C'est drôle je suis à peu de choses près dans la même situation que toi! Pour dresser une esquisse de ce que pourrait avoir l'air ton voyage, tu peux aller, comme j'ai fait, a la bibliothèque Gabrielle-Roy : il y a beaucoup beaucoup de livres avec photos et textes sur l'europe. C'a peu aider comme point de départ... Moi j'ai commencé comme ça en notant dans un petit carnet tous les endroits qui m''interessent... La liste est longue!

Je te conseille aussi la Grèce, pays merveilleux, les iles, la mer d'un bleu turquoise, les paysages a couper le souffle, les gens acceuillants, la bouffe, crois moi c'est différent des autres pays d'Europe.
la Température est super de avril a octobre, le temps idéal pour y aller est de mai a juin et septembre, car il y a moins de touriste et c'est moins chers.
En faite tout les pays d'europe sont a voir ils sont tous spécials mais moi j'aime particulièrement la Grèce, j'y suis aller 3 fois et j'y retournerai encore.
C'est un beau projet que tu as, j'ai fait la même chose il y a 25 ans, je suis rester en Europe 6 mois en sac a dos et sur le pouce et je peux te dire que ça te change et ça te marque pour la vie.

tout d'abord je voudrais dire que ce qui me marque un peu en venant sur ce forum c'est qu'on a l'impression que les québecois, voient l'europe comme un seul et même pays....Or entre le nord et le sud ils n'y a pas beucoup de point communs...
Moi mes 2 pays européens favoris sont la grande bretagne et la grèce: deux pays qui n'ont pas grand choses en communs mais qui sont à visiter absolument

j'avais 5 ans quand j'ai visité la normandie et les plages du débarquement, et ça reste un souvenir inoubliable...
à 6 ans j'ai vu la bretagne et le mont saint michel, bien aussi mais ça ne m'a pas autant marqué que la normandie
à 7 ans: départ pour le languedoc roussillon, dans le sud de la france, ce qui m'a marqué, c'est le sable brullant des plages malheureusement trop bondées...et le folklore local dans les arênes avec les vachettes et aussi une tradition à sète, une sorte de jeu dont j'ai oublié le nom: deux equipes chacune dans un bateau le but du jeu est de faire tomber une personne qui est à l'avant du bateau inverse et ils utilisent un grand baton
à 9 ans: premier voyage à londres, j'ai adoré, ce sera le premier d'une très longue série, je decouvre piccadily et son animation perpetuelle, la tour de londres et son histoire, trafalgar square: ses lions, sa collone et ses pigeons, je découvre aussi de très beau parcs (de grandes "bulles vertes" au milieu de la ville), je découvre l'égypte grace au british muséum et la peinture grace à la national gallery
à 10 ans: découverte de la principauté d'andorre, un tout petit etat situé entre la france et l'espagne mais qui est plus "hispanique" que français, très beau paysages (on est dans les pyrénées) très belles montagnes avec des torrents, capitale très animée, et très bonnes paella....De belle petites eglises....
et la même année: decouverte de bordeaux et sa région sans oublier saint emillon....cette année là j'ai passé quelque jours à angers, une jolie ville dans la loire, très beau chateau, pas mal de moulins aussi (et ça peu de gens le savent) mais c'est pas le plus bel endroit de la loire
en effet à 11 ans je découvre blois, et je visite encore de très nombreux chateaux: celui de blois mais aussi chambord, chenonceau, ambroise....Et aussi le chateau qui a inspiré hergé l'auteur de tintin pour dessiner moulinsart: une tellement belle region qu'on y reviendra l'année suivante
cette année: découverte du pays basque et les landes: les bergers sur les echasses, le foi gras, les asperges, visite de bayonne, biaritz, dax les bain (une ville thermale)
et avec l'ecole: classe de neige dans les alpes: j'ai decouvert le ski, des paysages magnifiques j'ai vu le mont blanc (de loin) mais aussi le mont rose (moins connu que le blanc mais très beau), j'ai aussi vu le lac d'annecy
à 14 ans je decouvre paris, belle ville mais je ne comprendrais jamais pourquoi les nords americains font tant de tapage à ce sujet, c'est une très belle ville mais c'est pas le plus bel endroit du monde!
j'ai beaucoup aimé: notre dame de paris, le parc monceau, le quartier de montmartre (à chaque fois que je retourne à paris je loge dans ce quartier), j'ai traversé le jardin des tuileries, grimpé les champs elysées, et montés au dessus de l'arc de triomphe....
dans les années qui suivront je retournerai souvent à paris, surtout avec l'ecole, j'irai 2 fois à versailles (c'est magique), je visiterai le louvres....
à 16 ans je pars pour la première fois dans une hostfamily à londres, je retournerai 6 fois dans cette famille ce qui me permettra de mieux comprendre l'esprit british et d'encore mieux découvrir la capitale britanique: j'ai visité hampton court le chateau d'henri 8 (dans le même genre que versaille en plus mignon), decouvert les fish end chips et les scones;;;;
Avec l'ecole je suis allée dans la région de canterbury et de douvres: très belle cathédrale à canterbery et très beau chateau à douvres mais j'ai jamais senti un vent si froid
toujours avec l'ecole je suis allée à amsterdam, une ville adorable on devine à peine qu'on est dans une capitale, j'ai adoré l'architecture de cette ville, la promenade sur les canaux et j'ai ete très touchée par la visite de la maison d'anne frank
à 17 ans: je découvre la grèce plus specialement corfou, paysage magnifique, très beaux petits monastères un très beau palais qui appartenait à sissi et qui est dedié à achille est à voir absolument....mais bon ce qui m'a surtout marqué, c'est que c'est très peu moderne, je me suis dis "c'est dingue qui soient dans l'union europeenne"
à 18: la crête: un peu deçue, trop touristique, à la rigueur le sud de l'ile est bien, j'ai traversé la gorge de samaria, la plus grande d'europe alors que je suis pas du tout sportive
à 19: visite de la tchéquie avec l'ecole, génial, j'ai ete super impressionnée: pragues est géniale mais le reste du pays est encore mieux, pour moi qui est fan de l'art baroque, j'ai ete servie
la même année: decouverte de l'andalousie: j'ai pas du tout aimé....
à 20: decouverte de rhodes en grèce: c'est le plus bel endroit du monde, la vielle ville de la capitale est ravisante, et la nature de l'ile, j'y suis retournée l'année suivante! et puis la nourriture grec c'est bon!
et surtout il faut pas oublier istanbul: la seule ville qui est sur 2 continents, j'ai adoré les palais, les mosquées, le grand bazar, la citerne basilique...
Moi, je suis attiré par les îles.J'ai adoré Madère !Portugal) pour sa végétation et ses paysages, sa beauté
Les îles grecques; Santorin reste un souvenir unique. Rhodes m'a impressionné.
L'Angleterre fut mon premier voyage, c'est là que j'ai pris goût aux voyages. Ce n'est pas loin et si différent.
Loin des îles; Stockholm, Vienne, Berne, Bruges

