Bonjour, C' est possible mais ce n' est pas conseillé, l' endroit est réputé dangereux. La sortie du port de Manakara est difficile, l' Océan Indien se lève très vite. Il y a des endroits plus propices à la pêche.

Je sais qu' il y avait, il y a deux ans, (je ne sais plus s' il y est toujours) un bateau assez important dans les 7/8 m avec deux moteurs puissants à la sortie du port. Ce n' est pas très vieux, la paroisse, mettait à la disposition des pêcheurs deux bateaux de 6 m, qui alimentaient la SNPM ( si mes souvenirs sont bons) Donc, ce n' est pas impossible, même si c' est réputé dangereux. Sur place, vous aurez les meilleurs renseignements, au village de pêcheurs d' Ampilao.

le problème sera de trouver un bateau car je reviens de Manakara et n'ai pas vu beaucoup d'embarcation de ce type. Quant à passer la barre, cela est toujours possible, les locaux y vont avec de simples pirogues à voile ou à rames. Mais combien y a-t-il de perte?

vous comptez y faire quoi à Manakara? Et où achèterez vous votre bateau? Manakara est très sympa pour y passer 3 jours, mais y vivre pour un européen relève plus du bagne (Cayenne) que du paradis !!! j'espère que vous n'êtes pas comme ces Français venus se perdre là bas et qui finissent en déchet !!! il faut avoir un passé peu fréquentable pour s'y installer. c'est mon point de vue qui n'engage que moi (je suis politiquement incorrect !!!). A savoir tout de même: le train qui y mène ne roule plus beaucoup (2 fois par semaine et pour combien de temps encore ?) Sans cela, il n'y aura bientôt plus de touristes hors locaux car pour l'instant, l'intérêt d'y aller , c'est de prendre le train pour venir de fianar et remonter par Ranomafana. La côte ne permet pas de s'y baigner en toute sécurité. il sera peut-être intéressant d'y aller lorsqu'une route reliera convenablement Manakara à fort Dauphin: hélas, cela ne semble qu'un voeu pieux.

vous savezje suis nee a diego que je connais bien entendu je vais acheter un hotel restaurant a manakara et j ai bien evidemment la luciditee que c est pas a manakara que je vais m enrichir mais de toute facon ce n est absolument pas le but le bateau je l acheterai la ou il en vende et croyez moi je suis tres frequentable du moins je l espere je vient m installer avec mon epouse et je quitte la france ou j ai absolument tout mon confort je vais a manakara pour changer de vie et essayer d apporte une pierre a l edifice je crois en ce pays et je suis pret a faire des sacrifices pour pouvoir faire quelque choses mais rassurez vous je suis tres conscient de ce qui m attend mais encore une fois je ne connais absolument pas cette region

Manakara est une petite ville calme du sud est de Madagascar. Comme ailleurs sur la Grande Ile, il vaut mieux avoir une occupation. Comme tout le Pays, cette ville souffre actuellement du manque de touristes. S i vous avez des questions j' essayerai d' y répondre.

