Je souhaite descendre le Manambolo et visite des Tsingy tout début juillet. Je suis seul. Avez vous des informations sur la facilité pour trouver directement sur place :
- le transport entre Tsiroanomandidy et Belobaka
- un guide pour le trek entre Belobaka et Ankavandra
- un piroguier entre Ankavandra et les Tsingy
Avez vous déjà réalisé ce circuit ?
A défaut, qui est partant sur ces dates pour organiser le circuit complet
Depuis Antanarivo?
Nous l'avons fait il y a maintenant quelque temps (en nov. 2004).
Nous étions passés directement de Tsiroanomandidy à Ankavandra en avion (petit bimoteur à 20 place, réservé depuis la France... la fille d'Air Mad ne connaissait même pas ces patelins!)
Ensuite, il nous avait fallu moins d'une heure chrono pour trouver un piroguier pour descendre jusqu'à Bekopaka. 3 jours de descente dans une pirogue rudimentaire (tronc évidé, tout juste la largeur des fesses...).
Ce que ça nous avait coûté à l"époque: 16 euros par personnes pour l'avion (comme ces billets n'étaient jamais vendus en France, le prix n'avaient jamais été édités en euros... et vu l'évolution des francs malgaches... bonne pioche!)
Pour les 3 jours de descente en pirogue: de mémoire, nous avions payé 400.000 FMG (pour 2).
Evidemment, pour ce prix-là, on n'avait pas la glacière pour la bière fraîche le soir! Et nous avions apporté notre tente.
Un très bon souvenir.
MAIS ATTENTION! Ne croyez pas que les piroguiers que vous trouverez sur place sont des guides! non! ils savent pagayer, et voient l'occasion de gagner de l'argent. ce qui, en soit, est très honorable, mais il ne faut surtout pas compter sur eux pour gérer la sécurité!
Le notre a bien failli nous noyer, en ignorant tout simplement le risque de montée des eaux nocturnes alors que nous voyions bien les orages tonner en amont. Et ce, malgré nos remarques. Depuis ce jour, plus jamais nous ne nous faisons la réflexion "il est du coin, il doit mieux savoir que nous"! Ce jour-là (ou plutôt cette nuit-là), nous avons eu beaucoup de chance...

Je fais ma propre réponse après avoir descendu le Manambolo.
Antananarivo - Tsiroanomandidy : à la station de taxi brousse d'Anosito à Antananarivo - départs fréquents - route goudronnée - beaux paysages - environ 6h00
Tsiroanomandidy : annexe de l'hotel Manambolo - chambres avec salles de bain et eau chaude à 16000 Ar (5 euros ! très bien)
Tsiroanomandidy - Belobaka : taxis brousse (bâchés) en tout cas le matin - 4h30 de trajet sur une mauvaise piste
Belobaka : petit hôtel en centre ville (punaises de lit comprises...) pour 10000Ar (chambre seule - toilettes crades à la turque - douche avec un seau d'eau) - possible de faire les achats (riz, conserves, pâtes...) dans une petite épicerie. Les porteurs font la cuisine et amènent les casseroles.
Belobaka - Ankavandra : j'ai trouvé 2 porteurs extras Ridze et la femme de Todje (je vous les recommande - bonne cuisine en respectant l'hygiène). 50000Ar par personne (2 pour une personne seule, il faut peut être 3 pour 2) soit 15 euros environ par porteur. Le premier jour longue journée. 8h30 de marche à bon rythme avec pas mal de montées et descentes. Je suis arrivé épuisé dans un petit hameau. J'ai dormi sous la tente. On peut dormir dans une case avec des puces...
2ème journée un peu monotone au début avant d'attaquer la descente du plateau sur Ankavandra.
Ankavandra : nuit dans un hôtel avec bon lit - toilettes à la turque - douche avec un seau d'eau - 16000Ar - possible de faire les achats (riz, conserves, fromage, pâtes...) dans des épiceries ou sur le petit marché.
Descente du Manambolo : piroguier trouvé sur place - Stéphane sur place gère cela... et affecte un piroguier - 160 000Ar soit 50 euros environ - sûrement négociable... - voyage avec piroguier parlant peu le français dans des conditions assez sommaires (notamment cuisine et hygiène). Les 2 premières journées le fleuve coule faiblement avec peu de fond. On rame ! Nuit sur le sable en bord de rivière. On est loin de tout. Tous petits villages avec vie très simple.
Le 3ème jour on rentre dans les gorges et le paysage est beau. Je suis arrivé le 3ème jour vers 12h00. Cela m'a permis de faire les petits Tsingy l'après midi.
Tsingy : possible de trouver une voiture pour aller faire les grands Tsingys (80000Ar que j'ai partagé avec 2 autres touristes)
Retour Morondava : il y a parfois un taxi brousse qui rentre d'Antsalova ... mais aléatoire. J'ai fait du stop le matin au bac de Bekopaka en demandant aux jeeps des touristes...Difficile avec les français....

