J'ai en général l'habitude d'organiser tout seul mes voyages à l'étranger, et n'utiliser une agence de voyage que pour réserver et/ou payer des prestations moins chères que celles que je trouve sur le net!
Ceci étant, pour l'Egypte, que nous prévoyons de visiter cet hiver ou printemps 2006, je me tate pour m'y risquer, mais peut être qu'avec les conseils des uns et des autres, dont "LOUXOR", je vais m'y lancer!!
En attendant et pour commencer à me faire une idée, je me demande s'il existe un T.O. qui propose un voyage d'au moins 15 jours, sans faniente sur la Mer Rouge qui ne nous intéresse pas, avec peut être quelques jours au Caire, la vallée des rois, louxor, karnak et je ne sais quoi encore!!
Ce qui nous intéresse: les vieilles pierres, en général nous partons avec nos chaussures de montagne pour marcher, ! Donc les civilités et autres amusements urbains ne nous intéresse que très peu en voyages!
Existe-t-il une ou plusieurs agences en France (nous sommes à LYON) qui puissent monter un voyage à la demande (nous avons ainsi procédé pour 2 semaines en californie, et j'ai ensuite vérifié que ce que je payais était moins cher que ce que je pouvais trouver, masi aux US on trouve beaucoup de choses sur le Net).
Je pense également à repartir en Egypte d'ici un an ou deux. Et les voyages tout fait, très peu pour moi, on doit souvent tout faire au pas de courses. C'est mon dernier voyage en Egypte en 2001 qui m'a décidé à tout organisé moi-même et en plus, c'est souvent meilleur marché. Donc pour l'Egypte, je nai pas d'adresse d'agence locale mais j'ai des amis hyper exigents qui y ont été l'année passée avec une agence egyptienne et ils ont été assez content des prestations. Je te transmettrai l'adresse de cette agence mais elle est rangée dans mon pC au burau ...et là c'est week-end !

depuis qqs années, les T.O. ne propose plus Le Caire avec la visite du Sud, lignes aériennes directes jusqu'à Luxor🙁 et retour aussi direct 😕 sans les pyramides, les musées, le sphinx etc.

si je peux me permettre une suggestion, en premier déterminer autant que possible vos centres d'intérêts,
car voir l'Égypte en 15 jours ... impossible,
par exemple, si vous voulez visiter Le Caire avec moi (je ne suis pas un guide, juste un "amoureux" du Caire) 15 jours seront tout juste suffisants ... - lorsque vous découvrirez que tous les principaux centres d'intérêts (vieilles pierres "j'entends"), sont réparties sur 5% du territoite, et disposés du nord au sud, vous commencerez à appréhender le facteur "temps"
deuxième suggestion, courrez les bibliothèques, faites vous une doc concernant des thèmes bien déterminés; civilisation pharaonique civilisation Copte civilisation Islamique civilisation bédouine, et berbère
faites un choix drastique, je veux dire un (1) thème à la fois,
mais revenez pour faire le thème suivant,
comme Luxor, qui en est à sa 30ème visite, ou plus, je suis certain qu'à chaque fois il découvre qq chose de nouveau,
j'ai vécu 10 ans au Caire, j'y suis 2 à 3 mois tout les ans, et pourtant je découvre tjrs de nouvelles "anciennes" constructions qui m'ont échappées jusqu'à maintenant
mais j'ai peur que nos amis égyptiens ne soient pas en mesure de vous proposer qq chose "clé en main",
faites d'abord votre programme, puis en revenant ici, qqu'un sera peut être à même de vous mettre en contact avec un T.O. local, avec tous les avatars que cela peut comporter ....

Aucune difficulté, tant pour une location d'un petit appartement (flat) que pour une chambre d'hôte (c'est encore mieux, de plus, c'est une amie belge qui a épousé un Egyptien et ils pourront te conseiller utilement sur place).

nous partons le 2 mai prochain avec 2 enfants. L' agence qui a fait les meilleurs prix n' est pas les Go voyages et autres, ni internet, mais "autrement l' Egypte", bd st michel, à Paris. Comme nous aimons le confort, nous avons réservé paris-le caire sur egyptair (départ 16 heures), 3 nuits au mena House à Gizeh, un vol intérieur pour louxor (à 18 h) et 6 nuits au "sonesta st georges" à louxor. Pour manger, on se débrouillera, idem pour les visites. C' est notre cinquième séjour en Egypte, mais en ... 20 ans ....
cette agence nous a tout réservé à la carte, mais propose des séjours clé en main, sans mer rouge

merci, je note et y revbiend d'ici quelque temps, pour l'instant je suis plus pragmatique: 3 semaine en France dans 10 jours et un mois en europe centrale en septembre où, pour l'instant, je n'ai que les hebergements de retenu (c'est déjà pas mal) maintenant va falloir s'organiser et prévoir que voir!!
Ta requete est pour le moins atypique car en l'egypte, le gouvernement fait tres attention à ses touristes avec convois et policiers en civil sur les bateaux de croisière, etc... Je pense donc qu'il te sera difficile d'organiser un tel type de voyage. Saches tout de même que depuis l'attentat au temps d'Hatchepshout et l'attentat récent au Caire tu te heurteras vraisemblablement aux autorités locales. Quoiqu'il en soit l'Egypte est un pays magique (Meme la Mer Rouge envahie par les Allemands et les Russes) qu'il ne faut en aucun cas manquer.
Peut être serait il judicieux de créer un petit groupe d'amis et faire appel à un guide "particulier" car la culture egyptienne et tellement riche qu'un simple guide Lonely planet ou autre ( même une encyclopédie en 15 volumes) ne suffira pas.

