Ah les vacances, elles arrivent à grand pas et pourtant je n' ai pas trop préparé mon voyage 😉
Comme vous l' avez compris nous partons plusieurs jour en Italie. Au programme Bergames - Venises - Cinque Terre.
Nous passons 3 jours et quatre nuits dans chaque endroit.
Que me conseillez vous de faire dans ces différentes destinations ?

Je ne connais que Bergame et la visite de la cite alta ne prend qu’une grosse journée...Quant à la ville basse c’est plutôt moyen...le charme de Bergame étant dans sa ville haute .
Mais quand vous avez choisi ces 3 destinations , vous avez regardé avant si cela valait 1 ou 2 ou plusieurs jours de visite ou vous avez choisi au « hasard « ?
Je n’en comprends pas non plus le circuit : d’abord Bergame puis Venise et enfin les Cinque Terre ? Avez vous une voiture ?

Trois semaines entre Montréal, Québec et la Nouvelle Angleterre
Comme il est dit plus haut, une journée suffit pour visiter Bergame. mais, de Bergame, on peut prendre le train pour aller passer une journée dans les environs, et il y a l'embarras du choix : Côme, Lecco, Breccia, le lac de Garde, le lac d'Iseo, Vérone, Crémone - sans oublier Milan.
1 journée à Bergame c'est largement suffisant , en faisant aussi le centre ville qui est dans la ville basse , indispensable si on veut voir la vraie Italie et pas seulement des vieilles pierres ; vous pouvez éventuellement aller les 2 autres jours à Milan pour avoir un aperçu , possible aussi si vous avez une voiture le lac de Come
3 jours dans les 5 terre , si c'est pour faire des randonnées à titre sportif ou vous prélasser sur une plage ( si vous trouvez une place ) , ok ; sinon , c'est trop : les villages ( une rue avec des marchands de souvenirs made in china et de mauvais restos pas chers pour touristes ) , quand on en a visité un , on les a tous visités ; bien plus intéressants dans le secteur Portovenere , Portofino ou Camogli
3 jours à Venise , pas de problème ; vous pourrez voir ci après ce que je fait en 2 jours et demi lors de mon dernier voyage dans la Sérénissime

Donc, on sera en voiture et le circuit est bien Bergame - Venise - Cinque Terre.
En lisant vos réponse je vois que pour ce qui est de Bergame (ville basse, Lac de Côme) et Venise on ne devrait pas s' ennuyer.
Milan ? Pourquoi pas, même si on préfère parfois la 'campagne' .
L' idée de ce petit périple c' est coté campagne pour Bergame, monuments pour Venise et proche de l' eau pour les Cinque Terre
Concernant les Cinque Terre, nous serons logé à La Spezia. Si les villages cité ci-dessus semble magnifique il y a t' il un endroit que vous me conseillez pour une journée 'plage'. On est pas forcément fan de la farniente sur le sable mais une journée de pause pourra nous faire du bien.
Avez vous des lieux à me conseiller concernant la restauration dans ou proche de ces lieux ?
Le seul des 5 villages qui possède une "plage" est Monterosso Al Mare.
Corniglia est perché sur le rocher et dans les 3 autres villages, les amateurs de baignade se trouvent un petit morceau de pierre plate pour étaler leur serviettes de bain.
Vous êtes probablement averti de la difficulté de se rendre dans ces villages en voiture. Il existe une carte à la journée qui comprend le train et l'entrée à certains chemins qui sont payants. Il faut donc en fonction du programme prévu envisager soit la carte, soit payer le train par billet.

