Je me permets de vous contacter car nous partons en couple en Colombie du 27 juillet au 16 août, soit 20 jours.
Nous parlons bien l'anglais mais je me débrouille pas mal en espagnol notamment pour les questions essentielles et pour communiquer. Je me suis remise un peu à revoir la langue ;-)
Nous comptons acheter notre billet et partir avec notre sac à dos qui sera une première. Nous avons déjà voyagés dans d'autres pays comme le Cap Vert mais pas en sac à dos même si là-bas nous sommes complètement sortis des infrastructures touristiques pour aller à la rencontre des cap verdiens.
Evidemment après avoir parcourus beaucoup de sites et forum, on se dit qu'il y a tellement de choses à voir, qu'il est difficile de faire des choix !
Ce qu'il nous est difficile de projeter, c'est le temps entre les différents points que nous aimerions voir, les transports à utiliser et le coût moyen. Nous avons un budget de 800€ par personne sur place (hors avion international).
Nous ne désirons pas spécialement loger en hôtel mais plutôt chez l'habitant ou en auberge.

Bon, je me doute que c'est énorme et qu'il ne sera peut être pas possible de tout faire mais votre aide nous est précieuse ! Concernant les villes, nous ne sommes pas spécialement intéressés à les visiter mise à part Bogota (1 ou 2 jours) car c'est là que nous arrivons et repartons
J'ai ensuite diverses questions :
1. Est-il possible de rencontrer ou de trouver des guides sur places ? Avez-vous des contacts?
2. Y a-t-il des personnes de ce forum qui vivent en Colombie et qui aimerait nous aider à découvrir une partie de leur pays et pourquoi pas nous loger?
3. Point de vue sécurité : je me doute qu'il y a les règles de sécurités à avoir (j'ai bien parcouru le forum) mais peut on voyager tranquillement en sacs à dos, à travers les villages sans risque (car c'est la 1ere fois en sac à dos)?
4. Normalement, nous devions voir un de nos amis qui vit au Costa Rica mais après lecture des sites, on se rend compte qu'à part l'avion, il est impossible d'y aller?
5. Pour les logements, est-ce préférable de réserver à l'avance ou de faire au feeling sur place (en ayant des adresses sous la main) ?
6. Pour les bus ou autres transports en communs, quelle agence nous conseillez vous? Peut-on réserver à l'avance des billets?
Je pense que d'autres questions arriveront peut être par la suite et toute les infos sont les bienvenues.

