Hi there, we're leaving on October 17th for 5 days. Arriving in Tunis. I'm looking into heading west toward Tabarka and the Kef region.

Itinerary:

- Bizerte and surroundings (Cap Negro, etc.)

- Kroumirie massif (2-day trek)

- Tabarka

- Then return via Dougga

- Possibly the Kef region.

Could you let me know if the area (Kroumirie / Tabarka) is still pleasant in mid-October or if it's already too late?

Also, what are the must-see spots I shouldn’t miss if I’ve forgotten any?

I see that the Kef region is interesting too—I’ll look into it more. All info is welcome!

Finally, depending on your feedback, maybe it’d be better to head toward Cap Bon or Sousse / Mahdia instead.

Hello! Your itinerary is great—honestly, it’s a fantastic idea for this time of year. In October, the Kroumirie region and Tabarka are still really pleasant: the weather is mild (around 22–25°C), the forests are lush and green, and there are fewer crowds. That said, you might want to pack a light rain jacket—there can be some light rain around Aïn Draham. Don’t miss if you’re in the area:

Lake Ichkeul—it’s stunning, especially with the autumn light. The hot springs in Aïn Draham (locals love going there when it’s a bit chilly). The old port of Tabarka and the needles at sunset—gorgeous. And of course, Dougga, an incredible ancient site that’s very well preserved. To get around easily, it’s best to have a car (the distances can be a bit long). Personally, I rented one through plany.tn, which made things so much simpler. If you want a more beachy vibe at the end of your trip, you could finish up in Hammamet or Cap Bon—perfect for relaxing before heading home.

Have a great trip!
