Bon matin, je parts en R.D. Samedi prochain et je ne savais pas si je devais prendre des médicaments pour la malaria mais finalement nous avons décidé de les prendre. J'ai appelé dans une clinique de voyage et ils m'ont dit que ce n'était pas levé. Nous prenons de la chloroquine 2 pilules l semaine avant le départ - pendant le voyage et 4 semaines au retour (2 pilules une fois semaine) Pour l'instant aucun effet secondaire. 😉
Je pars aussi pour la république le 10 février prochain. Je ne suis pas encore décider à prendre ou pas le médicament. Il parait que c est assez dispendieux et souvent des effets secondaires?? combien coute ce médicament et qu est ce qui t a décidé à le prendre?
Salut, Le médicaments pour moi et mon conjoint à couté environ $16.00 Ce n'est pas dispendieux. Je suis un peu peureuse et j'aime mieux prévoir et ne pas me stresser avec tout les piqures de moustique. L'année dernière nous sommes allés du côté de la Rivièra Maya et je me suis fait piqué je crois que les moustiques m'aime 😕 J'avais peur moi aussi des effets secondaires mais tu voies je l'ai pris samedi matin au petit déj. et je n'ai eu encore aucun effet secondaire. J'ai aussi téléphoné dans une clinique de santé voyage et elle m'a répondu que cela prendrait surement une couple d'année avant de lever le médicament. Ils disent qu'il y a beaucoup de nouvelle construction et qu'il y plusieurs personne qui viennent d'Haiti et que la bas il y beaucoup de malaria.??? A quel hôtel vas-tu ? Bon voyage 😎
Le medicament n'a pas d'effet secondaire ICI! C'est la bas que ca se complique, car nous sommes supposes eviter l'exposition au soleil !! ce qui est ironique non?? J'ai moi meme souffert des effets secondaires qu'une fois rendue la bas. J'ai meme du visiter un docteur la bas a cette occasion (vive l'assurance collective).
Pour les moustiques... j'ai ete 4 fois l'annee derniere en RD, j'en ai vu a peine. Il y a plus a Montreal l'ete qu'en RD durant la saison seche.
Bizarre que l'OMS ne considere pas la RD comme une place a risque, mais Sante Canada oui. Ni meme Vision Mondiale qui juge important de proteger ses enfants...
Et je ne connais aucun dominicain, d'origine ou haitien, qui ai eu la malaria. Aucun n'etait en mesure de m'en nommer un seul. Et sachant que c'est une maladie qui peut prendre du temps avant de se declarer, rien ne prouve que les quelques touristes sur les millions qui vont la bas ont bien attraper cette maladie en RD!
Et pendant ce temps, les pharmacies et les medecins des cliniques medicales se mettent l'argent dans les poches... imaginer, oui que 16$... mais si on pense qu'il a eu penurie de chloroquine l'hiver dernier au Quebec... $$$$$$

les effets secondaires?? Rien ici au Quebec, mais ma dose que je devais prendre la bas, m'a donne comme effets secondaires: migraine ENORME! vomissements a cause d'elle a un rythme soutenu (3-4 fois a l'heure), diarhee qui m'a tenue eveillee durant 2 nuits... au point que j'avais du annuler 2 excursions que j'avais achetees (incapable de seulement faire le trajet pour m'y rendre). Une chance que j'avais achete ces excursionsa l'hotel aupres de mon representant (remboursement avec un billet du medecin)
J'ai vu les meme sypmtomes chez d'autres personnes. Je connais meme une personne qui en a eu une labyringite (etourdissements sans raison durant plusieurs semaines).
Et je souligne que je ne suis pas une personne a la sante fragile !! loin de la! mais comme il ne faut pas s'exposer inutilement au soleil (et on prend ca pour le sud!!!). Je ne suis meme pas une personne qui aime faire le bacon sur la plage 😛 et pourtant!
Il faut le dire... la peur de pogner ces maladies-la, bin ca fait vivre en partie l'industrie pharmaceutique, les producteurs mais aussi les pharmaciens commercants..et SURTOUT les fameuses "cliniques du voyageur" qui vivent de cela! Elles sont privees et ont donc bien besoin de clients! De plus, remarquez par vous-meme... ces fameux avertissements sur la malaria en RD arrivent annees apres annees juste au moment ou les gens choississent le pays qu'ils iront (debut de la haute saison touristique). Meme que l'ambassadeur de la RD a Ottawa a pose des questions a ce sujet.
L'OMS, Vision Mondiale, Medecins Sans Frontieres, etc ne levent pas le petit doigt pour enrayee la malaria en RD, pourtant ils s'empressent de le faire pour des pays comme le Senegal! Les avertissements en debut de saison, parlaient surtout de la region de Punta Cana... et parlait que vu que c'etait proche de la frontiere haitienne... heuuuu c'est parceque c'est a l'autre bout de l'ile?? Pas d'avertissements pour les regions comme Puerta Plata (BIN plus proche d'haiti pourtant), Juan Dolio, etc
Pour les vaccins comme l'hepatite, tetanos etc, je les conseille, ... parcequ'ils sont importants pour ici aussi. Je le precise.. mais pour la malaria... perso, je vais souvent en RD, et je n'en prends plus une seule pilule antipaludique. De toute facon, les moustiques semblent plus presents l'ete a Montreal qu'en RD, surtout durant la saison seche 😛

Perso, je me souviens plus du nom du medicament que j'ai pris, parceque ca fait plus d'un an de cela 😉
Par contre, je pourrais preciser que moi et les autres personnes dont je rapporte leur histoire perso face a ces "medicaments" antipaludique, nous avions pris des sortes differents.
J'admets ne pas trop comprendre pourquoi s'ostiner a vouloir prendre un medicament qui peut rendre malade pour une maladie qui dont l'Organisation mondiale de la sante ne trouve pas suffisament importante pour en faire un avertissement aux voyageurs en Republique Dominicaine.
De plus, il s'agit d'une maladie qui peut se declarer plusieurs mois APRES l'infection. Une maladie qui semble inconnue par les Dominicains (pas qu'ils ne connaissent pas le nom, plutot qu'ils ne connaissent personne qui l'a eue).

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...

The suspected origin is contamination in Namibia by jackals.
The contagion seems to be spreading.

It’s the bite that transmits the disease.
There are so-called "furious" forms with aggression, but also forms without aggression.
