Je sais que la question a été abordée de nombreuses fois, j'ai fait un maximum de recherches et je viens ici chercher des avis pour confirmer ou non ce que je pense avoir compris. Je ne fais pas de parano et je sais que je vais certainement passer un super voyage, j'essaie de poser les différentes options et de mieux comprendre 😄
Je pars le 10 octobre pour un séjour de 4 mois minimum en Thailande puis Laos, Cambodge, Vietnam avec une amie et nos sacs à dos (1 mois/pays normalement).
Vu la multiplicité des informations concernant le paludisme, il est difficile d'y voir clair.
Outre ces indications à respecter :Porter, dès la tombée de la nuit, des vêtements qui protègent tout le corps, y compris les bras et les jambes. Les vêtements doivent être enduits d'insecticides.
Utiliser des répulsifs pour la peau et les vêtements (que vous trouverez en pharmacie) entre le coucher du soleil et l’aube.
Utiliser une moustiquaire imprégnée de répulsif.
Partant 4 mois et à cette période (mi octobre à mi-février minimum) :
Faut-il prévoir un traitement préventif à prendre chaque jour ?
OU
un traitement présomptif en cas de symptômes (avec une boite de Malarone par exemple) si impossible de faire des tests ?
PUIS/OU
un traitement curatif si le paludisme est avéré sous forme sévère (via quinine intraveineuse) ?
En effet le Lariam est présenté comme entrainant des effets secondaires vraiment néfastes, je l'ai donc éliminé.
Le Malarone est pour moi hors budget pour une longue période en préventif.
Il reste la Doxycicline mais les avis divèrgent : est-ce réellement un traitement préventif à envisager pour une période de 4 mois ? De plus la Doxycicline n'est indiqué à la base que comme alternative à la contre-indication à la mefloquine ...
Si certains ont des retours d'expérience...
Il est toujours préférable de prévenir que guérir mais vu la durée du séjour et les polémiques autour des médicaments et de leurs nombreux effets secondaires chez certains je souhaitais avoir si possible des avis comme je suis un peu perdu... et en espérant que ça puisse servir pour tous.

Le soir un pantalon long protege correctement contre les piqures et une bombe de repulsif pourquoi pas style 5x5 tropical , ce que j ai utlisé lors de mon premier long sejours repulsif a prendre en france (sur place introuvable).
Le mieux parle a ton medecin traitant de tes craintes mais bon si j avais ecouté le mien qui connais pas l asie je repartais au vietnam deja avec une valise de medicaments, en fait j ai pris et tout vas bien depuis mon retour en france et je viens de repartir au vietnam en pleine forme.

dans toutes les capitales régionales, au moins, il y a un service de médecine tropicale et infectieuse. Ils établiront un diagnostic au vu de ton voyage précis et de ton état de santé. L'exppérince des autres est à prendre avec d'infinies pincettes !
Je ne sais pas trop où j'irais exactement, c'est pour ça que j'avais envisagé un traitement préventif pour ne pas me limiter dans mes déplacements. Mais je ne pense pas partir plus de quelques jours dans la jungle, la majorité du temps dans des zones habitées.
Oui mon médecin n'a pas l'air au fait des médicaments ou des différentes options, il m'a proposé le Lariam...

Mon voyage n'est pas très "précis" justement, c'est peut être ça qu'il faudrait que je fasse en premier ... mais je ne voulais pas à la base trop organiser et voir avec les locaux et les autres voyageurs rencontrés sur place quels conseils de destinations, vivre un peu étape par étape. Mais au niveau santé ça à peut être l'air plus compliqué que ça. Dur de se faire une idée quand c'est la première fois qu'on se rend dans un endroit aussi dépaysant (je n'ai voyagé qu'en Europe) !

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.

Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
