En cadeau pour mes 30 ans, nous allons, avec mon copain, faire un petit séjour en Toscane de 8-10 jours .
Après avoir lu pas mal de discussions sur le forum à propos de la Toscane, j'en suis arrivé à l'itinéraire suivant, sachant que nous descendons de la région parisienne en voiture, avec une escale en haute savoie pour voir la famille : jour 1 : région parisienne -> haute-savoie jour 2 : haute-savoie -> Lucca. Visite de Lucca. Nuit à Lucca ou vers Montecatini. jour 3 : Lucca -> Florence. Visite de Florence. Nuit à Florence ou les environs. jour 4 : Visite de Florence (principalement le Duomo et son quartier, le Ponte Vecchio et les jardins de Boboli sur les 2 jours). Nuit à Florence ou les environs. jour 5 : Florence -> Sienne. Visite du Chianti et de ses petits villages. Nuit à Sienne. jour 6 : Visite de Sienne. Nuit à Sienne. jour 7 : Sienne -> San Gimignano. Visite du Val d'Elsa. Nuit à San Gimignano ou les environs. jour 8 : San Gimignano -> Viareggio. Visite de San Gimignano, arrêt photos à Pise. Nuit à Viareggio. jour 9 : Viareggio -> Haute-savoie. Un petit tour sur la plage de Viareggio avant de prendre la route. jour 10 : retour Paris.
Nous aimons surtout les beaux paysages et les belles vieilles villes, et ne ferons que les musées vraiment indispensables.
Vu que nous n'avons pas eu de vacances depuis plus d'un an, nous voulons visiter tranquillement, sans se presser. Et un arrêt, même bref sur une jolie plage est obligatoire pour moi : la mer me manque, même si je ne peux pas m'y baigner car trop froide !!
Voilà mes questions : Que pensez-vous de mon programme ? Ai-je consacré trop de jours à un endroit et pas assez à un autre ?? Ai-je oublié des endroits incontournables ? A votre avis, vaut-il mieux dormir en ville ou plutôt en pleine campagne ? Sachant que le soir, nous ne comptons pas sortir (sauf pour manger et peut-être une ballade digestive de temps en temps). La plage de Viareggio est-elle belle ou y en a-t'il une plus jolie dans les environs au nord de Viareggio ou très près de Viareggio au sud ? Y a-t'il des choses à voir à Viareggio ?
Je n'ai encore réservé aucun hotel et nous partons dans une semaine !! Alors tous vos commentaires sont les bienvenus.

Beaucoup de monde à Florence, San geminiano hyper touristique avec de très nombreux magasins de souvenirs🙁
Nous ne réservons jamais d'hotel et choisissons sur place avec un ou deux guides emportés.
A Lucca nous avons dormi dans une maison d'hôtes. Le stationnement est difficile car interdit dans l'enceinte de la vieille ville et payant avec parcmètre à proximité mais la proprio nous avait indiqué un endroit gratuit.
pas mal l'itinéraire ! en revanche les deux jours de sienne et s géminiano paraissent trop importants ; j'étais en toscane cet été et l'été dernier et je l'ai fait sans problème en une journée ; si tu peux gagner une journée tu peux pousser à 40 minutes de Sienne à Cortone, Montepulciano, vous ne serez absolument pas déçus. (si tu as la chance d'être à Camucia - à 2 kilomètres de Cortone - un jeudi matin tu auras un immense marché à l'italienne ! c'est génial ! bon voyage !
Effectivement pour Lucca, j'avais cru comprendre que c'est la galère pour se garer. On verra bien sur place... Si on doit marcher, on marchera, il suffit de ne pas oublier une bonne paire de chaussures!!
Finalement, je crois que nous n'allons pas réserver d'hotel à l'avance nous non plus. Tout le monde me dit qu'il n'y a pas besoin à cette période de l'année... Je vais suivre ton conseil jessicawilli, comme ça nous serons un peu plus libre pour faire varier l'itinéraire...

C'est en surfant su le net que je suis tombé sur ce site. Voyant votre interrogation, je me suis inscrit.
Pour ce qui est de la TOSCANE comme de l'ITALIE en générale, mon épouse et moi l'avons parcourue + de 10 fois. DIX FOIS venise, 5 à 6 fois SIENNE et les environs etc..
Si cela vous intéresse, je vous enverrai un itinéraire qui je pense répondra à votre demande.
A chacun de nos voyage nous avons emenez des amis, des connaissance s qui ont tous été enchantés, il y a 2 mois nous avons aidez une collègue de mon épouse et son mari dans leur périple Toscan.
Ton itinéraire est bien, compte tenu de la remarque faite sur la visite rapide de San Gimignano.
Je te conseille une suele destination en plus : Volterra, charmante petite ville ancienne perchée sur une colline dénuée de végétation. cette ville de l'abâtre possède une porte étrusque, un théâtre romain, et un vieux centre médiéval avec de belles ruelles.
Prendra-tu des campings ? ils sont en général à 18/20 €/nuit et bien équipés, c'est mieux que les probables 50€ du moindre hotel correct.
Viarregio ? rien à voir de particulié, aucun passé historique (c'est rare, en Italie !)
A Carrare, il y a de belles plages. L'eau est sans doute moins froide qu'en Bretagne ! 😉

Pas d'inquiétude à avoir, je ne te met pas la pression, je suis juste impatiente : d'habitude j'organise mes voyages 6 mois à l'avance. Mais là, je n'ai pas eu le temps, ça s'est décidé au dernier moment.... Je vais gouter à la joie d'un voyage "à l'arrache"! 🤪 Ca m'inquiète un peu, c'est tout.

