Bonjour tout le monde,
Ma copine et moi partons en Asie du Sud Est pour 4 mois, arrivee a Bangkok le 02/02/2009 depart le 27/05/2009. Etant novices, en effet c est notre premier grand voyage, nous aimerions obtenir quelques conseils par rapport a notre itineraire et budget a prevoir. Surtout, nous avons pris nos billets d’avion sur un coup de tete, autant dire qu on pas eu le temps de preparer grand chose…
Concernant l’itineraire, j aimerais surtout tracer les grandes lignes. Que vous puissiez m’indiquer ce qui l ne faut surtout pas manquer. Nous sommes plutot improvistes, je n’ai donc pas de date precise.
Apres avoir passé 1 ou deux jours a Bangkok, nous voudrions nous diriger vers les iles en mer d’adaman, y passer quelques semaines, histoire de commencer notre trip a la plage J De la, est il possible de renouveller le visa a la frontiere Malaisienne?
Ensuite nous aimerions visiter le Nord de la Thailande (trekking) sachant que nous nous deplacerons essentiellement en Bus, quels endroits recommandez vous entre Bangkok et Chiang Mai?
De la nous nous rendrons au Laos, on pense visiter la partie Nord Uniquement, après, ca dependra aussi de notre timing. Pour ensuite nous rendre au Vietnam. La nous aimerions bien longer toute la cote du Nord au Sud. Donc idem, pourriez vous me citer quelques endroits a ne pas manquer dans ces deux Pays?
Ensuite, nous aimerions passer quelques jours au Cambodge histoire de voir les temples d’Angkor, puis retour a Bangkok. Nous envisgeons de prendre l’avion pour nous rendre en Malaisie ou vie un de mes amis, donc pour cette partie je compte sur lui pour nous guider!
Voila grossomdo notre parcours. D’abords est ce qu il vous semble logique? ( par rapport au climat en autre). En 4 mois nous sommes bien conscients qu on ne verra pas tout. On recherche surtout aventure et decouverte. Si possible en evitant au maximum les coins bondes de touristes.
Pour notre Budget, comme indique plus haut nous nous deplacerons essentiellement en Bus. Nous nous logerons uniquement en GH ( Si possible). A votre avis, combien devrions nous prevoir? On a prevu 6000-7000EUR.

Pour le budget, 7000 € pour 114 jours sur place, soit 61€/jour c'est tranquille, ça permet de se faire plaisir et de bien vivre.
Au départ, posez-vous au moins 5 jours à bangkok, ça en vaut vraiment la peine.
pour les iles de la mer d'Andaman, février est un mois extra!! Va voir se petit site: www.andaman-island-hopping.com avec toutes les îles de la mer d'Andaman. pour moi les meilleur Koh Yao Noï, Koh Muuk, Koh Kradan, Koh Bulon Leh, Koh Libong, Koh Adang et Koh Tarutao, à éviter Koh Phiphi.
Tu pourras facilement renouveller ton visa à la frontière malaise (îles Langkawi par exemple).
Entre Bangkok et Chiang Maï à ne pas rater: Sukkhothaï, Sri Satchanilhaï, Kampeng Phet, Lampang, Mae Sot, Mae Sariang, Phrae, Nan.
Pour le VietNam, j'accroche moins, mais quelques endroits à part Nin Binh (80km au sud d'Hanoï), Quy Nhon, Kontum sur les plateaux, hoï An, Hué, à éviter Nah Trang (vraiment beaucoup trop bétonnée)
Ton parcours est plutôt dans le bon sens, il fera très chaud en mai au Cambodge.
Voilà bon trip dans cette superbe et accueillante région du Monde.
Quelques avis un peu en vrac, d'abord pour dire que votre itinéraire semble bien, cela fait 4 ou 5 pays en 4 mois, pour la saison c'est parfait aussi.
Pour le budget, tous ces pays sont plutôt bon marché, si vous logez dans des petits guest house, cela vous coûtera en moyenne entre 10 et 15 dollars.(Plus ou moins!)
Pour la Thaïlande, je ne peux pas vous conseiller.
Pour le LAOS, vous pouvez passer quelques jours à Vientiane, (pas grand chose à voir mais c'est agréable), puis 2 ou 3 jours à Vang Vieng, ( tout petit village, beaucoup de routards, mais la région est jolie question paysages), puis Luang Prabang et ses temples merveilleux, ensuite en montant vers le Nord il y a Luang Namtha, 2 jours, une nuit à Oudomxai pas terrible, puis Muang Sing super pour découvrir un marché typique et un trecking dans des villages de minorités ethniques (Akkhas, Yaos, entre autres.)
Compter 3 à 4 semaines pour ce circuit.
Le VIETNAM est très intéressant, il faut compter un bon mois pour aller du Nord au Sud.
De Hanoï, il y a plusieurs excursions à ne pas louper : vers le Nord, 2, 3 jours à Sapa et Bac Ha pour le marché du Dimanche. Retour Hanoï, puis Hoa Lu (Ninh Binh), jolie balade en barque, paysages avec des pitons rocheux.
Ensuite bien sûr la Baie d'Along avec une nuit sur place, possible dormir sur une jonque.
Puis Hue, très agréable. La citadelle, la rivière des parfums.
Ensuite petit village de Hoi An, touristique mais très sympa.
Puis la plage de Nhatrang pour se reposer un peu car le Vietnam c'est fatigant !
Ensuite Saïgon, et 3 jours dans le Delta du Mekong.
Tout ça est un circuit "classique", mais on peut varier et rajouter certains endroits.
Pour le CAMBODGE, je connais peu de choses, compter 4, 5 jours pour les temples d'Angkor et la petite ville de Siem Reap, balade en bateau sur le Tonle Sap. Plus d'autres visites éventuelles que d'autres vous conseilleront mieux que moi...( Je ne sais pas si vous comptez passer par Phnom Penh.)

