Je vais reservé le BP hotel a CHIANG MAI pour le mois de mars
Quelqu'un a t-il des infos sur cet Hotel???propreté, emplacement, chambre. Les chambres à l'étage ont elles un balcon? (13€ la nuit) est-ce un endroit trés bruyant car celui ci est proche de l'aéroport??
Sinon avez des guesthouses ou Hotel à me proposé??

Ok je te comprends après ce temps de vol tu n'as qu'une envie à faire c'est de prendre un taxi et indiqué là ou tu dois aller normal, regarde CECI très bien là sinon tu as plein de possibilité aussi dans Chiang-Maï .
Pour Phuket il est sur que Patong pour ceux qui recherche la tranquillité c'est pas là qu'il faut aller, mais bon y aller une soirée ou deux pour y faire la fête ok et encore c'est selon ce qu'on recherche, mais Kamala là c'est un endroit très charmant ou Bang-Tao là je peux te donner des adresses sympa aussi, selon la fouchette de ton budget .

les 3 sont bien a toi de voir ce que tu cherches, un peu, beaucoup...ou pas du tout...de tranquillité? (le tiercé n'est pas dans l'ordre) 😉 ...en tout cas les 3 sont plus tranquilles que Patong et les plages plus jolies 😎
Le BP hotel est situé un peu à l'écart du secteur touristique en plein milieu de la vieille ville. Ce n'est pas un lieu bruyant.
Dans l'aile ancienne du BP on trouve des chambres sans intérêt, juste OK, la déco est kitsch et usée (pas de balcon).
Il y a une aile toute récente avec de très belles chambres décorées en style Lanna, une petite terrasse ouvrant sur la piscine. C'est plutôt là qu'il faut dormir. Evidemment ce n'est pas le même prix.
A la personne qui va au Lai Thai... mon avis perso est que payer plus de 400 Baht pour une de leurs petites chambres aux salles de bains limites niveau salubrité, et coincé au bout de Kothchasarn Road (sans doute la rue avec le plus de traffic mis à part l'autoroute) c'est franchement abusé.
A ce prix on a une chambre au Chiang Mai Thai House ou au Top North Hotel (si on tient à la piscine).

Que peux tu me dire sur l'emplacement?? Y a t-il un site internet?? Pour les hotels je pense pas mettre + que 15€ (budget oblige) sur chiang mai.
Pour Kamala je prends toutes les infos même sur Bang-Tao, car comme je ne suis pas encore décidé cela me laisse le temps de voir et d'étudier toutes vos propositions. Mon budget est serré maxi mais vraiment maxi 25€/j

Dans tes prix, personnel très sympa, AC, TV sat, piscine et en face de la plage...assez excentré du centre pour pas être trop bruyant tout en étant pas trop loin pour que tout soit accessible a pied 😉
Si je comprends bien pour le BP hotel il vaut mieux demander le nv batiment. J'ai tenté une réservation par le biais de asiaroom et d'autres mais à aucun moment on te propose les chambres dont tu parles et encore moins de tarif + élevé. Sais tu comment je dois procéder pour avoir accé à ces prestations(nv batiment)??
Pour le Lai Thai tout laisse à croire que le rapport qualité/prix n'est pas top.
La nouvelle aile a été achevée en Novembre. C'est la partie "boutique hotel" 3 fois plus cher que l'ancienne. Ils lui ont même donné un nom séparé: Huen Luang Prabang. C'est pourtant le même hotel, même entrée, même reception...
Pas sûr que tous les sites discounts aient été mis à jour. Mais je crois que ça dépasserait ton budget.
Une petite "boutique" guesthouse stylée: http://mandalachiangmai.com tranquilité garantie sauf si tu choisis le bâtiment séparé (de l'autre côté de la rue) avec les chambres ventilo: il y a une mare juste derrière et tu dors avec le chant des grenouilles. Au début ça fait exotique, à 3 heures du mat, ça casse juste les burnes (mais comme la saison des pluies est terminée elles doivent être calmées).
Je connais le topnorth à chiang mai, en octobre nous payons 800 bht, le site www.topnorthgroup.com, je le trouve très bien; il y a aussi guesthouse qq rues plus loin;et il y a sauna sur place, à l'hotel il y a les masseuses au bord de la piscine, à phuket 700 bht au goldensandinn tous les deux avec clim tv et piscine, il y a bungalows si ça t'intéresse j'ai des photos des deux hotels

Je suis allé voir le site effectivement l'hotel à l'air trés bien, il m'intéresse beaucoup. La seule chose c'est que jaimerais voir une chambre type standard bungalows à 1300 bath pour ma période. Car seule des photos de la deluxe room et superior bungalow sont apparement disponibles sur leur site. Je me demande si il y a vraiment une grosse différence et a quoi dois-je m'attendre une fois sur place( y-a t-il au moin l'air conditionné et l'eau chaude). As tu des photos ou bien connais tu un autre site ou je peux en trouver??