J'ai oublié une autre question essentielle pour nous : Ou peut-on faire des activites comme la plongée, observation baleines et dauphins, ... ? Avez vous des plans?
20 jours et budget moyen. Il faut faire des choix.
Côte caraïbe:
Cartagena: 2 J entiers et 2 N (assez cher).
Tayrona: 2J et 2 N.
Sta Marta et Taganga (plongée possible): 2 J et deux N.
Avion: Bog- Cartagena/ Sta Marta- Bog: gain de temps.
San Agustin: 3 J et 3 N. Bon marché. Bus.
Cocuy: Magnifique mais fatigant (altitude), assez difficile d'accès.
Providencia: Assez double emploi avec Tayrona. Cher.
Caño cristales: 3 J. Unique. Mais je ne me rappelle pas si août est le meilleur moment pour les plantes aquatiques. Avion obligé de Villavicecio à La Macarena.
Amazonie: Avion obligé depuis Bogota. Assez cher. 3 J
Bogota et environs (dont un paramo: Verjon, pas cher et facile d'accès, ou lagunas de Siecha, plus cher (parc national), mais plus impressionnant): 3 J.
En comptant les voyages, on est pas loin de vos 20 jours.
Hum! Votre budget est à la fois suffisant et serré. Ça dépend comment vous vivez et voyagez. Cela dit, il y a quand même des dépenses contraintes et des endroits assez chers. 1600 € à deux pour 20 jours avec l'Amazonie, la côte, Caño Cristales ... ces destinations, c'est pas le meilleur marché.
Et puis, depuis plus de 3 ans, l'euro s'est effondré et le peso s'est envolé.
Il y a 4 ans, vous auriez eu 50 % de pouvoir d'achat en plus.
Prix pour deux
Avion (je n'ai pas essayé vivacolombia).
Bogota-Cartagena / Sta Marta-Bogota: 500.000 cop au moins, plus taxi (70.000 au moins).
Bogota-Laetitia (Amazonie): 500.000 au moins, plus taxi (60.000 ?)
Villavicencio - La Macarena: Pas idée (Mon expérience est trop ancienne). Taxi (40.000 ?)
Transport collectif sur la côte: 80.000 à 100.000 en tout.
Transport Bogota-San Agustin A/R: 160.000 (40.000 l'aller simple).
Hébergement
- Cartagena: Agréable et proche de la vieille ville: 200.000 (2 N)
- Sta Marta: 60.000 (1 N)
- Taganga: 40.000 ?? (1 N) : Les prix ont peut-être beaucoup grimpé: j'ai pas idée.
- Tayrona: 100.000 à 120.000 (2 N: il paraît que le prix ont beaucoup grimpé).
- San Agustin: 120.000 (3 nuits)
- Bogota: 80.000 à 100.000 (2 N)
- Leticia: ??? (J'y suis pas allé).
- Caño Cristalles ??? ( Moi j'étais en mode hamac gratos)
- Repas: 50.000 par jour fois 20: 1 M (en dessous de 25.000 pers et jour, c'est pas gégé,
d'autant qu'à Cartagena ou Tayrona, c'est assez cher).
- Parcs Nationaux: Tayrona et San Agustin: 150.000
Là on est déjà à 3. 5 M donc pas loin de 1500 €
Plus de taxis et bus dans les villes
Plus les services du genre guide, plongée, cheval ...
On impose (illégalement un guidage) à La Macarena.
Vous pouvez éventuellement vous passer de cheval pour Los Idolos: A pied retour en bus depuis Isnos c'est possible si vous marchez bien et que vous savez vous orienter un minimum et demander votre chemin.
Le Pueblito: On essaiera de vous imposer un guide mais franchement, c'est pas utile à moins de ne pas savoir s'orienter.
Bien sûr vous pouvez vivre à l'arrache et trouver des vols, hébergements moins chers mais la Colombie n'est pas la destination la moins chère.
Certains vols sont contraints: Leticia et Caño Cristales
ou bienvenus vu les distances: Bogota- Côte Caraïbe.

Oui, j'ai entendu parler de Viva Colombia qui bouleverse assez les prix.
Tu peux avoir moins cher, au moins pour Bog-Cartagena.
Sta-Marta Cartagena, je ne sais pas, Bog-Leticia et Villavicencio-La Macarena, sûrement pas.
Attention toutefois: il y a pas que de bons échos (retards importants par exemple).
Des guides, pour où et quoi? En général oui, tu trouves des guides locaux, certains bons et corrects, d'autres moins bons et gourmands.
Par exemple un guide pour le désert de la guajira et la vallée du café.
Pour l'Amazonie j'ai trouve une agence mais je n'ai plus le nom sous la main... Je vais regarder ce soir à notre parcours et si ca ne te dérange pas, je le mettrais en message afin que tu vois si c'est réaliste :-)

