Après pas mal d'heures de recherches, sur les différents salons et ailleurs sur internet, je sollicite votre précieuse aide.
En début d'année dernière quelques uns d'entre vous m'ont orienté vers Lisbonne pour ma demande en mariage. Et comme mademoiselle a dit oui et va devenir madame l'été prochain, nous partirons dans la foulée en voyage de noce.
C'est là que ça se complique. Vos conseils ayant fait leurs preuves pour le précédent événement et pour nos vacances estivales à Cuba (dont je peux partager quelques bonnes adresses !), je fais de nouveau appel à vous.
Nous cherchons à partir 15 jours, du 15 au 30 juillet 2014. Reste à savoir où...
Nos critères :
9/10 jours de vadrouille à la découverte d'un pays + 4/5 jours de farniente.
Nous nous déplacerons en voiture de location ou en bus.
Nous logeons volontiers dans des chambres d'hôtes, même si nous apprécierons plus de confort pour la partie farniente, voyage de noce oblige. Nous aimons composer notre voyage nous même.
Nous cherchons un compromis avec des plages de rêve, une culture assez forte, des paysages à couper le souffle, un bon dépaysement. Notre budget est d'environ 4000 euros.
Notre référence est notre voyage à Cuba l'été dernier. Une destination tellement parfaite et variée que nous avons peur d'être déçus !
Nous avons pré-ciblé quelques pays/zone, avec des réserves à chaque fois.
En Asie : Indonésie et/ou Bali, ou un morceau de la Thaïlande. Problème : on lit tout et son contraire sur le climat dans ces zones pour la deuxième quinzaine de juillet. Second problème, Bali nous semble trop "mainstream".
En Afrique : Le cap vert ? Pas notre premier coup de coeur, mais semble convenir au niveau de la météo. Peut-on s'y épanouir 15 jours et trouver des paysages de rêve ?
En Amérique ou Antilles :
Costa Rica : des doutes sur le climat, et nous aimons aussi les villes. La destination semble avant tout nature ?
République Dominicaine : Y a-t-il beaucoup d'autres choses à faire, mise à part la plage ?
Yucatan : Nous craignons la comparaison avec Cuba. Si quelqu'un a fait les deux et peut nous rassurer ou nous orienter... Dommage aussi de résumer le Mexique à cette région, mais s'aventurer ailleurs en 15 jours...
Hawaï : on nous mets en garde sur l'aspect très américain. Et tout semble très cher.
Nous avons éliminé la Polynésie, un rêve hors de portée.
Pour clarifier nos craintes météorologiques, nous n'avons rien contre la chaleur et contre un peu de pluie chaque jour, mais nous espérons voir le soleil au moins 5-6 heures par jour (et j'ai déjà passé pas mal de temps sur "quandpartir", mais cela contredit certains messages des forums, dur dur !).
En gros, nous cherchons le coup de coeur, alors n'hésitez pas, si vous en avez un à partager... Nous sommes ouverts aux découvertes (Sao Tomé et Principe ?)...