Plus modeste notre expérience
Si vous cherchez une adresse resto à La Spezia, nous avions bien mangé (voir la vidéo) à la trattoria Nueva Spezia, mais c'est toujours difficile de recommander un endroit. La terrasse sur le hauteurs à Manarola pour un light lunch était aussi très sympa.
Fin été 2017 nous avons effectué un voyage de 3 semaines de Trévise à Bergame. 4 logements le long de notre circuit . Nous avons visité Trévise, Conegliano, Vittorio veneto, follina, castel franco veneto, cittadella, vicenze, soave, vérone, lonato del garda, pas mal de villages du lac de garde comme Sirmione, Salo, Desenzano del garda, peschiera del garda, Bardolino, Gardone riviera, Limone sul garda, riva del garda + milan un jour, brescia, bergame, mantova, cremona et un jour Venise pour la revoir en été, pour voir si Venise différente en été, dix ans après y avoir été, pure curiosité...
Venise : nous y avons passé une semaine en février 2008, quand carnaval et un jour aussi à Venise en été 2017 (train de Trévise à Venise). Pour nous : en février 2008 : une semaine à Venise c'était de trop, de là avons été visiter Padova, ïle de Murano. Mais Venise = très belle destination pour quelques jours 😉.
Allez peut-être quand même passer quelques heures sur l'île de Murano, très jolie, agréable de s'y promener, facile de s'y rendre...
5 terres : çà nous n'avons pas encore eu l'occasion de nous y rendre même si nous avons déjà fait 7 voyages en Italie (régions à chaque fois différentes) et que 8ième en préparation (pouilles) 😉
Bergame alto : c'est vraiment très joli, nous y sommes restés environ 6 heures. suffisant...
Depuis Bergame : je vous conseille :
- de faire une journée vers le lac de garde pour visite de Sirmione (ou + de villages si pas peur des kms) mais entre Bergame et Sirmione faites peut-être un arrêt de 2-3 heures à Brescia (très jolie ville) et là si intéressés ne manquez surtout pas la visite (gratuite en 2017 pour nous) de l'église : Santa Maria delle Grazie et de son sanctuaire (juste à côté) entrée par un petit cloître...Cette église et son sanctuaire sont tout simplement Magnifiques !
ou alors si vous en avez les moyens : allez en voiture de Bergame à Desenzano del garda et là partez pour la journée en bateau vers Limone sul Garda, riva del garda ou autre village du nord du lac de garde et ce assez tôt le matin 🤪. Perso nous avions choisi un billet de bateau assez coûteux qui nous permettait de faire plusieurs arrêts le long du lac de garde, dans les villages qui nous intéressaient et de reprendre ensuite le bateau vers un autre village de notre choix...J'avais dû bien étudier les horaires pour ce faire, pour que quelques heures dans chaque village, pour que retour en bateau ok aussi au retour etc...La traversée le matin a été tout simplement magique pour nous car "bateau ouvert", très belles vues, très peu de voyageurs car tôt alors sur le pont à l'avant : étions seuls....à l'aller nous avons été en bateau jusqu'à Limone sul garda (trèèèès beau), puis de là, quelques heures plus tard, nous avons repris un bateau vers Riva del garda (trèèèès beau) et au retour arrêt à gardone (bof pour nous, tout petit, vraiment pas beaucoup de choses à y voir)....des trois villages, le plus beau à notre avis = limone sul garda...seul regret : ne pas y être restés plus longtemps car ensuite nous avions prévu de nous rendre à Riva del garda, mais entre ces deux villages : encore de magnifiques vues...Au retour nous avons fait un arrêt à gardone (regret d'avoir fait cet arrêt, plus de beaux hôtels là...). Si vous choisissez de prendre le bateau vers un seul endroit et pas vers plusieurs (bien moins onéreux) : je conseille vraiment de vous rendre à Limone sul Garda depuis desenzano. Si cela vous intéresse voir le site : www.navigazionelaghi.it pour horaires traversées, prix etc...
-Et de Bergame je vous conseille aussi pour 3ième jour : la visite de Milan (1 jour). Nous pensions que cette visite ne nous intéresserait pas beaucoup, avons été déçus par le passé par les visites de grandes villes comme Madrid, Lisbonne, nous pensions au départ que nous reviendrons déçus aussi de Milan mais sommes curieux de nature et étions proches de Milan en train....Nous y sommes donc allés un jour entier en train depuis notre logement à lonato del garda (sous le lac de garde). Finalement cette visite un jour de Milan nous a vraiment énormément plu ! Vraiment beaucoup de très jolies choses à y voir ! Pas eu le temps de voir tout ce que nous voulions, pas eu le temps non plus de visiter le quartier "Navigli" qui m'intéressait aussi...je recommande vraiment cette visite de Milan même si "grande ville" !
Et pour couper votre route entre Bergame et venise : je vous conseille vraiment de faire sur la route deux petits arrêts si possible pour vous : soit Soave et Vicenza. pas de gros détours et là : de très belles choses à voir même si on se contente de visiter que l'extérieur de ces endroits, belles balades... !
Et pour couper votre route entre Venise et la Spezia : je vous conseille vraiment un arrêt de quelques heures à Bologne si possible pour vous encore une fois et à Modèna aussi si possible pour vous...Ou à Vérone, Mantova ou Modèna si vous choisissez l'autre route rapide...
Avez-vous déjà réservé vos logements ?
Si pas j'ai une très bonne adresse pour Bergame avec parking privé gratuit, très chouette logement très propre, au rez, très bien équipé, très grande terrasse privative, très bien situé pour visites à pied de Bergamo alto et bergamo bas depuis le logement, proprio vraiment très sympa etc...Et propriétaire nous avait donné une très bonne adresse de resto très proche de son logement : Restaurant pizzeria Byron à Via Palma Il Vecchio, 33, 24121 Bergamo BG, Italie, très bon....
et j'ai aussi une trèèèèèès bonne adresse de logement à lonato del garda (juste sous le lac de garde) et de là très facile et rapide de se rendre à Bergame, à Brescia, à Vérone, au lac de garde, à Venise, à Milan en train ou en voiture etc...ce logement = super bien équipé, très propre, petit jardin clôturé donnant sur le séjour, très grande chambre, très chouette salle de bains, grand lit et bonne literie, au calme (impasse) mais à 5 minutes en voiture du centre et dans emplacement assez central pour ces visites...Repos assuré là la nuit et le jour quand envie comme nous de nous poser un jour aussi...