Pour prendre 1 seul guide cela doit être possible mais il faudra certainement que tu portes (nourriture pour 2 + retour du guide + tes affaires + casseroles ...). Franchement pour gagner 15 euros et porter, je ne pense pas que cela vaille la peine. La 1ere journée est très longue.
Pour trouver un piroguier à Ankavandra, cela ne posera pas de problème : tu demandes à ton guide ou à l'hôtel

J'ai fait, grace à toi que je remercie encore une fois, la descente de la Manambolo en partant d'Ankavandra le 19 sept.2011
J'ai donc marché pendant 2 jours ( Belobaka-Ankavandra ) avec seulement 1 guide ( Todje ) car j'étais entièrement autonome et je transportais bouffe, camping gaz, tente... dans mon sac qui pesait environ 23kg.J'avais négocié 40 000Ar.J'en ai quand même chié car le rythme étais rapide.
A Ankavandra j'ai trouvé 1 pirogue pour 160 000Ar non négociables, chez Mme Lalisy qui a une petite gargote.(190 000Ar avec le proprio de l'hôtel)
Nous avons mis 3j. et 1/2 pour atteindre Bekopaka avec mon piroguier prénommé Choura et qui, comme le tien, parlait trés trés peu le Français mais qui était adorable.
Malgré une certaine monotonie, j'ai beaucoup apprécié cette descente.
Au total, j'ai passé 2 mois à Mada où ce n'était que du bonheur.
C'est un peuple extraordinairement attachant et regrette de ne pas avoir pu prolonger mon séjour de 2 mois supplémentaires.
J'espère te satisfaire, sinon n'hésites pas à me contacter.
Je te souhaite une superbe année 2012 avec une pêche d'enfer et beaucoup de voyages car il n'y a que ça de vrai.

Merci de toutes ces infos. Je vois que le Manambolo a aussi une partie monotone à descendre, néanmoins, est-ce mieux que la Tsiribine qui est vraiment très monotone? Entre Manambolo ou Mankory, laquelle de ces deux descentes est la plus riche d'un point de vue paysage? A+

taxi bousse 4X4 jusqu'a belobaka
trek de 2 jours sur 70 km de belopaka a ankavandra avec 3 porteurs (Claude et Ernetsine(femme de toudg) a contacter sur place a belopaka, Claude parle très bien le Français)
descente de la Manambolo en pirogue sur 3 jours avec Naina ( piroguier parlant peu Français mais très sympa et bon cuistot )
arrivée directement a Bekopaka pour les tsingy

Ca a l'air plutôt pas mal comme balade. Je suppose qu'il n'y a pas de rapide pour naviguer avec une pirogue !!

c'était superbe , très suvage : pas de routes , pas de fils électriques
on nous a signalé des crocos , mais nous n'en avons pas vu , juste des traces
autrement beaucoups d'oiseaux , martins pècheurs , quoa , pintades
il n'y a pas de rapides , mais beaucoups de bancs de sable ( il faut descendre régulierement pour délester la pirogue )
le piroguier fait de nombreux zigzags pour suivre le courant et éviter les bancs de sable

Pour la nuit, c'était sur les rives, camping sommaire sur le sable. Pratiquement seuls et isolés. Quelques gamins des alentours sont venus nous voir. Au lointain, les chants d'une cérémonie aux morts. Assez magique. En 2011 quand j'y suis allé, je n'ai pas vu un seul occidental de mon départ en bus de Tana jusqu'aux Tsingy.
C'est vrai que la descente est sauvage et sympa mais malheureusement à part quelques hérons et martin-pêcheurs je n'ai vu rien d'autre. Il y a longtemps qu'on ne voit plus de crocos.
Le piroguier et moi même nous dormions sur les plages. Moi dans ma petite tente et lui à même le sable.
Il n'y a pas de rapides et en plus il y a beaucoup d'endroits ou il faut descendre de la pirogue pour pouvoir avancer sans toucher le fond sablonneux.

