Quelqu'un a t'il une adresse pas trop loin de l'aéroport d'un loueur de scooters:
- qui accepte qu'on aille à Java avec (doit remettre les papiers nécessaires pour prendre le ferry)
- qui les entretienne bien, notamment avec freins et pneus neufs
- qui propose une gamme allant au delà du 80cc mais automatique (je sais pas conduire une moto).
eh bien, je vois que tu n'as pas de succès avec tes questions relatives aux locations de scooter
peut-être pourras-tu m'aider, on souhaite avec mon mari aller de Bali à Lombok puis Florès par bateau, vaut-il mieux louer un scoot sur chaque île ou en louer un à Kuta (loueurs qui m'ont l'air les moins chers .... mais peut-être pas les mieux entretenus) et les faire passer sur les ferrys. On voudrait vraiment être autonome. L'île de Sumbawa ne m'attire pas plus que ça, on prendrait donc un ferry de 2 jours pour relier Lombok et Florès
Louer un scooter sur chaque île implique de le ramener là où on l'a loué à chaque fois, donc on tourne en rond...
Mieux vaut louer un scooter pour tout le trajet, ou plutôt deux, car sur des longues distances la place du passager n'est vraiment pas enviable.
Attention les loueurs de scooters à Bali sont assez flippés et ils ne veulent pas louer si tu prévois un long périple. Il faut donc mentir, dire que tu loues une semaine juste pour tourner autour de Bali, et au bout d'une semaine tu l'appelles pour lui dire que finalement tu prends une semaine de plus et ainsi de suite...
Sinon je diffuse régulièrement sur ce forum les coordonnées de Oyah, loueur de scooters à Lombok, qui n'est pas chiant comme les loueurs de Bali, avec lui pas de souci pour emmener le scooter jusqu'à Florès.
Sumbawa c'est vrai c'est long à traverser mais les côtes Ouest et Est valent vraiment le coup.
Y'a pas de ferry entre Lombok et Florès, juste les bateaux de croisière Perama, ils prennent pas les scooters (je leur avais demandé...).
Autre solution: louer un scooter à Bali, un autre à Lombok, traverser Sumbawa en bus et louer un scooter à Labuanbajo.

Tu peux effectivement faire le chemin en sens inverse via Sumba mais il faut du temps car les ferries sont aléatoires...
Sinon traversée de Florès par la Trans-Florès, et retour par la côte nord qui est très belle (M'Bay, Riung...). A Florès, pas forcément besoin de revenir sur ses pas.
Je compte louer un scoot à bali pour une semaine, concernant le permis international, (et permis tout court) je ne l'ai pas. Toutefois j'ai déja auparavant rouler pendant 3 semaine avec une moto en inde du nord, la aussi sans permis. Je roulais très prudemment et je n'ai eu aucun soucis malgré pas mal de km parcouru, certain diront que j'ai eu de la chance, peut être c'est vrai mais je ne le regrette pas instant.
Je pars dans une semaine en Indo, je reste une semaine à Bali avant de rejoindre sulawesi pour 6 semaines et les ïles banggaï (lolo je manquerait pas de te faire un petit topo à mon retour^^) , la liberté que moffrait le scoot comme moyen de locomotion j'aimerai la retrouver sur bali et ainsi évitéer les transport en commun les grands axes routiers et les coins "les plus courrus".
Du coup j'aimerai louer un scooter, sans permis est ce faisable (surtout au niveau des autorités) est il possible de s'arranger "à l'amiable" lors d'un contrôle de police et à la longue est ce que ça ne risque pas de me couter trop cher... ?
Du peu d'expérience que j'ai à louer des scooters à Bali (je loue toujours à Lombok...) je les ai trouvés assez chiants et tatillons. Mais je ne suis peut-être pas tombé sur le bon...
Donc louer sans permis je ne sais pas... mon loueur Balainais a scrupuleusement noté mon n° de permis... Et en plus à Bali, c'est un 2ème salaire pour les flics de contrôler les touristes à longueur de temps....
Faudra essayer.... au pire tu payes 50.000 en général par amende... ou sinon tu zappes Bali, c'est loin d'être une mauvaise idée 😉

Je vais réflechir pour le scoot... dommage , sinon je verai avec les personnes avec qui je serai sur Bali, (que j'hésite de plus en plus à foulé)
Pour les banggai et Sulawesi, je partai à la base avec une française qui parlai indo finalement, elle ne peux pas... mais je ne rennonce pas pour autant, je sais que cela ne va pas être evident mais la aussi une précédente expérience m'encourage à tout de même tenter le coup, j'ai voyagé à pied au kirghiztan sans guide et seul, la communication avec les berger kirghises n'était pas simple et s'était parfois très frustrant mais je suis comme même parvenu à me faire accepter et à partager certaines choses, j'éspère qu'il en sera de même aux banggaï.
Enfin il se trouve (ah le hasard nous surprend tj) que l'italien du Lp est un ami aux parent de la petite amie de mon frère (oula) du coup j'ai été en contact avec lui il m'a rencarder sur quelque truc et m'a également filé les mêmes contacts que sur le site du lonely...
quand tu dis qu'ils notent le numéro de permis, c'est le permis voiture? car je n'ai que celui-là, pas de permis moto (la préfecture a refusé de me cocher la case 125)
Oui c'est le permis voiture.
Pour un avoir permis moto il suffit de tamponner toi-même la case moto de ton permis INTERNATIONAL (pas le permis national que tu utilises en France évidemment, c'est un coup à se retrouver en tôle...)
Attention je parle bien du permis INTERNATIONAL et non du permis national. Quand bien même la case ne serait pas barrée, cocher soi-même la case A sur un permis national est à proscrire totalement...
Je sais, mais comme je n'utilise pas mon permis international en France, et que mon permis national est en règle et avec (presque) tous ses points, et qu'il fait bien trop froid en France pour conduire une moto, il peut rien me dire le préfet 🙂 ...Par contre le Bupati de Lombok, lui, il serait "en droit" de me demander un gros bakchich... 😮

J'en reviens... oui ton idée est très jouable.
Effectivement ruée vers l'or du côté de Sekotong, dans les 2 sens du terme: les Sasak ouvrent des mines d'or plus ou moins clandestines, les investisseurs étrangers ouvrent des hébergements... Mais rassure toi, la pression touristique est encore très faible.
Oui TOUTE la côte sud de Lombok vaut le coup: sud-ouest (avec notamment plein de petites îles à découvrir au large de Sekotong) , Kuta Lombok (avec Selong Blanak, Tanjung Aan, etc...) et sud-est. Prévoir 10 jours si on veut se donner le temps de la parcourir en scooter, ce qui permet, avec l'aide d'une bonne carte, de s'aventurer dans les endroits qui ne sont pas dans les guides et de séjourner dans des endroits hors du commun...

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.

Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