Je viens d'aller sur le site mandalachiangmai qui a l'air trés bien mais complet pour ma période du mois de mars, tant pis je continue mes recherches si tu en connait d'autres n'hésite pas.
J'ai pas la photo de l'intérieur mais il y a l'AC, une SdB avec eau chaude, TV sat et minibar ou on te mets 2 bouteilles d'eau tous les jours. Je préfère le standard bungalow au supérieur, c'est pareil pour les prestations juste un peu plus petit, mais plus tranquille car pas au bord de la piscine. Voila une photo 😉

Je n'ai pas d'autre photos de l'hotel mais celles de leur site sont très proches de la réalité. Sinon pour la plage j'ai perdu toutes les photos que j'avais prise la 1ère fois en janvier 2006 mais j'y suis retourné en novembre-décembre 2006 et avril 2007, alor je t'offre ce coucher de soleil sur la plage juste en face de l'hotel, juste la route a traverser 😎
J'ai aussi une photo de la plage la journée mais la qualité est moyenne, c'est pris avec le téléphone portable 😉
Pour les excursions tu peux les prendre a l'hotel ou ailleurs, de toute facon on vient te chercher a l'hotel, il y a une petite agence de voyage a l'intérieur.

Samui je connais pas encore car chaque fois que j'etais en Thailande (sauf en avril la dernière fois ou je n'avais pas le temps) il y pleuvait des cordes 😉 Phi Phi a voir mais j'aime pas, Lanta j'en parle juste un post plus bas sur les constructions a PHi Phi justement 😉 mais a Phi Phi y a de belles plages, faut y aller en bateau pour être tranquille, demandes a nnthanh, henridusud ou autre accroc de cette île 😎

j'ai pas mal de photo de karon, et d'autres plages aussi, c'est la deuxième fois que nous y allons, en octobre donc de retour de puis 1 mois et demi 😕, comme je t'ai indiqué nous avons payé 700 bht la chambre, alors qu'à Chiang mai nous payons 800 bht, il y a effectivement airco, sdb enfin douche que tu vas connaitre parce que très différent de l'europe et frigo bar, ou ils mettent un peu plus que 2 bouteilles d'eau, mais il est mieux d'aller au seven c'est moins cher, et évidement la télé, ils captent tv5 pas mal pour rester informé quand on part tout 1 mois, en ce qui concerne les iles, nous sommes allés à kho phi phi, nous avons payé 4.000 et quelque baht 3 jours, 2 nuits 2 personnes tout compris, cad on vient te prendre a l'hotel on t'amène à phuket town tu prend le bateau, l'hotel sur place qui etait très bien avec petit dej, et le retour jusqu'à l'hotel, mais je tiens a te préciser qu'il faut aller dans la bonne agence, parce qu'il y en a une qq maisons plus loin ou on te demande près du double du prix 🏴☠️

en ce qui concerne les photos j'en ai une panoplie à te montrer malheureusement je n'arrive pas à les mettre ici sur le forum elles sont trop volumineuses 😕 alors si tu veux je te propose de me donner ton e mail et je te les envoie, j'en ai aussi de phi phi, que j'ai trouvé très bien mais pour nous 3 jours ça suffit, ce qui y etait génial c'etait d'y nager sous l'eau avec les poissons, pas de plongée juste snoorkeling

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

For those familiar with SOUTHEAST ASIA, I'm planning to leave in mid-June (with the trip ending at the latest in November), and I don’t have a precise idea of exact places or itineraries yet. The thing is, this period is usually the rainy season...
Any advice? I was thinking of Malaysia or Indonesia, like Sulawesi, for example (all countries and islands in Southeast Asia interest me except Bali).
Any recommendations? I’m doing my research online, but if anyone here has the time and knowledge, I’d love to hear from you.

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

Thanks for all your contributions on the forum—they’ve really helped me plan my trip. There are four of us friends heading to Sulawesi for 20 days. Based on all your advice, I’ve put together the following itinerary:
July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home
Overall, what do you think?
I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