Pareil que ta copine et toi, je pars également 4 mois, du 15/01 au 15/05, avec le même itinéraire théorique ou presque.

4 semaines en thailande
3 semaines au cambodge
1 semaine au Laos
2 semaines au Vietnam
4-5 semaines à Bali minimum (à voir si je peux obtenir le visa pour 2 mois pour pas être limitée)
1 ou 2 dernières semaines en thailande.
Si je peux me permettre de donner mon avis, une semaine au Laos c'est trop court, 15 jours au Vietnam pareil, trop court aussi, à moins de se limiter au Nord ou au Sud.
Mais c'est juste mon avis...

Pas la peine de réserver, cela ne m'est jamais arrivé pendant mes nombreux voyages, les guest house sont nombreuses partout...Au pire, tu auras toujours de la place un peu plus loin.

( Si tu vas en Malaisie, mais ton copain te conseillera, il y a la plage de LANGKAWI qui très belle. Sinon de tous ces pays que je connais, c'est quand même la Malaisie qui m'a le moins plus.)
Si j'eatis vous, je "couperais" la Malaisie, qui n'est pas tellement differente de la Thailande (je ne parle pas de l'Islamisme evidemment) et passerais plus de temps ailleurs (Cambodge et Vietnam). Si vs tenez vraiment a y aller, je couperais des jours en Thailande pour faire la meme chose

je pense qu'en fait, il va profiter du fait que son ami habite en Malaisie pour lui rendre visite en plus de voir le pays : pas de malaisie, pas d'ami!
Quant à moi, merci pour les suggestions pour rallonger sur le Vietnam et le Laos. Comme je l'ai dit, c'est un planning théorique.
Je repars de Bangkok aux alentours du 15 mai dans tous les cas, et je verrais bien comment tout va se goupiller.
Ma priorité de découverte, c'est clairement Thaïlande, Cambodge (en plus, j'y vais également pour voir un copain et nous connaissant, le squat peut s'éterniser) et Bali.
Je me dis que pour cette première étape de mon tour du monde je n'ai QUE 4 mois (obligation de repasser un mois en France du 15 mai au 15 juin), et que multiplier les étapes peut certainement multiplier le nombre de tampons sur mon passeport, mais n'est pas forcément le but. Je me dis déjà que 4 mois pour 3 pays c'est peu. Alors 5...
Mais bon, ON VERRA BIEN : le plan, c'est pas de plan ou presque ;-)

les durées dans chaque pays semblent réalistes. Un avis, si vous ne passez que 2 semaines en Malaisie, ce qui est très court, ne faites que Bornéo.

On ne voit pas la Thailande comme une priorite, on est tout aussi impatient et curieux de decouvrir le Vietnam et Laos. On passera plus de temps en Thailande car c'est notre point d'arrive et depart, nous voulons commencer et finir notre voyage par la plage 🙂
En ce qui concerne les iles d'adaman est-il facile de trouver un Bungalow sur place? et quels sont les prix?

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. Hi everyone,
My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?
The idea is to know what to expect so we can prepare as best as possible. Thanks for your replies! !
