J'ai fait 30 jours pérou/bolivie il n'y a pas longtemps alors voilà:
je trouve un peu juste la partie machu picchu:
pour faire ollantaytambo/aguas caliente, il n'y a que le train et je crois qu'il n'y a qu'un train qui arrive le matin, mais c'est à vérifier, en tout cas je ne pense pas que tu puisses visiter ollantaytambo et être à aguas caliente le soir...tu peux donc dormir le J5 a ollan, J6 partir pour aguas caliente, J7 visite du machu picchu.
pour faire A-C/Cusco, il me semble qu'il y a 1 train/ jour vers 17h, pense à prendre tes billets bien à l'avance car c'est vite pris!
arrivé à Cusco, tu peux prend un bus de nuit pour Arequipa qui part vers 22h.
donc J7 train a-g/cusco, puis bus de nuit
J8 arrivée à Arequipa le matin.
pour le lac Titicaca:
puno est pas très interessante comme ville...mais c mes gouts! par contre tu ne peux pas rater la visite de l'ile d'amantani, que tu peux faire sur la même journée que les uros, et pourquoi pas dormir sur l'ile au lieu de dormir à puno? c'est tellement plus magique!
et enfin, je trouve domage que ne pas faire le sud lipez, qui pour moi est mon meilleur passage bolivien! le desert est innoubliable! tu devrai te pencher sur la question et essayer de le faire! tu ne seras pas déçu je pense!
en tout ca je te souhaite un bon voyage, pour nous ça aura été un des meilleurs!

Je vais me pencher sur ta proposition pour la vallée des Incas, effectivement j'avais aussi un petit doute sur J5 et c'est peut-être la meilleure solution. Surtout que je n'ai plus mon jour de plus que je vais finalement utiliser pour le trajet de retour en avion :(
Ce qui me pose un problème, je voulais l'utiliser pour ajouter 1 jour au Salar (3j au lieu de 2j), mais ce n'est plus possible. Or je crois qu'il n'y a pas d'excursion de 2 jours... C'est soit 1 jour au Salar uniquement, soit 3 ou 4 jours en descendant dans le Sud Lipez...
Il faut que je retravaille ca encore ce soir, je dois confirmer les vols rapidement avant que les prix augmentent
Apparemment d'après le site de perurail il y a des trains du matin au soir. Un collègue était parti en fin de journée aussi. J'ai l'impression que c'est bon. Reste que ca laisse qu'une petite journée pour visiter les sites d'Ollantaytambo...
ok pour les trains, ce qui est sur c qu'il y a qu'1 train allé cusco/a-G et un retour a-g/cusco, mais il me semblait bien que pour ollantaytambo il y en avait plusieurs...
pour ce qui est du salar, il existe des excursions de 2 jours avec la nuit dans un hotel de sel, tu trouveras ça sur place, mais encore une fois réfléchi bien pour le 3ème jour au sud lipez, franchement quitte à abandonner la isla del sol ou les 2 jours à puno ou encore les mines de potosi, préfère de loins le sud lipez à tout ça! tu en aura plein les yeux!

ton parcours me semble bien. j'ai préféré la Paz à Lima, mais en même temps, je ne suis pas très "grande ville"...les deux villes sont insuportablement polluée! par contre mes villes que j'ai adoré sont Arequipa (ne rate pas le couvent!) et cusco.
super pour le sud lipez!
si tu veux gagner une journée, tu pourras toujours prendre un bus de nuit entre cusco et arequipa;
J'arrive directement sur la seconde version à mon avis très bien vue grâce aux commentaires justifiés sur le Salar. J'aurais moi aussi privilégié Lima si j'avais eu à choisir, surtout si vos centres d'intérêts sont culturels plutôt que politiques (sinon l'inverse!).
Quelques suggestions d'hôtels fondées sur ce que j'ai vécu:
- Cusco sans aucun doute l'hôtel los Marqueses http://www.hotelmarqueses.com/, pour le cadre et toutes les prestations. Pour une grande expérience de gastronomie péruvienne, Tupananchis http://www.tupananchis.com/ . J'ai déjà recommandé ces adresses mais elles ont contribué grandement à marquer mon séjour de 6 jours à Cusco et la région.
- Sucre, le Grand Hotel sur Calle Arce, au bord de la Plaza de Mayo.
- Potosi l'hôtel Colosso, différent des adresses précédentes parce que haut de gamme et plus cher, mais bon rapport qualité prix.
- Lima, le Clifford hôtel sur une petite place tranquille, un peu éloigné du centre, mais une bonne marche par le parc pour le rejoindre et un hôtel plein de charme et bien tenu. http://www.thecliffordhotel.com.pe/
- Pour Uyuni une remarque particulière compte tenu de votre arrivée matinale, j'étais descendu dans l'hôtel Jardines de Uyuni où j'étais arrivé à 3h du matin et où j'avais pu prendre ma chambre sans supplément, comme si je l'avais prise à midi, c'est à dire sans payer cette première nuit courte. C'est à mon goût l'hôtel le plus charmant de la ville, là aussi un peu à l'écart du vrai centre, mais Uyuni est une petite ville et rien n'est loin. Pour le tour Sud Lipez, j'ai été très satisfait de Blue Line.
D'autres infos avec plaisir si je peux, et excellent voyage pour ce projet bien sympa.