Ce qui est clair, c'est que tes programmes sont plus économiques car l'Amazonie et Caño Cristales, ce n'est pas ce qu'il y a de meilleur marché.
Cela dit, selon moi, la Guajira est intéressante avec davantage de temps.
Dans votre programme, il manque une journée pour connaître un paramo.
Vous en avez un au dessus de Cocora, par exemple.
Vous pourriez faire un sommet facile comme le Paramillo del Quindio.
Par contre ça nécessite au moins d'avoir des chaussures et vêtements en conséquence.
Sinon, près de Bogota, le petit paramo de la Laguna del Verjon est facile d'accès et ne revient pas cher.
Ben justement, c'est parce que je ne savais pas trop comment aller à Caño Cristales que je ne l'ai pas inclus. Peux tu me dire près de quelle zone cela se situe (ou ville)? Pour que je puisse me répérer.
Une autre question : comment aller de Popayan à Salento? Est-ce que 3 jours à Salento n'est pas trop ? J'ai trouvé le site de Expreso Bolivario mais je ne trouve pas d'autres sociétés de bus sur le net afin d'avoir un aperçu des horaires et coûts
C'est dommage qu'on ne puisse faire la Villa Leyva... Et pour l'Amazonie, on l'a toujours en tête mais je ne pense pas que ça soit réalisable dans nos 3 semaines...
Deux jours suffisent à Salento.
Popayan-Samento: c'est long. 9 heures?
Caño Cristales: Bus Bogota-Villavicencio + Petit avion jusqu'à La Macarena.
Ensuite il s'agit de traverser le gros fleuve à côté, faire quelque kms et on accède au caño.
J'ai plus idée du temps, mais ce n'est pas très long.
Une question pour celles ou ceux qui ont récemment fait le trajet en bus San Agustin-Popayan pour mieux orienter Amandine: durée du voyage? sécurité?....... car il fut un temps où cette route n'était absolument pas conseillée...
Amandine, votre budget a 2, comme cela a déjà été écrit, est assez étroit si vous voulez faire de l'avion jusqu'à Leticia, à Caño Cristales et à San Andrés y Providencia. Lisez bien les conditions de voyage avec VIVACOLOMBIA, surtout la partie bagages (et coût éventuel)
Nous avons laissé tombé Cano Cristales et peut être l'Amazonie... par contre, tout est budgeté (j'ai fait diverses recherches) et si nous avons le temps, nous avons assez avec notre budget pour faire l'Amazonie.
Par contre, merci de ta remarque sur les bus car j'ai dû mal à trouver des infos. A part express bolivaria, n'y a-t-il pas d'autres agences de bus ?? Car j'aimerais regarder les sites afin de pouvoir organiser au mieux notre voyage.

Tu as des bus pour toutes les destinations mais il y a des quantités de compagnies: ce n'est pas un problème et c'est un coût raisonnable. Compte 4-5 € /100 kms. Mais difficile de toutes les passer en revue.

mais il est loin d'être actualisé et les prix sont parfois un tiers plus haut aujourd'hui.
Pour San Agustin, il faut compter 10 heures. Je ne sais pas ce qu'il en est de la route
mais le site du MAE a actualisé la carte de manière positive ces derniers temps.
Ensuite il faut savoir que la situation bouge parfois très vite dans un sens ou dans l'autre.
Alors après moult réflexions, voici notre itinéraire terminé (enfin presque). J'ai essayé d'organiser minimum quelques réservations dans des auberges et je vais réserver nos vols intérieurs. Je préfère tout de même planifier un peu car le temps est limité.

Je pense que notre itinéraire est cohérent et qu'on verra déjà pas mal de trucs sachant qu'on a 3 semaines et que des choix, il faut en faire même si c'est trop difficile. On essaie de rester à un endroit 2 jours min pour voir les alentours mais avoir un point de chute pour nos sacs ;-). Pour le Nord, on se fait l'ile de Baru pour profiter un peu des plages qui paraît-il sont assez belles à cet endroit !
Il y a juste 1 information que je n'arrive pas à trouver. C'est, où peut-on aller observer les baleines et dauphins dans le nord?
Avez-vous quelques adresses de restos ou de logement à nous conseiller?
Pour finir, j'aimerais savoir comment nous rendre dans le Désert de la Guajira, quels sont les endroits à ne pas râter comme Cabo de la Vela?
Je ne manquerais pas à notre retour de faire un compte rendu pour orienter les prochains voyageurs !

salut, bravo pour l itinéraire, avec ça vous allez en voir du pays....Pour ta question sur les baleines au nord, c'est du côté pacifique, moi perso je l ai fait a partir de Nuqui et ladrilleros/juanchaco. Pour les hotels resto: bon a Taganga, il y a le choix, c est un peu l affluence mais un conseil, si vous voulez vous faire une plage a l ambiance tres populaire, limite surpeuplée mais à la colombienne (cool quoi...): playa grande a 10 mn de taganga en bateau ou a pied par la corniche (30 mn)....si envie de verdure , n hésitez pas à aller a Minca, 1 heure de santa marta, franchement sympa et beau...gens adorables...racontez nous tout cela a votre retour...que disfruten !!