Tu a vécu à Manakara mais tu en es parti !!! Durant mon court passage, j' ai croisé quelques vazahas qui semblaient bien à la dérive si ils n'étaient pas réellement des déchets (j'en conviens le terme est un peu fort!!) mais ils ne montraient pas une réussite sociale très affirmée . La bière, l'alcool et les petites pépées me semblaient être leur principale préoccupation. Je ne sais depuis combien de temps tu es passé à Manakara . il y a eu une période heureuse dans cette ville mais aujourd'hui, elle est en complète déliquescence. Cela ressemble à Cuba, le régime politique en moins. (A voir, il y aurait certains rapprochements). La population semble désabusée et accepter l'abandon par le pouvoir central. J'étais passé en 91 et depuis, la situation me semble être très nettement détériorée. Réseau routier indigent, plus de ponts détruits que construits. Aucun chantier d'envergure. Mais le peuple malgache a de la chance, il va recevoir notre Président pour le sommet de la Francophonie (et le mondial de Pétanque). Que va-t-il promettre?
NON je n ai pas vecu a manakara je ne suis jamais aller dans cette region en ce qui concerne ces expatriers bien sur l alcool et tout ce qui va avec font de ces personnes des moins que riens mais c est partout pareil dans le monde c est a cause de ces abuts en tout genre que la reputation dans un pays pauvre comme mada crees des polemiques inutiles je te rassure moi j y vais pas pour ca je suis nee a mada j aime ce pays et il est grand temps pour moi d essayer a mon petit niveau de faire quelques choses mes enfants sont grand et ont ne vit qu une seule fois
Je l' ai dit plusieurs fois, le voyageur qui va à Madagascar, quelle que soit la ville, ne voit que ce qui est le plus apparent, c' est à dire les vazaha qui traînent dans les bars et sur les terrasses.
Il y en a bien d' autres qu' on ne voit pas sauf de temps en temps au marché le matin. Il ne faut pas généraliser.
Depuis que je connais ce Pays, plus de 30 ans, il est sur la descente, et ce n' est pas la population de Manakara qui est délaissée par le pouvoir, c' est le Peuple malgache au grand complet.
A une époque je croyais au redressement, je n' y crois plus.

On dit toujours que le Pays est au plus bas, mais la descente se poursuit inexorablement. Pour qu' il y ait un renouveau, il faudrait une évolution des mentalités et ça ce n' est pas gagné d' avance. Je vous souhaite néanmoins une excellente installation.

ok...bonne installation dans cette vlle...je ne comprendrai jamais de telle décisions qui engagent tant l'avenir !!...sans vraiment connaitre l'endroit !!
Cette ville glauque est peut être à l'image des vazaha qu'on y trouve...mer déchainée...baignade dans un trou dit du commissaire fort éloigné... un pont qui relie la ville côtière à l'image du pays...l'absurdité humaine illustrée...le train...entretenu avec des bouts de spatadrap un jour sera dns le même état...et bizarement il y a qelques bons hôtels...donc un conseil...évaluez bien la concurrence !! et puis un peu plus au Sud il y a des petites villes bien plus sympa...

je vous donerai mon avis personel apres mon retour de manakara je compte faire tout de meme quelques chose d assez sympathique avec un minimum de confort de toute facon mon avenir sera a mada peut etre a manakar mais de toute facon dans un village en brousse tres loin de ce que je connais et vu sur les endroit tres touristiques qui ne me convienne pas du tout je veux un retour au vraies valeurs le reste pour moi est tres secondaire et superficiel
donc retour aux sources...et sur les vraies valeurs si j'ai bien compris mais avec les pieds sur terre !
à mon humble avis les facteurs à ne jamais oublier surtout dans un pays où rien n'est facile...accessibllité..pensez aux visiteurs et futurs clients et surtout professionalisme...les gentils touristes qui braveront l'insécurité et la dureté du transport en voudront toujour pour leur argent...merci pour vos future vaovao !!

Ce sont des ethnies très différentes, même si il n' y a que 160 kilomètres par la route et bien moins à vol d' oiseau. A Madagascar, discret ou pas le résident étranger, sous surveillance policière, est connu de tous et épié, donc je ne vois pas ce que ça change. Le problème d' instabilité du personnel est le même à Manakara que dans toutes les villes côtières. Les jeunes femmes cherchent principalement à travailler dans les hôtels restaurants où elles ont le plus de chances de rencontrer un vazaha.

VOUS savez je vivrai comme d habitude sans chichi en ce qui me concerne il suffit de frequenter les bonnes personnes a mada comme ailleurs et pour les salaries c est exactement la meme chose il y a des mauvais salaries et aussi de tres mauvais patron et je pense que c est le cas a mada beaucoup profite de cette misere pour exploiter au maximun ces pauvres qui non pas d autres choix

Oui c'est possible mais cette possibilité dépendra de vos expériences dans la navigation maritime (niveau débutant, niveau moyen, niveau expert). Mais pourquoi spécialement à Manakara? Il ne fait pas beau temps là-bas! A Morondava ou à Nosy Bé, c'est mieux.

