels envolés, produits chimiques disséminés, toles des toitures envolees et qui rouillent pendant des annees en decorant toute l ile, du sommet des montagnes aux fonds marins. Mares et flaques d eau stagnantes ont par contre fait le bonheur des moustiques, qui ont batifolé et s y sont reproduits a l envi pendant plusieurs mois, une petite epidemie de dengue a sevi au debut de l annee suivante, un souvenir de plus de lenny.
évidement, toutes ces rejouissances mettent les locaux de merveilleuse humeur, frais et dispos pour accueillir d insouciants touristes puisqu il n y a rien de bien mechant, et laissent de quoi faire rever un touriste moyen

on ne sait pas prevoir ou ni quand ( en tout cas pas avec precision significative au dela de 48h, de quoi rendre plus d un touriste nerveux, sauf ceux qui ont des vacances de moins de 48h et qui n ont pas besoin de reserver leurs billets d avion a l avance)
je vis en zone cyclonique depuis bientot 20 ans, 7 cyclones me sont passes dessus, rien depuis 2006, pas presse de connaitre le 8e. la zone peut etre charmante quand on a la chance, c est ce que je me disais pendant que je regardais mes photos de lenny tout a l heure, et que je profitais de la vue de mon jardin en meme temps. Les arbres sont grands et vaillants, ils n ont pas été amochés ces dernières années, les 6,2 cyclones annuels sont passés 100km au sud ou au nord, assez loin pour préserver la nature ici, pour l instant)
mais avec ce recul, je ne parie plus depuis longtemps sur le temps en saison cyclonique quand je prevoie mes toujours trop courtes vacances. C est deja une experience que je ne souhaite a personne, mais encore moins a quelqu un qui espere des conditions idylliques pour ses 15 jours de vacances annuelles et qui vient se jeter dans la gueule du loup. au moins qu il parte en connaissance de cause

Me concernant novembre est un des mois où je refuse toute visite de parents/amis ou alliés. Depuis 23 ans que nous sommes ici, c'est un des mois météo les plus humides et désagréables. Au début, nous acceptions les visiteurs mais au fil du temps nous avons renoncé à leur faire prendre le risque de vacances très pluvieuses. Je refuse tout le monde entre le 15 août et début décembre et en mai.
Il y a eu un mieux à cette période en début des années 2000. Mais depuis 3/4 ans les choses se re-dégradent et reviennent au stade du début des années 90. En nos premiers mois de novembre aux Antilles, j'ai souvenir des enfants en bottes et cirés jaunes presque tout le mois !
Maintenant, personne ne peut dire ce que sera novembre 2012 et tout le monde espère une période pas trop dégradée.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.

I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still.