Non, je ne vais pas prendre de camping. Je l'avoue, j'aime bien avoir mon petit confort... surtout que ce voyage est un cadeau d'anniversaire (très en retard, mais bon, mieux vaut tard que jamais!), donc ce n'est pas moi qui paye!! 😛
Ok, j'enlève Viareggio de l'itinéraire.... je remplace par Carrare ou une autre petite ville du coin.

Voici comment je le ferai ce voyage. Partant d'ANNECY, je pense que vous allez prendre la direction Aoste vers Gêne.En descendant sur l'autoroute vers la SPEZIA, arrètez-vous à Portovenere à partir duquel vous visitez les (CINQUE TERRE) par la route très difficile d'accè, prenez le bateau pas trop bon marché mais vous arrivez à chacun des villages de pêcheur flanqué au creux de la falaise.De là, vous continuez l'autoroute qui vous amène à hauteur de Viareggio( rien à voir, mais de là vous faite un crochet par LUCCA a voir mais ok stationnement ???
Vous redescendez sur PISE, la tour, la place des cavaliers.
Après quoi deux possibilité, soit vous vous dirigez sur Florence et là vous reprenez l'itinéraire à l'envers, démarrer à FLORENCE ( **)
Soit vous longez la côte vers GROSSETO > ORBETELLO et le MONTE argentario.
en continuant et à hauteur de MARINA DI PESCIA ROMANA prendre la route en direction de PITIGLIANO sur son piton rocheux, vers SOVANA-SORANO( un autre visage de la Toscane) reprenez alors la route vers ORVIETO (a voir) après quoi vous vous dirigez en direction de l'autoroute ROME-FLORENCE. Prendre la direction de Florence, sortir à BETOLLE ( SIENNE) en prenant à droite vous pouvez vous diriger sur PERUGIA et ASSISE
( si vous avez du temps).
Sinon vous prenez à gauche la nationale vers SIENNE.
SIENNE à ne pas rater, mais aussi chercher la S438 la route des crètes
(pas nécessairement signalée) prendre cette route en direction de ASCIANO.
Dans cette direction, vous avez MONTALCINO-PIENZA-MONTEPULCIANO.
De l'autre coté de SIENNE vous avez la région du chianti, verdure et vignoble pour moi - intéressant.
Vous quittez SIENNE et sa région en prenant l' aurélia route de type autoroute non payante. Sur cette rouite vous avez un petit bourg appeler MONTEREGGIONI çà vaut le petit détour ( pas plus d'un quart d'heure) vous reprenez laroute vers FLORENCE, prendre la sortie PONGIBONSI de là vous diriger sur SAN GIMIGNANO ensuite poursuivre sur FLORENCE (à la fin de la route)(**)
Pour le retour je vous conseille de vous diriger sur BOLOGNE direction PARME (a voir) ensuite faire MANTOVA entouré de marais très agréable impression de calme et de sérénité.
Remonter sur VERONE (incontournable à votre àge) vous diriger sur BRESCIA > BERGAME (a voir) ensuite direction MILAN > TURIN /AOSTE et retour à la maison.
Je pourrai encore m'étendre mais pour huit jours c'est pas mal croyez-moi.
Munissez-vous du routard de la TOSCANE et NORD DE L' ITALIE. Pour le logement sans réservation vous n'aurez pas de gros problèmes en cette saison, mais n'attendez pas 20 heures pour vous poser.
Sachez que à chacun de mes voyage, j'ai pratiquement toujours trouvé un ITALIEN parlant Français (Ils aiment parlé Français)
Voilà, quoique vous fassiez, moi j'ai un peu voyagé en vous retraçant ce périple.
On t' a suggéré d'écourter Sienne. je ne suis pas tout à fait d'accord c'est à mon avis le plus bel endroit de Toscane.
La Toscane c'est grand mais pas tant que ça. Je crois que vous pourriez choisir juste 2 ou 3 points de chute et voyager autour ça évite au moins de chercher tous les soirs un lit ... par exemple vous pourriez rester une nuit de plus à Sienne et faire une excursion dans le sud, Montepulciano (vino nobile...) Pienza et peut être Montalcino. Cette région, le Crete senesi, est la plus photogénique de Toscane et d'ailleurs la plupart des cartes postales etc ... de maisons avec leur rangée de cyprès viennent de là.
Attention tous les soirs vers 18h30 19h c'est la passagiata, il faut être dans les rues quand les gens sortent rencontrer leurs voisins, il y a un ambiance extraordinaire.
Quand je voyage en Italie en septembre Octobre je ne reserve pas l'hôtel mais surtout je négocie le prix des chambres, on obtient souvent 20% sur le prix annoncé.
Je n'ai pas eu le temps de vous remercier tous avant de partir, alors je le fais maintenant : merci beaucoup pour tous vos conseils.
Finalement, j'ai presque suivi l'itinéraire que j'avais prévu au départ, rajouté quelques villages au passage, mais je n'ai pas eu le temps d'aller explorer la région au sud de Sienne. Enfin, ce n'est pas grave, l'italie n'est pas si loin, ça sera l'occasion d'un prochain voyage...
Quelques commentaires sur le voyage : Lucca : j'ai adoré!! Ce petit village fortifié quasiment piéton a beaucoup de charme. Florence : Très jolie ville, avec de beaux monuments. J'ai juste regretté qu'il y ait autant de monde. Du coup la visite des jardins de Boboli n'en a été que plus apprécié, pour son calme et ses belles vues sur la ville, surtout que le temps était superbe : pas un nuage, et température très douce (voire chaude au soleil!) pour un mois d'octobre. le Chianti et ses villages (notamment Greve) : très agréable, de belles vues tout au long de route. Sienne : tout comme Lucca, j'ai adoré. La façade du Duomo était en rénovation mais il y avait une photo à taille réelle sur la bache qui cache les échafaudages, c'était marrant à voir. Je vous conseille particulièrement d'aller dans le museo dell'opera del Duomo (juste à côté du Duomo), vous pourrez monter sur une façade pas finie : la vue y est superbe sur Sienne et ses environs!! Et bien spur ne pas oublier d'aller sur l'incontournable place Il Campo!! Monterrigioni : tout petit village très mignon. San Gimignano : village très particulier, avec ses grandes tours, très joli. Mais le temps a été vraiment pourri lorsque nous y étions, nous n'avons donc pas pu l'apprécié à sa juste valeur. Pise : la tour à voir, c'est tout! A croire que tous les touristes de la Toscane se retrouvent là, tellement il y avait de monde!! Mais c'est quand même à voir.
à Florence il faut absolument visiter "Les Offices" (musée) mais pour ne pas faire 6 h de file d'attente, vous pouvez réserver les places à l'avance ; vous rentrer par une autre porte où là vous attendez 10mn ! (tèl aux offices pour réservation)
pour les plages sur la cote toscane elles sont souvent payantes Je ne connais pas encor Viareggio, je m'y rend pour le carnaval 2007.
à Florence ne pas manquer le petit salut obligatoire au beau David (au musée)
La région se trouvant au N.E de Florence est parait il très belle aussi je n'ai pas eut le temps
moi je te conseille la ville d'Arezzo aussi, qui n'est pas touristique du tout!!
Petit détour à la gelateria-osteria Cassia Vetus, à côté d'Arezzo ou' l'on mange les meilleures glaces d'Italie et des très bons plats de la région (à pas manquer: la ribollita et la pappa al pomodoro!), l'Osteria dell' Acquolina à Terranova Bracciolini (Arezzo) c'est une trattoria typique ou' l'on peut manger une très bonne bistecca alla fiorentina et une ribollita devant la cheminée...
Si non, pour les fashionistas, entre Florence et Arezzo il y a pleins de dêpots de grands marques comme Prada, Gucci, D&G, Fendi etc ou' l'on peut tout acheter à moitié prix! Je n'irais pas à Pisa et je ferais les 5 Terre (avec halte à Rapallo) au lieu de Viareggio!

