Bonjour nous sommes un petit groupe de 4 amis qui partent le 14 juin à Puerto Plata.
Seulement les informations ont parlés d'innondations dans le nord de la république dominicaine ainsi qu'à Haiti.
même sur internet ils en parlent mais pas beaucoup, mon agence de voyage Nouvelles Frontières me dit qu'ils ne savent rien et qu'ils n'ont pas réussis à joindre mon hôtel à cause du décalage horaire (les gros menteurs)
moi ça m'affole un peu parce que je ne sais pas du tout ce qu'il se passe là-bas, alors si une personne fraichement débarqué de R.D peut m'aiguiller sur la situation ce serait vraiment très très gentil.
Eh oui effectivement il y a eu de grosses pluies et d'autres en previsions dns les provinces régions de puerto plata !!!......Enfin ceux ci dit il se peut qu'a vos dates de départ la météo soit plus clémente mais cependant il y a eu des dégats et beaucoup d'innondations...

Quatre hommes armés et encapuchonnés ont assailli ce lundi l'hôtel Riu Mambo, dans le complexe de tourisme RIU, de la Baie de Maimón, de cette province.
Des fonctionnaires de la Policier Nationale ont informé que les voleurs ont emporté une somme d'argent liquide indéterminée, après avoir dépouillé deux gardiens de leurs armes.
La police a commenté que deux des quatre personnes encapuchonnées se sont présentées au Lobby de l'Hôtel Riu Mambo avec des pistolets dans les mains et qu’ils ont assailli les deux membres de la sécurité de l'hôtel mentionnés.
Les assaillants ont aussi frappé et ligoté avec des câbles deux employés de l'établissement hôtelier, lesquels ont été abandonnés sur la plage proche de l'hôtel du groupe RIU.
Selon les rapports, les malfaiteurs dont les visages étaient encapuchonnés voyageaient à bord d'une automobile, et ils se sont enfuis à destination de Navarrete après avoir commis le vol.
Après le vol, des fonctionnaires du département des Infractions Monétaires se sont présentés à l’hôtel et ont commencé une enquête.
Les exécutifs de l'hôtel Riu Mambo, situé dans la Baie de Maimón, où ils se trouvent également les hôtels Riu Bachata et Riu Meringue, de la chaîne RIU, se sont réunis pour évaluer la situation.
Des journalistes ont essayé d'établir le contact avec ces exécutifs afin d’obtenir des informations plus spécifiques mais sans succès.
Une bande de délinquants dont les membres sont lourdement armés et utilisent des pistolets, des fusils, des révolvers, pour commettre des assauts opère à Puerto Plata.
La majorité de ces opérations sont effectuées pendant la journée. Divers secteurs réclament une plus grande action de la part de la Police pour faire face à ces bandes de délinquants. Il a également été communiqué que les membres de ces bandes sont mobilisés dans des voitures Toyota Camry et Honda Accord, sans plaques minéralogiques et avec vitres teintées.
Faut se calmer un peu.............😎 Existe t il un endroit touristique en France qui ne fait pas l'objet de divers vols......... Les mecs en question ont emporté 4 000 pesos selon les sources officielles donc en gros 100 euros........pour un hotel de classe internationale, , , , ils se sont bien plantes ... Wouawwww et il parait qu'ils aient dépouillé de quelques dollars US deux touristes allemands qui se trouvaient dans le coin lors du 'braquage" ... Ils etaient masques ok et alors, , , , , faut etre c, , , , pour faire cela a visage decouvert 😉😉😉, je plaisante, cela a ete surement terrible de voir ces c, , , , debarquer ainsi on ne sait jamais ce qui peut leur passer par la tete mais ce n est pas une raison pour affoler les populations 😕😎
Faut pas psychoter comme cela 🤪😉 😎, on plus de chance de se faire casser ou bruler la voiture en France que de se faire agresser dans un hotel en RD 😮 par des malfaiteurs armes 🏴☠️
Au niveau des inondations il y a eu pas mal de pluie mais c est la saison, , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , 😛
Cela a provoque des degats dans certains barrios actuellement 8 personnes decedees et des personnes deplacees, , , certains endroits propices a la montee des eaux par suite de deficience de systeme d evacuation de ces memes eaux ou de part de l implantation de leurs habitations mais je doute que dans l hotel ou tu vas aller tu auras des problemes d innondation 😎 et encore moins de braquage 😛😉