Oui c'est clair mais bon, ça fait 3 jours (bon allez 2 jours 3/4) dans la Guajira et pour cette partie, j'ai pris via une agence ;-) et ça rentre dans les temps.
Ce qui me stresse un peu, c'est que nous arrivons à 21h30 à Bogota et que nous devons prendre un bus à 23h30... J'espère que ça sera possible... si pas, faudra attendre le suivant mais j'ai dû mal à trouver les horaires sur toutes les sociétés de bus...

Je viens de tomber sur ces posts de l'an dernier, je pars dans un mois avec mon ami en Colombie, également pendant 3 semaines. Notre itinéraire n'est pas encore préparé, mais j'aurais aimé avoir un petit retour de ta part : comment s'est passé le voyage, et surtout avez-vous réussi à tenir votre budget de 800 euros chacun ? Avec mon conjoint, je suis en train de planifier notre voyage de 3 semaines en Equateur pour l’été 2027. Oui, on s’y prend à l’avance, on compte faire les îles Galapagos et on essaye donc d’optimiser au mieux notre budget.
Quand je fais des recherches sur internet, je tombe souvent ToutEquateur. Est-ce que quelqu’un leur a déjà fait confiance ?
J’ai vu des prix intéressants, notamment pour des séjours en Amazonie et des croisières aux Galapagos, mais je demande si ça vaut le coup de passer par eux ou si je peux obtenir de meilleurs prix en passant en direct avec les lodges ou les bateaux (sachant que je ne parle pas vraiment espagnol).

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

30/11: Exploring Bogotá: La Candelaria and Montserrate.
01/12: Gold Museum (closed on Mondays). Drive to Zipaquirá (1.5 hrs) to visit the Salt Cathedral. Then drive to Villa de Leyva (3 hrs). Explore the town. Overnight in Villa de Leyva.
02/12: Return to Bogotá via Laguna de Guatavita (5 hrs). Is it worth the detour? Overnight in Bogotá.
03/12: Flight to Pereira. Drive to Salento. Overnight in Salento.
04/12: Cocora Valley (hike among the wax palms) followed by a drive around the area. Are there any waterfalls or other sights nearby?
05/12: Visit a coffee finca—any recommendations? Then explore the surroundings: Filandia, Manizales, waterfalls? Hot springs? Which ones?
06/12: Flight to Medellín.
07/12: Exploring Medellín: Centro, Plaza Botero, Comuna 13. How do you visit Comuna 13? Is it easy to get around Medellín? Metro? Buses?
08/12: Drive to Guatapé (2 hrs). Visit the town, stroll around the lake, then El Peñol. Overnight in Guatapé.
09/12: Return to Medellín.
10/12: Flight to Santa Marta. Drive to a hotel near Tayrona Park.
11/12: Tayrona—El Zaino entrance.
12/12: Tayrona—Palangana entrance, then Bahia Concha and Santa Marta. What do you think?
13/12: Drive to Minca (45 mins). Can we reach the village by car? Pozo Azul and Marinka waterfalls. Overnight in Minca (or back in Tayrona?).

I’ve sketched out a rough itinerary but I’m not sure how to arrange it—considering the climate, year-end holidays, and Carnival.
Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina),
Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.
Is this doable in 3 months?

After lots of research and quotes, it’s the only one offering Uyuni at a reasonable price while meeting all the criteria: transfer to the border, private-room accommodation, and a very fair rate. My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.