Suivant vos conseils on va faire une journée vers le lac de garde avec visite de Sirmione et Brescia.
Est il simple de se stationner dans ces villes début août ? Nous ferons Bergame - Sirmione - Brescia - Bergame et nous serons vers 10h00 à Sirmione
Sirmione est au bout d'une presqu'île, dès qu'on s'est engagé sur celle-ci, il y a des parkings et un bus navette, c'est très bien fléché, il vaut mieux ne pas insister et ne pas aller plus loin... pas vu en août, mais en septembre, système impeccable.
A Brescia, il y a des parkings autour de la vieille ville, cela ne devrait pas être très compliqué...
Je trouve que bon choix Sirmione à l'aller et Brescia au retour 😉
Aucun souci pour se parquer à Brescia. Je viens de vérifier : nous avions mis la voiture au parking "Fossa Bagni", mais à la première entrée pas à l'entrée secondaire...Nous entrée parking c'était juste avant d'entrer dans un tunnel si bon souvenir et en bas du château...De là une dizaine de minutes à pied et nous étions dans le vieux centre. C'était très bon emplacement pour nous.
Pour Sirmione : il y avait beaucoup de monde quand nous y étions, nous avons garé notre voiture au parking : "Monte Baldo" Via Marconi, 4, mais comme l'a dit Mathilde : il y a vraiment beaucoup de parkings à Sirmione...

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?
- Is the road through the narrow valley of the White Lütschine toward Lauterbrunnen and beyond still worth it in terms of views and scenery?

I’ve found some great deals on flights to two destinations: Menorca in the Balearic Islands and Alghero in Sardinia.
The flights would take us from Bordeaux to Menorca on the evening of 9/07 and return to Bordeaux in the evening on 13/07.
Or to Alghero very early on 10/07 (departure at 6 AM) and return in the mid-afternoon on 13/07.
We love beautiful landscapes, the sea, snorkeling, walks (hiking), and the charm of villages.
We want to spend some quality time as a couple without our kids and mix discovery with relaxation.
I can’t make up my mind. The transport costs are roughly the same when you factor in parking for Sardinia since the early departure means no public transport from home.
We’ve never been to Menorca, Sardinia, or Italy at all. I’ve been to Majorca, though.
Menorca would be 4 nights and 4 days, while Alghero would be 3 nights and 2.5 days.
Also, what itinerary would you recommend for Alghero and Menorca?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Summer 2027 is going to be Norwegian for us!
We’re heading to the Lofoten Islands first, then Senja, near Tromsø, and finally the North Cape.
We’ll likely start from northern Finland (flight tickets and car rentals are more affordable there).
I’d like to book accommodations early to have more options.
Good value-for-money places go fast in these pricey Nordic destinations...

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
