Hello, We’re retired and would like to head to Morocco next winter, from January to March 2026, with our car and caravan. If possible, we’d love some info on traveling to Morocco and tips for several campsites. Of course, our bikes are coming along too. Thanks

You have the *Guide des campings du Maroc* "Ganidini" which is quite comprehensive.

Thanks Alain 😄, I also wanted to know if it’s possible to travel around Morocco from January to March with a fairly large caravan (8m). So far, we’ve only stayed at campsites in France, of course with our electric mountain bikes.

Yes, of course. You’ll come across plenty of them—even with trailers and small cars in tow. The main network and major roads are really good. The only downside, especially in the Atlas Mountains and the start of the desert, is that the recent rains caused major damage and often took out bridges as well. No problem getting info on the spot, especially from campsite managers. Don’t forget!! It’s not like in Sub-Saharan Africa where the "bush telegraph" works so well, or like the "Arab telephone" in the Maghreb—here, word gets around fast!!!! 😉

Thanks again, Alain,

Your information is really helpful for moving forward with our research. Let’s just say that at our age, we don’t really feel like messing up. If you happen to have any info or links for caravaners in Morocco, I’d love to see them.

Thanks, Jean-Luc

Totally personal take!! I’ve been going to Morocco for ages now, and I’ve been just about everywhere. I’ve obviously covered the entire northern half of the country, but it’s just not my thing anymore. Now I just pass through it. And once I’ve seen all the big cities and major sites pretty thoroughly, I don’t set foot there again. I only wander around below an east-west line, Essaouira to the Algerian border. It’s so much more varied and beautiful!!

Indeed, according to my map, I can see that Essaouira is still quite a ways south in Morocco. How are you getting there?
LA Lagardevicto Veteran ·
Depending on the port of arrival (Tangier city or Med), the highway from Tangier, Rabat, Casablanca, Marrakech, and then the highway all the way to Essaouira. A good road map and the help of "Waze," for example, and everything becomes child’s play. Or by following the Atlantic coast from Tangier to Essaouira. It all depends on how much time you plan to spend in Morocco!!

Thanks Alain,

I’ll look into all this info, and I’ll probably have even more questions later 😄.

Thanks a lot, Jean-Luc

Good evening, A guide that’s also really well done and recent... 2024/2025 edition. It offers itineraries and is packed with information.

Enjoy discovering Morocco—I’ve been going there for years.

Best regards

Thanks Cloclo, We’re planning to go to Morocco from January to March 2026. Our knowledge of the region is very limited, and we’ll be traveling in a caravan with our mountain bikes. We’re trying to gather as much information as possible to see if this region is suitable for us, given our age (retired) and our mode of transport (an 8-meter caravan). We’ve already been recommended this guide and will order it. Thanks again, Rosi and Jean-Luc