Après le Sénégal, le Burkina et la Guinée, ma compagne et moi partons faire un tour à vélo à Mada en août et sept. Dans le programme, on envisage de descendre la Manambolo, mais l'organisation de notre boucle nous contraint à arriver par le sud. Du coup on se demande si l'itinéraire de trek entre Bekopaka et Ankavandra est faisable à VTT ? Dans le cas contraire on reverra peut-être notre boucle pour faire quand même la descente...
Par ailleurs, de ce que vous avez vu, y a-t-il des pirogues plus grandes que d'autres pour faciliter le transport des vélos ?
Enfin pouvez-vous nous faire un petit topo sur les tarifs que vous avez rencontré dans le secteur (guides, pirogue, liaison voitures) ?

a mon avis pas de problème pour prendre les vélos de bekopaka a ankavandra
nous avons vu des malgaches faire le trajet en vélo
coté sécurité : il est nécessaire de prendre un guide : c'est la région des voleurs de zébu
pas sur que le guide ait un vélo pour vous suivre
les pirogues sont des troncs de manguier évidés : lg 5 m , largeur 0.6 m
pas de problème pour mettre le vélo sur la pirogue mais ça nécessitera de prendre une pirogue par personne
il y a peu de tirant d'eau et beaucoup de bancs de sable
tarifs 2015 :
10000 ar /jour / porteur pour treck + nourriture pour tout le monde
200000 ar en tout pour une pirogue avec piroguier + nourriture
hébergement : entre 15000 et 30000 ar la nuit
les nuits en pirogue se font sur bancs de sable dans la tente
Je vais faire la descente de Manambolo la semaine prochaine (septembre 2016) et j'aimerais bien savoir le planning de votre voyage et les prix que vous avez payés pour les guides/porteurs/piroguier et aussi le transport que vous avez utilisés de Tana a Belopaka, et de Tsingy a Morondava.

de tsyromandidy a Belobaka : nous avons pris le 4X4 brousse ( 4 h de piste ) a la station de taxi brousse
de Bekopaka a belo sur tsiribina nous avons fait du Stop au départ du bac (2h d'attente )
de belo sur tsiribina a Morondova en TATA brousse (gros bus 4X4) (4h de remplissage , 4 h de trajet
nous sommes arrivés a Morondova vers 16 h

I’d describe myself as a "former diver." I’ve done around 450 dives in natural environments across different settings. I put diving on hold about 5 years ago due to work/schedule constraints and, let’s say, family reasons. Since then, I’ve still tried to stay in shape with hiking trips, running, swimming, and freediving in protected environments, etc...
I’m planning to get back into the bubbles somewhere this year.

For my trip to Thailand with two teens aged 13 and 16, do you have any info or tips to share? I’d like to go jet skiing, either in Phuket or Koh Samui, but I’d need at least two jet skis since there are three of us. Can my 16-year-old ride alone? Our Bali-Lombok trip is taking shape, but we’d love to wrap up the stay with at least a solid week of snorkeling somewhere the coral is still in great condition. In your opinion, are the Gili Secrets in southern Lombok better than Flores Island, where there are supposedly amazing underwater landscapes?
We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!

For flight schedules and prices from Bordeaux, and ease of reaching Alexandria by bus/train afterward, I’m considering spending 4 days around Hurghada (direct flight from Bdx).
I don’t think I’ll go for courses to get my Level 1, since I don’t plan to dive often in the future—unless you think it’s better than doing 2 discovery dives in this area (I only have one baptism under my belt, in Koh Tao 15 years ago—amazing! But I’m not targeting trips for diving; I need to go to Alexandria, so this is a chance to get back into diving and snorkeling).
I’m looking for a spot to do some snorkeling, 1 or 2 baptisms, and explore the surroundings. I’ll arrive in early March on the evening of Day 0. I’ll have 3.5 days after that (I’m planning to leave on Day 4 around 4 PM by bus/train).
Is Hurghada completely to be avoided in favor of another area in the Red Sea, or can I still have a nice 3.5 days there? I know places like Dahab are more pleasant, but the convenience and timing of Hurghada appeal to me...
I usually prefer more authentic travel spots and places, but I’m willing to compromise on that if it’s still worth it for the diving.
Or should I only stay 2.5 days and head to Alexandria a day earlier? (I’ve already seen Cairo and Luxor a bit.)

Compared to my buddy, I love macro photography (nudibranchs, etc.), so I’d also love any tips on that.
And completely unrelated to diving, but I’d also like info on places to visit (national parks, reserves, etc.) to see the local wildlife.