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.

I’ve found some great deals on flights to two destinations: Menorca in the Balearic Islands and Alghero in Sardinia.
The flights would take us from Bordeaux to Menorca on the evening of 9/07 and return to Bordeaux in the evening on 13/07.
Or to Alghero very early on 10/07 (departure at 6 AM) and return in the mid-afternoon on 13/07.
We love beautiful landscapes, the sea, snorkeling, walks (hiking), and the charm of villages.
We want to spend some quality time as a couple without our kids and mix discovery with relaxation.
I can’t make up my mind. The transport costs are roughly the same when you factor in parking for Sardinia since the early departure means no public transport from home.
We’ve never been to Menorca, Sardinia, or Italy at all. I’ve been to Majorca, though.
Menorca would be 4 nights and 4 days, while Alghero would be 3 nights and 2.5 days.
Also, what itinerary would you recommend for Alghero and Menorca?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Summer 2027 is going to be Norwegian for us!
We’re heading to the Lofoten Islands first, then Senja, near Tromsø, and finally the North Cape.
We’ll likely start from northern Finland (flight tickets and car rentals are more affordable there).

I’d love to get your thoughts on the following itinerary (late May). I like to take my time in ruins and museums, and beaches don’t interest me. I’ll be staying in hostels and using public transport. Do you see any major omissions or things that aren’t worth it?

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
We’re a group of 4 heading out at the end of June for 11 days.
I’m just starting my research.
We’ll be renting a regular car, not a 4x4.
I’m not finding a ton of info on the North.
Would love your take on all those kilometers—is there a route that lets us cut out a section?