Je suis allé 2 fois en Europe, dans les 3 dernières années.
La 1ère fois, j'ai visité Paris, c'est une ville incroyable.
La 2e fois, on a loué une voiture. On a visité les endroits plus brièvement, on avait que 2 semaines. On a fait beaucoup de route.
Arrivée à Paris, ensuite on est allé à Tours, dans la Loire. On a malheureusement visité qu'un seul château, Villandry, mais c'était très bien quand même.
On est aussi allé à St-Malo, en Bretagne. Superbe endroit aussi, ça vaut le détour. Le Mont St-Michel était malheureusement peuplé de touristes à l'extrême, on avait peine à avancer plus d'un pas à la minute. J'exagère à peine. (C'était en août, donc..)
On a vu Bruxelles et Bruges, en Belgique. 2 très belles villes aussi. On est ensuite descendu en Alsace. On est resté plus longtemps là-bas. C'est vraiment un endroit qui vaut la peine d'être vu. Peut-être un peu moins visité par les québécois que le sud de la France, par exemple, mais j'ai vraiment adoré. Toutes ces ruines de châteaux dans les Vosges.. La route des vins et les villages par lesquelles elle passe.
On a fait une brève escale en Allemagne, notre hôtel était à Strasbourg, donc juste à côté.
Je veux absolument retourner en Europe, mais cette fois on va se poser à un endroit, une région précise pendant 2 semaines environ, pour éviter de perdre du temps en route, et voir la région plus à fond. Je ne sais pas trop encore quel pays, ou quelle région. Notre budget est limité quand même.
Mais tout m'intéresse...ça reste à voir.

J'aime beaucoup l'Europe, ce qui ma surpris le plus, ce sont les diferences.Je m'explique:Non seulement les pays sont tous tres different les uns des autres mais en plus les regions a l'interieur meme de c'est pays sont diferentes.Les gens sont tres "regional", independant.On voyage 100 km dans le meme pays l'art, la nouriture, la politique et meme la langue parfois ne sont plus pareil.
Si je peut me permettre des petits conseils, ne fait pas l'ERREUR de vesiter seulement les grandes villes, va voir la campagne, prend ton temps et dabord et avant tout amuse toi!
Personnelement j'aime bien l'Ecosse, les villes sont vibrante, les gens aimable, l'histoire y est fantastique et mythique et bien sur il y a les highland, paradis pour les marcheurs et les photographes.point negatif :c'est chere.Mais avec un peu de planification on peu survivre, ca fait un ans que j'y suis.
Donc bonne chance dans tes voyages et amuse toi bien
Je reviens D'ANDALOUSIE d'un circuit de 7 jours et je dois avouer plutôt déçut, Sale, Bord de mer bétonné à outrance, grue de chantier partout, décharge sauvage, sac et boutielle plastique partout sur le bord des routes. Les prix plus chers quand France, sauf l'essence franchement rapport qualité prix il vaut mieux resté en France ou aller en Turquie

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.

I’ve found some great deals on flights to two destinations: Menorca in the Balearic Islands and Alghero in Sardinia.
The flights would take us from Bordeaux to Menorca on the evening of 9/07 and return to Bordeaux in the evening on 13/07.
Or to Alghero very early on 10/07 (departure at 6 AM) and return in the mid-afternoon on 13/07.
We love beautiful landscapes, the sea, snorkeling, walks (hiking), and the charm of villages.
We want to spend some quality time as a couple without our kids and mix discovery with relaxation.
I can’t make up my mind. The transport costs are roughly the same when you factor in parking for Sardinia since the early departure means no public transport from home.
We’ve never been to Menorca, Sardinia, or Italy at all. I’ve been to Majorca, though.
Menorca would be 4 nights and 4 days, while Alghero would be 3 nights and 2.5 days.
Also, what itinerary would you recommend for Alghero and Menorca?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Summer 2027 is going to be Norwegian for us!
We’re heading to the Lofoten Islands first, then Senja, near Tromsø, and finally the North Cape.
We’ll likely start from northern Finland (flight tickets and car rentals are more affordable there).
I’d like to book accommodations early to have more options.
Good value-for-money places go fast in these pricey Nordic destinations...
But where should we book?
We’re planning to stay around ten nights in the Lofoten Islands.
What’s the best approach?
One place in the central part and explore from there?
One place in the south and another in the center?
Or one in the south, one in the center, and one in the north (3-4-3 nights)?

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
We’re a group of 4 heading out at the end of June for 11 days.