JE suis plutot un navigateur confirme mais je prendrai de toute facon avec moi un pecheur de la region car la mer quant ont ne connais pas sait etre tres dangereuse pourquoi manakara tout simplement que je suis en instance d acheter un hotel restaurant dans cette region et comme j y vais en decembre si cette region me convient pourquoi pas

pour rester hors sujet...enfin presque...les Antaimoro de Manakara ne sont plus aussi d'origine arabe ??allons restons un peu sérieux...attention sur des faux prétextes ayant pour support les origines ethniques.là on tombe dans la caricature !
votre comparaison sur ces deux villes proches est parfaitement pertinente.
La dina...phénomène de société...largement occulté..concerne tout le pays ! Majunga ville la plus secure du pays...à lire certains ici...mille personnes y ont attaqué une brigade et lapidé le prévenu qui y était...accusé de rixe...cela il y a peu.
Chacun peut être pris dans un tel cauchemar...mais n'effarouchons pas les futur touristes !

Quel type de pèche a Manakara? traine, leurres ect.. les poissons migrateurs comme le varire ou tassergal et les merlans sorte de grosse courbine sont dans la région vers juin et octobre pour fort dauphin je pèche pas mal sur Mananjary quand je suis la bas en surf casting y a de très beaux spots a découvrir encore !!! Pour la vie si ont respect les gens y a pas de soucis comme partout a bientôt

I’d describe myself as a "former diver." I’ve done around 450 dives in natural environments across different settings. I put diving on hold about 5 years ago due to work/schedule constraints and, let’s say, family reasons. Since then, I’ve still tried to stay in shape with hiking trips, running, swimming, and freediving in protected environments, etc... I’m planning to get back into the bubbles somewhere this year. Any destinations you’d recommend—or avoid—for getting back into it? I’m looking for a spot for April/May this year.
Any tips or ideas?

Our Bali-Lombok trip is taking shape, but we’d love to wrap up the stay with at least a solid week of snorkeling somewhere the coral is still in great condition. In your opinion, are the Gili Secrets in southern Lombok better than Flores Island, where there are supposedly amazing underwater landscapes?
We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!

For flight schedules and prices from Bordeaux, and ease of reaching Alexandria by bus/train afterward, I’m considering spending 4 days around Hurghada (direct flight from Bdx).
I don’t think I’ll go for courses to get my Level 1, since I don’t plan to dive often in the future—unless you think it’s better than doing 2 discovery dives in this area (I only have one baptism under my belt, in Koh Tao 15 years ago—amazing! I don’t think I’ll go for courses to get my Level 1, since I don’t plan to dive often in the future—unless you think it’s better than doing 2 discovery dives in this area (I only have one baptism under my belt, in Koh Tao 15 years ago—amazing! I’m traveling with a buddy, and we don’t really want to spend all our time moving around, so if you have recommendations for one area that’s better than others for diving, that’d be great!
What do you think are the best diving sites? (I’d appreciate an overview of the country so I can decide based on that.)
Compared to my buddy, I love macro photography (nudibranchs, etc.), so I’d also love any tips on that.
And completely unrelated to diving, but I’d also like info on places to visit (national parks, reserves, etc.) to see the local wildlife.

I’m heading to Malaysia from mid-May to mid-August 2025 for nearly 3 months.
With my advanced certification in hand for a few years now, I’m on the lookout for the best dive spots in Malaysia.
I’ve obviously heard about the Perhentians and Sipadan.
Someone mentioned Tioman too, but not necessarily for diving.
Do you have any feedback on these places for diving? (visibility, marine life diversity, etc.)
Any idea about the rates for fun dives?
Dive centers you’d recommend?