I’m heading to Malaysia from mid-May to mid-August 2025 for nearly 3 months.
With my advanced certification in hand for a few years now, I’m on the lookout for the best dive spots in Malaysia.
I’ve obviously heard about the Perhentians and Sipadan.
Someone mentioned Tioman too, but not necessarily for diving.
Do you have any feedback on these places for diving? (visibility, marine life diversity, etc.)
Any idea about the rates for fun dives?
Dive centers you’d recommend?

I’m looking for a destination in Vietnam for January to spend a week and go snorkeling.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I know Thailand well, and with my Thai friend, we’d like to try a different country.
This is the excursion we shouldn’t have done in Mauritius.
We did it with The Friendly Dodo, but from what I saw, it’s the same with most agencies.
Departure at 6 a.m. (even though the sun rises at 7 a.m. in August). Why? Because there’s only one well-known spot where the dolphins are, and all the agencies race to get there first.
For 45 to 60 minutes, it’s just straight-line navigation to the spot. No one’s looking for dolphins—we’re just speeding there in silence, full throttle.
Once we arrive, there are already 5-6 boats. The dolphins are there, sure. The boats fight for the best position, cutting off the dolphins’ path, and then—go, go, go—everyone jumps in. Not a single instruction is given on how to approach the dolphins respectfully. Result: everyone jumps in at the same time from 3 boats, creating a huge splash, and rushes toward the dolphins. Outcome: faced with this chaos, the dolphins dive, and you can’t see them from the boat anymore. The swimmers who are right in their path might see them pass below for a few seconds at best.
Everyone climbs back onto the boats, and as soon as the dolphins resurface, the same cycle starts all over again.
After 5 or 6 jumps like this (3 of which I didn’t even see the dolphins), it’s back to the port the same way we came.
Not a single explanation is given during the entire excursion about the dolphins themselves or how to approach them.
Safety-wise, I didn’t feel comfortable either with all the boats fighting for position. I bumped into another boat (no pain) while swimming, and I wasn’t reassured about the propellers.
With all this circus, my daughters didn’t even want to get in the water. The problem is, when you stay on the boat, you don’t get much out of it either—because as soon as the dolphins resurface, everyone jumps in haphazardly and scares them off again.
Having done the same kind of outing in Réunion, I can confirm it’s nothing like this (much better organized and ultimately much more rewarding in Réunion).
Under these conditions, this is an activity we never should’ve done! !

I’ve been in Malaysia for a month now and still have two more to go. I started traveling with friends, but I’ll be solo for the next month and a half.
We did a pretty classic route: Perhentians, Cameron Highlands (which I found pointless), Tioman, and Kinabatangan in Borneo. Now I’m thinking of heading to Redang Island—Langkawi is also an option, but it doesn’t appeal to me as much. Any feedback on these two spots?

Any thoughts on the diving there?
So far, I haven’t had much luck with diving—at the Perhentians, it was pretty disastrous with water at 31°C 😵😫
I’d love to find a nice island where I can meet people (locals and travelers) because going from a group of six to solo at the end is going to feel weird.

notre voyage en Indonésie étant annulé, et notre agence nous déconseillant l'Egypte, nous sommes à la recherche d'un lieu où nous pourrons faire du snorkeling depuis la plage (et en excursion bateau). Je connais un peu Zanzibar pour y être allé il y a plus de 10 ans, ainsi que Pemba (mais les prix ont explosé), et je me tourne aussi vers Mafia.
Est ce propice au snorkeling , des resorts ont ils des house reef où l'on peut voir des choses intéressantes (je ne m'attends pas non plus au niveau de la Sulawesi ou des Raja).

Donc, je planifie de passer l'hiver au sud de l'Europe, et ou vers les Balkans et j'aimerais savoir si c'est partout de la plongée en eau froide donc avec le drysuit et tout ou s'il y a des endroits qui sont superbes et ou je peux plonger avec un suit plus épais seulement même exemple en février et mars. J'ai lu pas mal ici sur le portugal et malte https://divezone.net/diving/portugal mais j'aimerais l'opinion récente de plongeurs du coin! :)
Ce que j'aime en plongée c'est l'eau claire, les fonds marins attrayants, la vie aquatique particulière, etc. Je ne suis pas une fan d'épaves, mais je considérerai tout les sites / pays proposés :)
Nous sommes allé faire une plongée profonde de 100 pieds à la carrière Flintkote. Nous sommes descendu sur le site de l'autobus. êtes vous déjà allé plus bas? comme a la voiture?
