mais maintenant j hesite a retourner d urgence en france car je pense que le policier voulait preparer un coup monter du genre j avais de la drogue sur moi ... enfin j ai entendu auparavant que les policiers thailandais etaient tres malin et avait souvent des liens avec des reseaux mafieux
maintenant je reste dans ma chambre car j ai peur d un eventuel coup monte

si j etais sur que c t un coup monter pour essayer de m emtuber pour possesion de drogue par exmple je fou le camp de ce pays le plus rapidement possible
surtout que j ai la vingtaine je pense qu il croyait que j etais une proie facile mais j ai tres peu parler et je continuais a marcher rapidement

N'y pense pas ou plutôt, ne te focalise pas dessus... S'il n'y a rien eu, c'est que tout s'est très bien passé finalement ? 🙂 heureusement que tu n'as pas couru pour échapper au flic, là tu aurais eu l'air suspect et probablement une proie facile pour les magouilles...
Si tu n'as rien à te reprocher, il ne faut pas te priver de vacances dans un aussi beau pays à cause de ragots. Etre vigilant oui... Parano... J'en doute 🤪
Je pense que ton flic devait simplement s'emmerder. Je voyage seul aussi et je me suis rendu compte que les personnes seules etaient davantage interpellees par des gens malhonnetes que les autres. Une regle d'or pour ne pas tomber dans leurs magouilles : si une personne vient vers toi c'est qu'elle a qqch derriere la tete specialement dans les capitales. Je l'ai experimente a Kuala Lumpur et a Bangkok ou je viens d'arriver mais pas en province. Et si c un flic : sorry I don't speak english... et tu files. mais je pense pas que tu ais a craindre qoui que ce soit de la part des policiers.
Evite toutefois de tomber dans la parano. Si une personne entame la discussion avec toi dans un resto, elle est peut etre tout simplement curieuse de savoir d'ou tu viens etc... mais tu te rendras en general vite compte de ses intentions.
Alors profite bien de ton voyage, cool la Thailande !
PS : evite Ko Samui dans les jours qui viennent. J'en reviens et il y fait un temps de m....
et pour Pattaya (que je ne connais pas), je te deconseille d'y aller egalement si tu veux eviter les magouilles. mais d'autres VFistes sauront mieux te renseigner que moi sur cette destination.

rien qu'hier on s'est fait arrêter pour contrôle voiture ... kom par hasard la voiture n'a pas voulu rédémarrer (devant leurs yeux) on leur a demandé leur aide pour pousser et pouvoir rédémarrer et ça a été du "démerdez vous nous on a fait que notre boulot et d'ailleurs on y retourne" !
enfin heuresuement un gentil couple passait par là et nous a aidé mais franchement ça donne envie de les taper !
tu as bien eu raison de tracer ... perso j'aurais essayé de placer les mots "police des touristes" mais que cela ne gâche pas tes vacances 🤪

C'est tellement gros que je n'arrive pas à y croire.
Tu pars seul dans un pays et une région que tu ne connais manifestement pas en ayant peu d'expérience de voyage, ce qui représente déjà un cas gigantesque de courage et/ou d'inconscience. La plupart d'entre nous ont commencé comme ça, mais il y a finalement peu de monde qui démarre direct sans guide ou sans copain pour venir avec. C'est bien, mais cela requiert en général une certaine force de caractère pour sauter le pas.
Et à la première connerie bénigne qui arrive dans un pays facile, tu lances un appel au secours en tremblant comme une feuille.
Il y a en tout cas quelque chose que je ne comprends pas.
Merci Koudou, je vois que je ne suis pas le seul à rester perplexe devant le cas de Jupiter. Mon seul conseil est qu'il trouve d'autres voyageurs et qu'il trace la route avec eux car il ne semble par encore prêt à voyager en solo.

pour te rassurer, la "touriste police" est très efficace et très crainte à bkk.
ceci dit ce sera sans doute le seul problème que tu rencontreras avec les petits hommes en chemise ceintrée...tu es jeune et il pensait sans doute de soutirer un peu de fric, te tracasses pas, et garde toujours le sourire de celui qui en a vu d'autres et qui connait le pays comme si il y était né...
un autre truc, tu peux tjrs dire que tu travailles à l'ambassy!!!! ça marche partout dans les pays où la corruption r$egne en maitre...

D'abord, je ne suis pas une voyageuse, mais un voyageur. Probablement mon côté féminin qui déborde de mes messages ?
Ensuite, je ne sais pas du tout ce que peut être un "voyageur tel que les voyageurs l'entendent" et encore moins quel est le rapport avec mon message.
=> Mon message n'avait pas pour objet d'aller taper sur quelqu'un qui exprimait du désarroi, mais d'exprimer un doute sur la réalité exprimé par le message.
Il y a une incohérence entre la force de caractère et la personnalité que requiert le fait de décider d'aller seul dans un pays inconnu, sans expérience de voyage et sans guide ni organisation et le fait de trembler comme une feuille en n'osant plus plus sortir de sa chambre.
Et croyez moi, j'en ai vu des voaygeurs : des peureux et des pas peureux, dans des endroits touristiques et des endroits sauvages. Simplement, cela ne correspond pas : il y a un truc qui n'est pas cohérent.
=> Cela dit, je n'affirme pas que c'est bidon, parce que même si ce n'est pas cohérent et peu probable, il reste un possibilité d'un inconscient complet. Mais si vraiment cette personne a eu suffisamment d'audace pour partir seule et voyager comme ça, je suis bien serein sir le fait que ce qu'il a exprimé ne va pas durer bien longtemps !
=> il se peut aussi que ce soit quelqu'un qui s'imagine ce qui pourrait arriver alros qu'il n'est pas parti. Et effectivement, il tremble bien et d'une certaine façon il se rassure de n'avoir pas eu le courage de partir seul. Ou peut-être pas.
On trouve de tout sur les post d'internet : la plupart sur VF ne me posent pas de problèmes parce que je comprends. Mais il n'y a aucune raison que sur VF comme sur touts les forums il n'y ait pas de messages bidons.

