I’m planning a trip to Norway in June 2025 and I’d like to know how to handle tolls with a contract like I read about

In 2020, we set off early in the morning, and on the ferries, we were told we’d receive the bills at home—but no such luck! (I think we’re blacklisted 😅) It was much later that we found out we should’ve registered on the Epass24 website, I think.

hi there this summer we spent two months in Norway in a camper van. it was our third trip, and this year we used the toll company "Tolltickets"—the website is super easy to use, with a "Scandinavian tele-tag" plan. we paid 200 € for road tolls and ferries over the two months. have a great trip in 2025! all the toll lists are online, quickly visible on your account, and automatically debited each month—so convenient. and the customer service is really easy to reach too.

Hi, In 2022 we registered on the Epass site. The bill arrived about a year later..

hi

thanks a lot, I guess you can find toll tickets online The problem is that I also bought the 24-hour pass—I wouldn’t want to be charged twice

All you need is to be registered with a system. If you have epass24, you're all set!

hi there and thanks for the info

I heard that to pay less, you can sign some kind of contract that gives discounts on ferries and roads—do you know about that? CHEERS
SI Sissi57 Globetrotter ·
No, that doesn't ring a bell. Also, I didn't find the prices for tolls and ferries to be catastrophic (we have a 5.99m van, same rate as cars. Starting at 6m, the rates go up).

Hi there, Just so you know, if you rent a car, it's the rental company that will send you the invoices after your return (parking, ferries, and tolls).

Hi there, we traveled in Norway for two months this summer. To get discounts on ferries, you need to register with one of the Norwegian organizations that handle road tolls. For road tolls, we used Flyt (https://flytpass.no/en). Plan ahead for registration (~2 months to receive the transponder). 10% discount on the rate. Once registered, you must sign up on https://autopassferje.no/en/about-autopass-for-ferry/ (everything is pretty well explained on this site). Registration gives you at least a 10% discount and up to 50% if you deposit a lump sum before departure (minimum 2000 NOK from what I recall, about 180 €). Your crossings will be deducted from this amount as you go. You can get a refund of the remaining balance at the end of your trip. Everything worked perfectly for us. As mentioned elsewhere, the prices aren’t as high as you might read. In our case, with a camper van under 6m, we took 18 ferries for about 110 € (with the 50% discount). For 6 to 8m vehicles, the price more than doubles! You can find schedules and fares on this site: https://www.fergeruter.info/en

Hi there A huge thank you for all your super detailed explanations! Since I’ve got a 7.45 m motorhome, I think I’ll end up paying a lot more, but oh well....

Hi there, we took a motorhome trip in May and June 2024, including 7 weeks in Norway. We used the Epass 24 service for all tolls in Norway. This company collects all tolls from your license plate and invoices you for them in one go the following month. It works for road tolls and ferry crossings. Everything went really smoothly during our trip and for the billing, which is done by direct debit. Parking isn’t managed by Epass 24. It was a wonderful trip. If you’d like more info, I’m happy to help!

Looks like Epass was quicker for you than for us. Our trip was in 2022, and the bill came almost a year later

we drove across Norway from the North Cape to Bergen and then Oslo in a 7m campervan. Cost for roads and 6 ferry crossings: 150 €.

Hi,

If you rent a vehicle, you’ll receive the bill when you return and the amount will be automatically deducted. It’s super convenient, especially for taking the ferry.

Hi, so with a rental car, even for ferries, we don’t have to do anything—we just get in line, our license plate is scanned, and the rental company charges our credit card later without any action on our part?! And even if we book a crossing, we don’t pay anything? And it’s independent of the number of passengers?

Hi Laurent,

For your first question, that’s exactly right. I rented at Oslo Airport, and there were two of us. I think the rental price depends on the type of vehicle.

I really don’t know if you can book in advance.

Hi there,

We traveled in September 2024 to the North Cape (3 weeks) with our camper van, taking the route through Denmark, Sweden, Finland, and Norway using the E pass system without any issues. We were charged around 30 euros on the card, including a ferry crossing in the Lofoten Islands, for 21 days. The amounts are debited about 15 days to 3 weeks after passing under the toll gates or bridges. Safe travels!

thanks to both of you. 30 €, that’s okay, it’s cheaper than in France, I was expecting more

On the other hand, the round-trip crossing of the Øresund Bridge in Denmark cost us around 130 € for an L2H2. Best regards
MO Monakeadream ·
Hi, I also subscribed to Epass and just got the OresundPay subscription to pay for the bridge at a 60% discount. They deduct audible tolls—like Epass—how can I be sure I won’t be charged twice?? Thanks for your help! Best regards
MO Monakeadream ·
Hi, did you get any special rate? Is the epass24 charged at a higher price? Thanks for your help! Best regards