Ce qu'on aime dans une ville avant tout c'est se balader pour contempler l'architecture (monuments, habitations, centre historique) et pour voir la vie locale typique et authentique. On aime bien sûr se sentir dépaysé.
Merci d'avoir partager ton expérience sur les hôtels, on doit justement se décider bientôt car on veut les réserver à l'avance. Ceux que tu proposes ont l'air sympa et je pense que ca correspond à ce qu'on cherche, on va regarder ca de plus prêt pour faire notre choix.
- > Pour le retour sur Cusco : descends du train à Poroy et fini en bus ou taxi. Ça sera genre 20 min max, alors que le train mettra 1h.

Sur le reste, j'ai pas trop de remarque. Je me permets, si ça t'intéresse, de te renvoyer vers mon carnet de bord/pratique (pour l'heure inachevé) sur notre voyage Chili/Bolivie/Pérou de l'été dernier (lien en signature de message). Peut-être y trouveras-tu des infos, des renseignements (hôtel etc) intéressants.
1. Pour une question d'acclimatation à l'altitude, je commencerais par un vol sur Arequipa, avant de continuer sur Cusco, puis de poursuivre la montée vers Puno. D'autant que même si la route Arequipa -> Puno présente de beaux paysages, je garde un meilleur souvenir du trajet Cusco -> Puno, d'autant qu'il y a des sites à visiter en chemin, comme Andahuyalillas, Raqchi, Pucara. Des compagnies comme Inka Express proposent une prestation d'1 journée intégrant transport et visites guidées.
2. Pour visiter la Vallée Sacrée et Machu Picchu, à le refaire, je procèderais comme suit, après une première journée D1 de "repos" à Cusco (visite des principaux sites, incluant ou non Sacsayhuaman).
D2 : départ tôt en autocar pour Chinchero, visite, continuation en taxi sur Moray, Salinas de Maras. De là descendre à pied vers la Vallée Sacrée au niveau de Tarabamba, franchir l'Urubamba, et rejoindre la route principale. Prendre un minibus ou autocar pour Ollantaytambo. Visite du principal site, départ par le train du soir pour Aguas Calientes.
D3 : visite de Machu Picchu toute la journée, train de fin d'après-midi pour Ollantaytambo, et y coucher.
D4 : Ollantaytambo en début de matinée pour un éclairage différent et éventuelles visites complémentaires des qolqas (greniers), autocar pour Pisaq (avec changement à Urubamba), visite du site inca, éventuellement marché. Autocar pour Cusco, en se faisant déposer à Tambomachay/Puca Pucara. Interception d'un autocar/minibus et dépose à Qenqo. De là, rejoindre Cusco, avec éventuel arrêt à Sacsayhuaman si non visité en D1. Selon l'horaire (donc temps passé à Ollantaytambo et Pisaq), envisager de sacrifier Qenqo, voire Puca Pucara, dont l'intérêt est moindre que les sites précédents.
Ainsi, vous aurez plus de temps pour Machu Picchu et une vue plus complète des autres sites de la Vallée Sacrée. Dans le même nombre de jours.
3. Puno en soit ne mérite pas la visite, mais si vous avezun créneau de 2-3 h, je vous recommande le site de Sillustani, plus pour son cadre naturel que pour les quelques chullpas (temples funéraires).
4. Si vous partez tôt de Puno, vous arriverez à Copacabana avant 13h00, et pourrez donc prendre la navette de l'après-midi pour l'Isla del Sol. Et ainsi, vous pourrez y coucher. Un peu dans le genre de l'Ile d'Amantani près de Puno, mais le cadre est incomparable avec la vue sur la Cordillère Royale. Ainsi, vous revenez le lendemain après-midi à Copacabana (pas grand chose à voir), d'où vous pouvez filer directement sur La Paz. Gain d'1 jour sur votre calendrier, précieux pour aborder le Lipez !
5. A titre de sécurité pour votre vol de retour, je suggère de voir la région d'Uyuni (Salar + Lipez) AVANT Potosi, car les blocages de route ne sont pas rares en Bolivie. Même parfois autour de La Paz. Mais au moins, Uyuni est plus proche de La Paz.