Tu as peut être raison, je n'ai pas été le témoin de choses de ce genre, mais intellectuellement, je comprends assez bien tes explications.
Je ne sais pas si cela s'applique dans ce cas, mais compte tenu qu'un syndrome de stendahl fait appel à des mécanismes comportementaux ne répondant pas des situations habituelles, j'ose imaginer qu'un compotement qui me semble incohérent ne le soit effectivement pas dans un autre référentiel.

Faut remettre les choses dans l'ordre, Jupiter il est en train de flipper sa race parce qu'il a échangé 3 mots avec un gars en uniforme dans une rue glauque de Bangkok. Est-ce que c'était un policier d'abord ? Il n'y a eu aucune menace verbale ni physique, Jupiter il s'est fait son film dans sa tête... un flic ripou qui veut lui glisser de la drogue dans la poche pour pouvoir l'arrêter... 😕 comme scénario de film, c'est bidon, même Luc Besson n'en voudrait pas.
Si on commence à fouetter pour ça, alors faut arrêter tout de suite et rentrer chez maman. Et quand on veut visiter les coins chauds il faut un minimum d'assurance.

Sans aller à la remise en question totale comme Koudou, la première idée qui m'est venue à l'esprit est qu'il devait s'agir de l'un des nombreux gardiens d'immeuble ou de centres commerciaux que l'on peut rencontrer dans les rues de Bangkok.

Salut écoute, p-e que c'est ce qu'il voulait faire, mais apparemment il n'a pas réussi, il ne faut pas paranoyer non plus. Continue ton voyage surtout, et moi je suis allée en juillet et août dernier partout où tu est allée et où tu cmptes allée, prive-toi pas de voyager pour ça. Ça fait peur oui, mais c'est fini. Parle juste pas aux policiers bizarres! Allez continue et va à Koh Tao, Koh Samui Koh Pha Nagn, Rai leh beach à Krabui et Koh phi phi. si tu vas à Phuket, va à la plage de Kata beach tu te feras moins achaller!

Te fais pas de mouron, si t'as la conscience tranquille ! Les flics comme dans de nombreux pays s'em... parfois et ils ont envie de lier conversation.
Je n'ai eu que de bonnes expériences avec la police à Bangkok; une fois pour partir à l'aéroport aucun taxi ne voulait s'arrêter, c'est un flic qui, d'autorité, en a arrêté un, m'a ouvert la porte avec un grand sourire et ordonné au chauffeur de mettre le cap sur l'aéroport ! 😏
Une autre fois, je me suis fait arnaquer par un toubib qui m'a demandé un prix prohibitif pour sa consultation, mon épouse thaie a appelé la police ("normale", la touristique n'a pas voulu intervenir), ils sont descendus à deux dans la clinique et le médecin m'a remboursé. Les deux flics n'ont pas voulu de pourboire... Dans quel pays peux tu faire appel à la police pour une facture trop élevée ? Alors cool, passe d'excellentes vacances, sois prudent, mais pas de parano.

Il t'est arrivé le même coup....
la Thailande est un pays extra. Les gens sont sympas. Ne gâche pas tes vacances pour cette connerie.
PS. Il m'est arrivé d'oublier mon sac avec mon caméscope dans un resto à Bangkok. La serveuse me l'a apporté dans la rue. Tu verrais ça chez nous, toi ? ce sont des boudhistes, ne l'oublie pas.
oui diogène je suis d'accord avec toi, mais tu as une épouse thai, et etre accompagné d 'un thai facilite à 95 pourcents les relations, mais pour une personne qui ne parle pas le thai et parle plus ou moins l'anglais c'est pas la meme chose🤪. lorsque je me déplace à bangkok avec mon amie thai tout est plus simple, les visites, les déplacements, le shopping ...

déjà il faut rester cool si on le peut ; et avoir un minimum de connaissance : sans parano un policier est officiellement un corrompu ; mais corruption a la thai ;( nuance ) il faut être en faute pour se faire harponner ;
j'en déduis que ton interprétation du policier c'est ait simplement un gardien d'immeuble qui copient souvent l'uniforme de la police qui t'a accoster pour une raison que je ne connais pas ; je crois que il ne faut pas s'inquiéter du tout ; en cas de doute ; aller voir la tourisme police ; ils sont l'a pour que vous passes du bon temps ;

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.

• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?

July 30: Makassar – sightseeing
July 31: Makassar – sightseeing + overnight bus to Rantepao
August 1–7: Tana Toraja with a guide
August 7: Tana Toraja to Tentena + visit Tentena
August 8: Early departure with a private driver to Ampana, then ferry to the Togian Islands
August 9–15: Togian Islands (2 different resorts)
August 15: Depart Togian Islands for Luwuk
August 16: Flight Luwuk to Makassar
August 17: Rammang Rammang
August 18: Stroll in Makassar, then return home

I also have a question about the connection between Tentena and the Togian Islands: Is it doable to leave early in the morning as planned and still be sure not to miss the ferry?

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
