Hi there! Right now, we're in the southeast part, Isan, staying with a French guy. We don’t cook much—at most, a restaurant meal for 5 people costs us 1000 baht, with 3 big tsinga and, of course, a full stomach.

Hi there,

It depends on the type of restaurant: if it's a simple place, even ordering 2 dishes each plus 3 large Singhas, 1,000 Baht for 5 people is a lot. If it's the kind of restaurant where Thais celebrate an event or go out for a good time (where one of the waitresses stays near your table to make sure glasses are never empty), where all the dishes are served at once in the middle of the table for everyone to help themselves, or a touristy spot or guesthouse restaurant, then yes, it can add up to those prices depending on what you order. But normally, that’s not the kind of place you’d go to for every meal.

By the way, what did you end up doing with your puffer jacket?