We're planning a trip to southern Chile in November. Here's our tentative itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Santiago, then a flight the next day to Balmaceda where we'll pick up a rental car to reach Coyhaique.
Day 3: Walk in the Coyhaique National Reserve, then continue to Puerto Chacabuco. Return to Coyhaique for the second night.
Day 4: Drive to Villa Cerro Castillo for a hike in the national park. Continue to Puerto Tranquilo and stay there for 3 nights.
Day 5: Boat tour on Laguna San Rafael.
Day 6: Day trip to Monte San Valentin Glacier.
Day 7: Excursion to the Marble Chapels, then drive to Puerto Guadal. We'll stay there for 3 nights.
Day 8: Walk along Lago Carrera and return to Puerto Guadal.
Day 9: Rio Baker Valley and, if possible, a glacier excursion.
Day 10: Drive to Cochrane and hike in Tamango National Reserve. We'll stay 2 nights in Cochrane.
Day 11: Walk in the Chacabuco Valley.
Day 12: Drive to Caleta Tortel. We'll stay there for 2 nights.
Day 13: Cruise in the Rio Baker delta.
Day 14: Return to Cochrane.
Day 15: Return to Balmaceda in two stages.
Day 16: Continue the return journey.
Day 17: Return the rental car and head back to Santiago.
After this, we're also planning to explore northern Santiago. I'll post about that part once I have a clearer idea of the route.
What do you think of this itinerary? Is it doable in 17 days?

01/12: Gold Museum (closed on Mondays). Drive to Zipaquirá (1.5 hrs) to visit the Salt Cathedral. Then drive to Villa de Leyva (3 hrs). Explore the town. Overnight in Villa de Leyva.
02/12: Return to Bogotá via Laguna de Guatavita (5 hrs). Is it worth the detour? Overnight in Bogotá.
03/12: Flight to Pereira. Drive to Salento. Overnight in Salento.
04/12: Cocora Valley (hike among the wax palms) followed by a drive around the area. Are there any waterfalls or other sights nearby?
05/12: Visit a coffee finca—any recommendations? Then explore the surroundings: Filandia, Manizales, waterfalls? Hot springs? Which ones?

07/12: Exploring Medellín: Centro, Plaza Botero, Comuna 13. How do you visit Comuna 13? Is it easy to get around Medellín? Metro? Buses?

I’ve sketched out a rough itinerary but I’m not sure how to arrange it—considering the climate, year-end holidays, and Carnival.
Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina),
Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit.
Is this doable in 3 months?

After lots of research and quotes, it’s the only one offering Uyuni at a reasonable price while meeting all the criteria: transfer to the border, private-room accommodation, and a very fair rate. Hi everyone, French travelers in Chile—what credit cards do you use for your various car rentals in the country? I’m traveling in September and was planning to switch my regular debit card (a VISA PREMIER in deferred debit mode) for the deposit guarantee.
My rentals are with Figal in Punta Arenas, Econautos in Arica, and Chilean Rent a Car in Temuco, and all of them want the deposit on a credit card. For me, deferred debit *should* work, but I’ve read comments saying the opposite.
How’s it actually working on the ground with these rental companies right now? Will a deferred debit card work, or not at all?

