Bah, suggestion simple, éviter les endroits touristiques; Luzon c'est mort car tous les pinoys de Manille vont sur la côte, Boracay, Puerto Galera, Bohol...
Essaie peut-être Siquijor, Negros (Sipalay), Camiguin, Leyte, Samar, les Camotes, Romblon...
Si tu es là, et que tu ne vas pas aux abords des églises, sur le passages des cortèges ou des processions, où que tu n'ailles pas te mêler aux rassemblement, tu te la couleras douce comme nous tous !
Allongé au bord d'une piscine, ou au bord d'une plage, ou à l'ombre d'un palmier (attention aux cocotiers !!!), une SM glacée à la main, la seule personne qui risque t'em ...nuyer, c'est la pédicure qui veut travailler sur ton autre pied !!!!
Le pire, c'est avec la manucure ; car il faut aussi que tu changes la SM de main !!!!
Maintenant, si tu es en train de faire un treck sur le mont Apo, ou dans les Rizières de Banaué, ou d'aller visiter une cascade ou un lac, ils ne font pas de défilé, à ces endroits !
Moi, perso, en trois ans, je n'en ai jamais vu de ces défilés, parce que je n'ai jamais chercher à en voir !!!
8 avril, ce sera le début des vacances scolaires (dernière journée de classe le 31 mars, ici à Davao, et le 5/6 et 9 Avril qui sont fériés. )
Beaucoup, mais beaucoup de pinoys vont voyager !
Mais la conjonction des trois phénomènes (Vacance scolaire, Pâque et jour férièe) vont peut-etre faire accroitre le peuple dans les défilés et autres manifestation de piété, pour délaisser les destinations touristiques !
Des expats plus anciens que moi aux Philppines, pourront peut être mieux te renseigner sur ce sujet. Mais l'an dernier, sur l'ile de Samal, le resort où j'ai été le jour de Pâques, le Paradis Island, était très peu fréquenté !!!
Attention aux réservation de vols et certains hôtels (surtout les bons marchés ) qui risquent afficher complet !!!

Euh la semaine sainte c'est du touriste Philippin hein. La plupart ils en ont rien à f... des rizières. Le philippin pendant la semaine sainte, il est sur la côte, il picole et il chante du vidéoké, il est surement pas sur des sites classés par l'UNESCO, et ou de surcroît il fait moins de 20 degrés la nuit. Je caricature un peu mais on est pas loin de la vérité. Donc il y a fort à parier que tu seras tranquille comme jamais dans la Cordillera.
Et oui, je suis bien d'accord, c'est un moment privilégié pour entrer en contact avec les Philippins. Le problème c'est que je n'aime pas la foule, qu'il faut que je réserve les vols et hôtels et que tout est fermé à cette époque, donc la galère pour se déplacer. Pour quelqu'un qui ne prévoit jamais rien à l'avance, c'est chaud comme situation!

Il y a deux exceptions à cette règle. Le Jour de l'An, et le Vendredi Saint. Là, oui, tout est fermé ! Principalement les commerces et les Malls.
Mais les Hôtels malgré tout restent ouvert, (ils ne mettent pas les clients à la porte ce jour là) comme les hôpitaux, et que les gens se déplaisants , une partie des moyens de transports continuent de fonctionner !!!
Le téléphone étant indépendant des jours travaillés, je ne voie pas quel problème tu auras pour faire des réservations !!!!
Sauf d'avoir oublié d'acheter du Laud pour ton téléphone ! Là tu peux avoir problème !

Si tu vas à Palavas les flots ou à Biarritz , tu vas avoir de la foule !

Ou faire le mont Vignemale dans les Pyrénées, tu n'y rencontrera pas foule !

Denisios a raison, c'est étrange de psychoter autant sur la semaine sainte aux Phils... je pense que c'est plus galère pour Noel et jour de l'an à cause de tous les expats Phils qui reviennent à cette époque.
Si tu n'aimes pas les foules, tu arrives à Manille, tu vas direct à l'aeroport intérieur tu prends le premier avion pour une petite ville, ensuite, tu demandes la resort la plus proche, et tu poses ta serviette.
Après Baguio ca risque d'etre un peu full, car c'est une destination touristique aussi pour les Philippins, ensuite aller vraiment dans les montagnes de Luzon juste pour 8 jours, tu vas perdre 2 jours en trajet.
Cela peut par contre concerner toutes les villes moyennes des phils un heure d'avion maxi et hop : Vigan, Legaspi, Ormoc, Tacloban, Surigao, Tabilaran, Dumaguete, Bacolod, Iloilo, Puerto princesa, Coron etc etc Je cite ni davao, ni cebu ni Zamboanga car ce sont des grandes villes s'il y a aussi des resorts elles seront probablement pris d'assaut par la jet set locale. ( evite Luzon en general à par Baler qui est marrant c pas top les plages de Luzon )
Pourquoi tu parles de réserver tu prends que des chambres à 100$ ? si tu as l'habitude de voyager sans rien prévoir, tu t'en sortiras sans probleme.
Cf un expat d'un autre forum, il a été bloqué à Sagada à cette période (plus de transport, il a du prendre un taxi) et tous les hôtels étaient complets! Donc il à dormi chez l'habitant, par chance.
Au final, tout le monde se contredit dans les posts et sur les forums. Réserves, réserves pas, vas dans la Cordillera, ni vas pas....essayes Bohol, non surtout pas Bohol....
Mettez-vous déjà d'accord et après on en reparle...

Mais chacun a SA vérité, en fonction de son caractère, de sa façon de voir les choses, de ses réactions, des ses capacité, de sa richesses, de ses contraintes, de sa débrouillardise, etc.
Tu dis un gars a été "bloqué " à Sagada" et il a du prendre un taxi ! Il n'a pas été "BLOQUE" puisqu'il a pu prendre un taxi !
Il aurait été "BLOQUE" s'il avait du rester sur place une journée de plus !
Il n'a pas pu prendre le moyen de locomotion qu'il avaient prévu; mais il a continué sa route !
Assurerais-tu à 100 % , à un étranger, qu'il pourra prendre le métro à Paris, TOUS les jours, sans problèmes, pour aller travailler ?
A plus forte raison quand on voyage, il y a des aléas !!!

A Pacque 2009, je suis allé à Boracay ; Rien réservé d'avance . Sur le front de mer tout était ccomplet. Mais j'ai fini par trouver une chambre ventilé à l'intérieure de la ville. Et pour 800 Pesos seulement !
a Pacque 2010, j'étais à Dumagueté. Le jour de Pacques, avec 6 autres personnes de l’hôtel, nous avons été plonger sur APO.
On était venu pour cela et le patron de l’hôtel s'est démerdé pour nous organiser la sortie !
L'an dernier, j'habitais Davao et j'avais ma maison. Donc pas de problème de logement.
J'ai eu un petit problème pour aller déjeuner chez un ami. J'ai voulu emprunter un itinéraire qui "coupait" un endroit où il y avait une procession. on a du donc faire un détour et on est arrivé avec presque 1 h de retard.
Sur le moment c'est chiant, mais finalement c'est pas bien grave !
L'AM on a été quand même sur Samal, comme précu , et tranquille !!!

The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.

For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
