J'en ai discuté l'autre jour avec ma mutuelle (attention, valide seulement pour la France), et je n'ai pas obtenu de réponse vraiment précise. Je vous conseille donc de poser la question à la Sécu (ce que je vais faire avant le prochain voyage) et à votre mutuelle. Il semble que des soins de base en urgence seraient en grande partie couverts par la Sécu et une mutuelle ...
D'autre part, les cartes de crédit gold servent surtout de garantie et pour un rapatriement éventuel.
Si vous devez voir un médecin au Japon, demandez une facture en anglais. Beaucoup sont capable d'en sortir. Si ce n'est pas possible, gardez la facture en japonais.
Une fois de retour en France, si vous avez des factures en anglais, vous pouvez les envoyer directement à la sécu, si c'est en japonais, il faudra les traduire (joindre l'original et la traduction).
Bien qu'ils aient soit disant un service de traduction, le japonais ne marche pas (j'ai eu un retour de facture).
Ensuite, selon les soins, cela sera pris en compte ou non. Si vous avez une ordonnance française pour des soins un peu particuliers ou réguliers (genre kiné), joignez la avec, sinon ils risquent de penser que ce c'était une consultation de "plaisir" et de ne pas vous rembourser.
Niveau délai c'est un peu plus lent que le traitement normal, mais une fois passé dans le circuit de la sécu, le remboursement mutuelle suit sans pb, comme d'hab.

Je ne comprends pas trop cette dernière phrase. J'ai été voir ce qui est couvert par l'assistance visa premier et il y a une partie sur les frais medicaux "Avance et prise en charge des frais médicaux à l’étranger jusqu’à 155 000 euros (franchise de 50 euros)."
Hormis la limite de 155000euros, je ne comprends pas trop pourquoi ceci ne suffirait pas pour se couvrir si on est malade sur place car pour moi prise en charge signifie qu'on a pas besoin de rembourser l'avance. C'est une vraie question, j'ai l'impression que ça suffit mais en lisant certains posts sur ce sujet, ça me donne l'impression du contraire :-/ du coup je ne sais plus vraiment ce qu'il en est. Pour bénéficier des services d’assistance, je dois être titulaire d’une carte Visa Premier en cours de validité et contacter Premier Assistance avant d’engager toute dépense (numéro de téléphone au dos de ma carte).
Pour avoir également été confronté à ce problème (à force d'y aller, il fallait bien que cela arrive...), je confirme tout à fait l'expérience de Moshi.
Ma fille a été hospitalisée suite à une affection bénigne alors qu'elle était pour quelques mois chez sa grand-mère à Kyoto... (plusieurs fois car je crois que l'expérience l'amusait!) alors que nous étions en France.
Ma belle mère a avancé les frais médicaux... que nous lui avons remboursés à notre arrivée. Elle a gardé tous les documents (en japonais, bien sur) que nous avons ramenés en France.
Mon épouse (japonaise, ça aide) a traduit succinctement les documents, s'attachant surtout à donner le contexte et la signification des actes, et nous avons transmis le dossier à la sécu avec l'imprimé spécial concernant le remboursement de frais payés à l'étranger.
Tout a été remboursé à 100%, après complément de la mutuelle.
Pour ce qui est de l'assistance par les cartes visa premier et gold mastercard (que j'ai toutes les deux), je n'ai jamais eu l'occasion de m'en servir... et j'espère que cela va durer.

Nous avons également eu des consultations et analyses medicals au japon. et quand nous sommes revenus, nous avons envoyé tous les justificatives avec les traductions. Mais, nous avons eu la réponse de secu qui demande la document ci-dessous.

We're about to go on an organized trip to South Africa, including Kruger Park. We were told that Malarone should preferably be taken in the evening at the same time during a meal. But it's hard to know what time we'll have dinner, especially since I've read that in South Africa, dinner is usually around 6 PM.
I'd love to hear from people who've been on organized trips to this destination and could share their experience. We were thinking of taking Malarone around 7:30 PM, assuming dinner would be closer to 7 PM than 6 PM. Also, if the meal ends up being earlier or later than when we take the pill, would a cookie or a piece of bread be enough to take with Malarone?
I’m planning to set off on a "round-the-world" trip/long journey at the start of next year, lasting between 4.5 and 6 months. For now, the itinerary looks like this: South Korea (2 weeks) -> Japan (1 month) -> New Zealand (1 month) -> Argentina (1 month) -> United States (1 month).
I’m on medication (paroxetine 20 mg/day) and was hoping to bring enough for the entire trip so I wouldn’t have to find a doctor on the spot, deal with a molecule that might be slightly different from what’s available in France, or wonder if that’s even a possibility. Basically, it seemed simpler on paper...
But after looking into the regulations for each country, it’s suddenly way less simple . Many seem to only allow the amount corresponding to the length of your "stay" in the country... Which is a problem if I arrive in Korea with 4.5 months’ worth of medication, for example.
After all that, and even though I’ll obviously contact the relevant authorities in each country (fingers crossed for a response 😛), here’s my question:

I have several chronic conditions (including asthma and related ones), and I’m planning to travel for a year across different countries.
Generally, I understand it’s possible to travel with approved medications (which should be my case), but often with a limit of 3 months’ worth of treatment.
Since I’m going for 12 months, that means for three-quarters of my trip, I’d have more than 3 months’ worth of medication.
I plan to bring my prescriptions with the INN (International Nonproprietary Name), as well as the original packaging (even though it’s a nightmare, but from what I understand, it’s necessary). But I’m not sure if that’s enough...