😎 lol Ola la la....avec toi faut tout relativiser 😛 mais pour toi qui est sur place c'est facile de relativiser....mais bon si cela etait trés relatifs ca ne serai pas dns les journaux et la somme on s'en fiche ( contrairement aux agresseurs )que ce soit 1millions ou 2 Pesos ce qui compte c'est la sécurité des gens et qui ne leur arrive rien....
Le plus important a retenir c'est d'être comme partout vigilant et ne pas oublier que nous ne sommes pas notre rue mais dns la leurs alors restons tous respectueux et faut simplement s'adapter.......!!!!
Enfin ceux ci dit je ne mettrai plus ce genre d'infos sur le forum car aprés tout ce n'est pas le but !! Ici c'est juste pour parler de choses positives et de vacances de bon temps !!!! Je vais pas gacher des vacances pour des choses qui n'arriveront qu'a peu de gens d'ici je le souhaite.
La seule chose ou je souhaite revenir c'est pour cete météo qui a fait des malheureux parmi la population et je souhaite que tout se rétablisse assez rapidement pour eux.
Enfin pour ma part j'y apporterai quelques dons necessaires a la population

j'éspère simplement que les personnes là bas n'ont pas trop souffert de ces innondations et que les dégâts vont être vite réparés. En ce qui me concerne je verrais bien sur place, si je peux faire tout de même quelques excurssions sans danger ce serait pas mal, car payer pour rester une semaine à l'hôtel c'est pas ma tasse de thé. 😉 Effectivement je relativise un peu car d'une part mon job ici c'est dans la sécurité donc je suis relativement bien placé pour parler de ce type de choses (confronté tres regulierement a la violence) de plus j ai quitté Ce bon village de Boca Chica pour habiter (plus commode pour moi) a la capitale et puis quand il fait beau c'est cool, quand il pleut on est mouillé mais on seche vite 😉😎 alors on relativise, a force on prend un peu le caractere des doms 😎😉 faut garder le moral 😛🙂

nous étions au RIU Merengue pendant semaine et nous sommes revenues hier et tout s'est bien passé.
Pour les inondations, les routes ne sont pas bonne ( beaucoup de bitume en moins a cause de l'eau ) mais les cars ne roule pas vite !
Pour les hotels, ne t'en fait pas, ils ont été facillement remis en état en une matinée.
Ca me rassure tout ça j'ai tellement hâte d'y être ! on a réservé depuis le mois de janvier donc là plus ça se rapproche et puis je trouve le temps long. Et puis avec ces innondations on pensaient qu'on avaient la poisse et qu'on allaient pas profiter de nos vacances, mais s'il ya du beau temps tout devrait bien se passer merci encore !!! 😎

J'ai bien peur que tu soit obligé de rester dans ton hotel enRD car tout est fait pour que les touristes ne sortent pas des hotels et qu'ils depensent leur bons dollars dans les hotels afin que les prorietaires (des hotels ) eux depensent les bons $ a Miami ou autre !!!! DR pays pourri par la corruption d'ailleurs certains de nos hommes poltiques .... tu sais le maire de Levallois et ses copains s'etaient refugié en RD il y a 3 ou 4 ans!!!!

La corruption existe encore, mais depuis l'arrivée du nouveau président en 2004 elle a fortement diminué et est sanctionnée. Merci Señor Leonel. L'accès aux informations est plus facile également.
Maintenant, si vous désirez rester dans les hôtels tout-compris, c'est votre choix mais vous allez passer à côté de la République Dominicaine, de sa culture, de sa gentillesse et sa joie de vivre.
J'habite à l'entrée du village dominicaine de Cabarete et je peux vous assurer que je n'ai jamais eu aucun problèmes et même les problèmes de petite corruption qui existe encore se règle sur un simple téléphone au bon endroit. Il faut bien sur ne pas se promener les poches débordant de dollar et croulant sous des tonnes de bijoux en or. Tentant pour une population quand même pauvre.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