Le mieux pour organiser ce genre de chose, c'est justement de se passer totalement des TO, d'y aller simplement, et de voir avec les agences locales, les guides locaux... tout ce qui peut etre fait ; dans le genre marche, il y a des choses possibles dans le desert, dans le Sinai, aussi dans les sites traditionnels de Haute Egypte, mais sans bivouac a priori. Ce n'est pas tellement que ce soit interdit, c'est que ca ne se presente pas trop bien pour ca.

My plan is roughly to do a road trip loop from Rabat back to Rabat, passing through Asilah, Tangier, Tétouan, Chefchaouen, Akchour, Fès, Meknès, and Volubilis.
That’s a lot of cities.
Probably a bit too many for our taste—we usually prefer more isolated spots...

Then, when I mentioned I wanted to stay for two or three weeks—maybe even a month—explaining that my trip wouldn’t be strictly touristy but more of a pilgrimage to the places of my childhood, and that it would likely be a very emotional journey, I expected a positive and warm reaction to my approach. Instead, I suddenly stopped getting replies from the three or four people I’d contacted. So now I’m wondering about the reception former Pieds-Noirs can expect...
Anyone here who can share their experience of returning? I specified “recently” because it seems that right now, diplomatic relations between the two governments are extremely tense, not to say hostile... even if Macron claims otherwise...

- Does it need to cover the entire duration of the trip?
- Is this document mandatory for a hotel to rent a room?
- Is it checked during inspections?
- Is a hotel booking (e.g., via Booking.com) sufficient for the visa?
- If so, does it need to be paid in advance?
I plan to visit several cities and do one or more treks with a guide or agency.

I’d like to do a route that’s a bit different from my first stay, which was more focused on cities and culture (Tunis, Sousse, Kairouan, El Jem).
I’ll be getting around by public transport.
I’d like to head south toward Tozeur, and I saw that you can take a *louage* from Monastir to Sbeitla (2h30). I imagine it’s not too complicated to get to Tozeur from there afterward? The issue is the return trip to Monastir and safety in Sbeitla.
If this route seems too complicated, I might opt for Djerba instead, which looks simpler.

Day 1-2: Explore the city center, hike around Cap Spartel...
Day 3: Stop in Tetouan
Day 4-5-6: Chefchaouen and a day hike in the Rif Mountains
Day 6-7: Discover the city of Fes (I’ve heard so many great things!!)
Day 8: Stop in Meknes and possibly visit the historic site of Volubilis
Day 9-10: Rabat (I’ve heard mixed things... some good, some bad)
After that, I have the choice of heading back to Tangier for my return flight... or going down to Agadir (also a possible return flight) and extending my trip by 5 days :)
From what I can tell, everything is well connected by bus (CTM) or train (ONCF).
Another question: Is the vibe in Moroccan youth hostels for meeting people the same as what you’d find in Western Europe?

(though there are fraudulent sites out there). On the official site, they ask for legitimate info
(name, nationality, etc.). What made me go "hmm" was the request for both an email address
AND a password (with confirmation). Is this normal?

I aimed for an excursion to the Chigaga desert from M’Hamid because it seems less touristy and allows for a more compact loop. Is that a good idea? Is the drive to M’Hamid maybe too tedious?

A lot of people find it important to stick to their budget when traveling—not to skimp, but to visit as many places as possible since traveling is their hobby.
In this post, I want to share some tips for those coming to Morocco who want their trip to be budget-friendly.
1. Prebook everything: hotels or riads, car rentals, or tours. If you book these in advance, it’ll make your life easier. You won’t have to deal with hagglers or people trying to overcharge you for services that are available online for free. Use platforms like Booking, Expedia, carsrental.ma, Airbnb, and other booking services to get this done properly.
2. Exchange your money to Moroccan dirhams as soon as you land. 1 € is always a little over 10 dirhams, but many people get charged as if it were exactly 10 dirhams per euro.
3. When visiting an old site or the old medina, avoid talking to vendors and shop owners—they’re really good at getting your attention and making you overpay for things.
4. Ask your tour guide to buy things for you. Yes, they do get a commission, but you’ll probably pay way more if you buy something yourself that they can get cheaply.
5. Walk everywhere. You don’t need a taxi for every little trip. Pick a good location and walk—most Moroccan cities are safe during normal hours.
6. Buy your food, drinks, etc., from supermarkets at normal prices. They can’t overcharge you since they scan every product.

I’m planning my next trip outside Europe for next year, but unfortunately, I don’t have a choice with the dates—it’s late June to early July. Last year, I went to Japan for three weeks, and it was constantly 36-37°C with over 90% humidity. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t impossible either.
For Egypt, I know it’s a period to avoid if possible, but I’m thinking that by the sea, it might be manageable. Otherwise, I’ll consider another destination.
Day 1: Arrival in Hurghada in the evening
Day 2, 3, 4: Hurghada
Day 5: Hurghada, then drive to Luxor in the early afternoon
Day 6: Luxor
Day 7: Luxor, then drive back to Hurghada in the late afternoon
Day 8, 9, 10, 11: Hurghada
Day 12: Return flight
For the Hurghada trip, either rent a car or—easier—a private car/van.
Is it worth adding an extra day in Luxor?