I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca.
From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?
Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule?
After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?
The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!
I just got back from a trip to Bolivia and wow—what a wake-up call. It’s not the easiest country, but it’s absolutely stunning.
I started with Isla del Sol, perfect for easing into the altitude at a relaxed pace. Try to stay in the northern part of the island—it’s quieter and the views are insane. And the trout there? Unreal. Quick tip: bring cash in small bills; they almost never have change, and cards are rarely accepted.
Next up, La Paz. The city’s pretty wild, built in every direction. I did a few hikes in the area, including the famous Charquini Lagoon (the blue lake) at over 5,000 m—let’s just say I struggled 😅 but it was so beautiful it was totally worth it.
After that, I headed to Sajama. It’s cool, especially for the hot springs, and I stayed in Tomarapi. But honestly, if you’re short on time, you can skip it without too many regrets.
The highlight of the trip: the Salar. I did it starting from Tupiza, and I *highly* recommend going Tupiza → Uyuni. Way less crowded at the start and the landscapes are super varied. For the tour, I used SplitYourGuide to find a group, and it worked out great. Super handy for splitting costs and meeting people.
I wrapped up in Sucre—this city is gorgeous, all white, with such a chill vibe. And the salteñas + ice cream? Next level 😋
Bottom line: Bolivia’s a bit rough around the edges, sometimes exhausting (shoutout to the altitude), but it’s 1000% worth it.

I was planning to go to Réunion and stay in half-board accommodation with non-professionals, but it seems that’s not really the custom there—or maybe my budget isn’t big enough.
So, since I’ve already traveled around Ecuador and Peru, I’m now looking at Argentina, especially for its mountains (like the ones in Réunion that tempted me, even though—frustratingly—I could only admire them from below).
I plan to get around by bus and don’t know in advance where I’ll sleep, so I won’t book ahead. If I like a place, I might stay for several days.
I know that in Chile, it’s easy to find half-board accommodation, but what about in Argentina?
I’d like to stay with locals in half-board without it being a professional setup. I’m not sure if this is common practice there. It’s up to me to find someone willing to host me.
What do you think?
What would be a fair price (keeping in mind that 40 to 50 € is the max I can spend on accommodation, breakfast, and dinner)?

We’re heading to Patagonia for three weeks in November, starting from Coyhaique in Chile.
We won’t have a car, and I’m struggling to find information about transportation options for a few parts of the itinerary we’d like to do:
1) From Perito Moreno (the town, near Los Antiguos), we’d like to travel down Ruta 40 to visit Perito Moreno National Park and then cross into Chile via the Paso Roballos (at the latitude of Bajo Caracoles) to reach the road to Cochrane. Without a car, it seems we’ll need to use private agencies to get to the national park—do you have any recommendations or suggestions? Also, does anyone know if it’s possible to cross into Chile via Paso Roballos (from Bajo Caracoles) without a rental car? That is, without having to go all the way down to El Chaltén or back up toward Perito Moreno/Los Antiguos, etc.?
2) The second stretch that seems a bit tricky (though still easier, in theory) is from Caleta Tortel to Villa O’Higgins on the Chilean side. Do we have to go back through Cochrane, or are there ways to get directly from Tortel to Villa O’Higgins?
3) Finally, we’d like to hike into Argentina (El Chaltén) from O’Higgins. Any recommendations for this? Do we need to go through an agency? What’s the estimated duration of the trek?
As you’ve probably gathered, we want to visit some off-the-beaten-path spots but don’t have a car, so we’re looking for the best possible compromises.

we’re planning a round trip from San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, to Salta, Argentina, in two months. On the way there, we’ll take the northern route via Susques, Route 27, then 52. But for the return, we were thinking of taking the southern route via San Antonio de los Cobres, Route 51, then 23. Is it similar to the northern route in terms of road surface? How busy is it, and are there gas stations? Basically, should we be worried about doing it in an SUV that’s supposedly 4x4 but has regular road tires and no second spare wheel, obviously...
I’ve seen that we can stop over in San Antonio de los Cobres.

we’ll be in Calama at the end of March 2026, and I’m looking for a reliable car rental there for a 7-day road trip to Salta, Argentina. But I’m struggling with the car rental agencies in Calama because the reviews can be scary. I saw Gyg, which has great ratings, but I’m a bit wary (5/5 from 59 reviews—either the guy’s amazing or it’s fake...), but I can’t find any recent reviews on VF in general.
For Punta Arenas, I booked with Dachelet and didn’t have any issues with email exchanges.

Three years ago during a trip to Java (no, I didn’t post in the wrong forum!), I came across the address of former miners who had switched to “tourism” and organized nighttime ascents of the Kawah Ijen volcano and descents into the crater.