This is the excursion we shouldn’t have done in Mauritius.
We did it with The Friendly Dodo, but from what I saw, it’s the same with most agencies.
Departure at 6 a.m. (even though the sun rises at 7 a.m. in August). Why? Because there’s only one well-known spot where the dolphins are, and all the agencies race to get there first. For 45 to 60 minutes, it’s just straight-line navigation to the spot. No one’s looking for dolphins—we’re just speeding there in silence, full throttle. Once we arrive, there are already 5-6 boats. The dolphins are there, sure. The boats fight for the best position, cutting off the dolphins’ path, and then—go, go, go—everyone jumps in. Not a single instruction is given on how to approach the dolphins respectfully. Result: everyone jumps in at the same time from 3 boats, creating a huge splash, and rushes toward the dolphins. Outcome: faced with this chaos, the dolphins dive, and you can’t see them from the boat anymore. The swimmers who are right in their path might see them pass below for a few seconds at best. Everyone climbs back onto the boats, and as soon as the dolphins resurface, the same cycle starts all over again. After 5 or 6 jumps like this (3 of which I didn’t even see the dolphins), it’s back to the port the same way we came. Not a single explanation is given during the entire excursion about the dolphins themselves or how to approach them. Safety-wise, I didn’t feel comfortable either with all the boats fighting for position. I bumped into another boat (no pain) while swimming, and I wasn’t reassured about the propellers. With all this circus, my daughters didn’t even want to get in the water. The problem is, when you stay on the boat, you don’t get much out of it either—because as soon as the dolphins resurface, everyone jumps in haphazardly and scares them off again. Having done the same kind of outing in Réunion, I can confirm it’s nothing like this (much better organized and ultimately much more rewarding in Réunion).
Under these conditions, this is an activity we never should’ve done! !

I’ve been in Malaysia for a month now and still have two more to go. I started traveling with friends, but I’ll be solo for the next month and a half.
We did a pretty classic route: Perhentians, Cameron Highlands (which I found pointless), Tioman, and Kinabatangan in Borneo. Now I’m thinking of heading to Redang Island—Langkawi is also an option, but it doesn’t appeal to me as much. Any feedback on these two spots?

Any thoughts on the diving there?
So far, I haven’t had much luck with diving—at the Perhentians, it was pretty disastrous with water at 31°C 😵😫
I’d love to find a nice island where I can meet people (locals and travelers) because going from a group of six to solo at the end is going to feel weird.

notre voyage en Indonésie étant annulé, et notre agence nous déconseillant l'Egypte, nous sommes à la recherche d'un lieu où nous pourrons faire du snorkeling depuis la plage (et en excursion bateau). Je connais un peu Zanzibar pour y être allé il y a plus de 10 ans, ainsi que Pemba (mais les prix ont explosé), et je me tourne aussi vers Mafia. Est ce propice au snorkeling , des resorts ont ils des house reef où l'on peut voir des choses intéressantes (je ne m'attends pas non plus au niveau de la Sulawesi ou des Raja). Merci d'avance pour toute info.

Je pose ma question malgré la situation incertaine actuellement, mais évidemment mon plan de voyage est conditionnel à l'évolution de la pandémie, donc merci de vous abstenir ceux qui me diraient juste de rester chez moi ;)
Donc, je planifie de passer l'hiver au sud de l'Europe, et ou vers les Balkans et j'aimerais savoir si c'est partout de la plongée en eau froide donc avec le drysuit et tout ou s'il y a des endroits qui sont superbes et ou je peux plonger avec un suit plus épais seulement même exemple en février et mars. J'ai lu pas mal ici sur le portugal et malte https://divezone.net/diving/portugal mais j'aimerais l'opinion récente de plongeurs du coin! :)
Ce que j'aime en plongée c'est l'eau claire, les fonds marins attrayants, la vie aquatique particulière, etc. Je ne suis pas une fan d'épaves, mais je considérerai tout les sites / pays proposés :)