C'est une belle idée et rien que le fait de voir la baie de Rio justifierait d'aller au Brésil à mon sens ! Je vois que la formule proposée ne passe pas par Rio, mais pourquoi ne pas faire un crochet néanmoins...
Plusieurs personnes nous ont conseillé d'éviter le pays cet été à cause de la coupe du monde. Même si la compétition sera terminée quand nous partirons, on nous a alerté sur les prix.
Cela mérite quand même des vérifications de ma part, parce que c'est effectivement une destination qui nous fait rêver.
Salut, pour cuba vs yucatan.
A mon gout, tous ne peuvent être en accord. Apres avoir fait ces deux endoits, le yucatan est de tres tres loin preferable.
Si tu voulais faire une semaine de plage, le choix serait presque du pareil au meme, mais avec un leger avantage pour le yucatan ( a cause de la nourriture qui est disons assez ordinaire à cuba).
La havane est une tres belle ville et certains autres endroits sont tres beaux.
A mon gout, les sites archeologiques( chichen itza, etc), magnifiques et doivent etre vus. Les cenotes et autres attraits touristiques, sont a mon opinion, beaucoup plus interessants que ce que cuba pourrait offrir en terme d'activités autre que la plage.
Petit bemol: pour le yucatan, avant de choisir un hotel, regarde sur les differents sites parce que la qualité des plages est tres inégale.
Voici donc en résumé ce que je ferais.
Hotel a playa del carmen ou plus vers le sud ( tu sera moins loin de chichen itza par exemple que si tu as un hotel a cancun).
Tu y mangeras nettement mieux qu'à cuba.
Certaines plages bien choisies sont au moins aussi belle qu'à cuba.
La raison de choisir cuba est: belle plage, a un bon prix, MAIS nourriture ok.
Je prendrais avec un grain de sel les commentaires disant qu'a cuba c'est de la haute cuisine....
Ps: as-tu envisagé une croisiere au depart de porto rico ( pas de la floride), vraiment tres bien aussi.
Pour la republique, bonne nourriture, belles plages, MAIS, a certains endroits plus proche de haiti, certaines personnes recommandent une protection contre la malaria.
Costa rica: jamais allé mais, tres belle destination nature, moins reconnue pour les plages, quelques belles par contre.
Dans ce que tu mentionnes, autre que les caraibes, mon choix porterais sur la tanzanie et les plages de zanzibar.
Tu as un heureux probleme sur les bras, il y a tellement de choses magnifiques a voir.
Rio en juillet, NON, trop froid pour un voyage de noce
dans le nordeste c'est parfait, très chaud avec une pluie tropicale en fin d'aprèm
en plus le Brésil correspond à vos critères:bonne ambiance joyeuse, beau temps, belles plages..des gens sympa, donc un peu comparable à Cuba...et la bouffe est délicieuse.J'ai fait 4 voyages dans ce pays et cela m'a toujours fait du bien 😎
Si le Yucatan est mieux que Cuba à ton goût, alors c'est très prometteur !!
Il nous manquera sans doute la salsa dans ce cas. Nous allons y réfléchir.
La Tanzanie est une autre piste. Y es-tu allé ?Ce qui nous inquiète, c'est le côté safari. Nous aimons la nature et les animaux, mais nous ne souhaitons pas faire que ça. Et nous préférerions voyager en solo, pour le côté romantique du voyage de noce (voiture de location, ou bus si c'est préférable). Quand je lis différents sujets, j'ai un doute sur la variété du séjour... Par contre, les jolies plages de Zanzibar nous font de l'oeil !
Nous envisageons difficilement d'aller au Brésil sans passer par Rio. C'est l'un de nos grands projets, je pense que nous allons donc reporter, en gardant à l'esprit cette suggestion du Nordeste. Ca semble effectivement très attirant !
Je ne suis jamais allé en tanzanie, c'est un projet.
Sans partir pour 5-6 jours en safari, je suis certain que 2-3 jours a voir les animaux, le kilimanjaro et passer une nuit en campement en entendant les elephants au loin, c'est aussi tres romantique.
Pour cuba vs yucatan: au quebec cuba est immensement populaire, le mexique aussi mais un peu moins.
La raison principale, plage belle et bas prix.
En choisissant bien, le yucatan t'offrira d'aussi belles plages et une diversité plus grande d'activités.

En planifiant comme ca, tu auras des suggestions tres diverses.
Je te conseillerais d'etre plus précis.
Fait ressortir 5 caracteristiques que ton voyage idéal doit offrir.
Tu as raison, je suis assez vague, parce que ça l'est aussi dans mon esprit !
C'est aussi un plaisir de partager autour de suggestions assez éloignées, pour ne pas rester figés sur nos deux ou trois idées.
J'ai listé quelques priorités, mais pas assez clairement : un vrai dépaysement, des paysages inoubliables, des plages de rêves, au moins pour les quatre derniers jours, du soleil en juillet, un accueil sympathique et une atmosphère festives (pas de beuverie, mais nous aimons les soirées musicales en terrasse par exemple).
Pour préciser ce qui nous a plu à Cuba : nous avons été enchantés par les paysages de Vinales, l'atmosphère de la Havane (hormis les Jineteros), les voitures anciennes, la musique partout... Nous n'avons passé que deux jours à Varadero. C'était top aussi, mais suffisant !
Oui la route 1 entre los angeles et san francisco est un des plus belles routes en amerique du nord. Pour la baignade par contre, l'eau est tres froide au nord de L A.
Merci pour cette autre idée ! Nous ne connaissions pas du tout ce coin. Si nous allons au Mexique, nous ferons sans doute plutôt le Yucatan et peut-être une incursion au Belize.
Pour l'instant c'est cette option qui tient la corde avec l'Indonésie...
Sinon, connaissez-vous la Jamaïque ? Nous avons peur de l'effet "Cuba en moins bien"...

Nos dernières recherches nous poussent plutôt vers l'Indonésie, mais rien n'est arrêté !
En tout cas, les recherches et les échanges sont particulièrement agréables, nous avons déjà eu de plus graves problèmes à régler !

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Not sure if guidebooks, agencies, and other tour operators are keeping up by changing their visiting hours and offerings.
Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
