1. D’abord, que pensez-vous de cet itinéraire globalement (parties infaisables vu le temps imparti, destinations à zapper au profit d'autres, ...) ?

2. Nous hésitons à aller au lac Titicaca. Si nous enlevons cette partie, nous aurions un peu plus de temps soit vers Arequipa au début (avec les Salinas de Agua Caliente, par ex.), soit pour rajouter Vinicunca (Rainbow Moutain) et la Vallée rouge, soit pour prolonger la jungle à la fin (nous sommes très nature et n’avons jamais fait la jungle amazonienne, nous y tenons J)... Qu’en pensez-vous ?

3. Conseilleriez-vous la forêt vers Puerto Maldonado ou vers Iquitos ?

Hi there, I’m desperately looking for info on the schedules and routes of (shared) boats to visit the islands of Lake Titicaca. From what I’ve found, there’s a *combi* (bus) that leaves from Puno to go to Llachon. Where do you catch it? What are the schedules and frequency? Does it take about 1 hour?

Then in Llachon, you can take a boat to Amantani (45 min). Same question—where do you check for frequency and schedule? After that, from Amantani, boats go to Taquile and then Uros. Do you have enough time to visit the islands between two boats? Frequency and schedule?

The goal is to do this tour independently (no agency) over 2 days. Thanks for any tips you might have!

We’re just back from a 2-week tour of the Northeast; we booked our flight tickets ourselves and landed in Fortaleza. From there, we used an agency to handle our circuit all the way to São Luís. It was an incredible adventure—flawless organization, no hiccups, and landscapes that felt like another planet. We rarely use agencies, but we don’t regret it at all. Given all the 4x4s, buggies, and boats we took, it would’ve been impossible to do it on our own, at least for the full route we covered. I’d love to hear about the must-see spots in Manaus besides the theater and the Amazon Museum. After that, I’d like to take a boat trip on the Amazon or the Rio Negro to escape the city and find some peace for a 3- or 4-day trek in the forest. I also saw that the town of Presidente Figueiredo is worth visiting for all the waterfalls nearby. If you’ve been to Manaus and have any recommendations, I’d love to hear them. Nous sommes allés cet été avec ma femme et ma fille de 18 mois parcourir l'ouest canadien pour 3 semaines, et je commence déjà à penser à notre futur voyage. Nous sommes déjà allés (sans la petite toutefois) en Islande, Guadeloupe, Slovénie, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Croatie, Sicile... Cependant, j'ai quelques questions : - Equateur, Pérou ou Chili : est-ce possible avec un jeune enfant de 18 mois ? Notamment à cause de l'altitude et le côté sanitaire. - Peut-on combiner sur 3 semaines, Equateur/Galapagos - Pérou/Bolivie - Chili (autre)/Patagonie ? - Quelle est la meilleure période pour chacun ? - En budget, combien faut-il prévoir par jour (nourriture et logement avec 2 chambres) ? - Pour les billets d'avion, combien ça coûte par personne aller/retour pour les meilleures périodes ? - Outre la rando (nous avons l'habitude de randonner, comme en Islande, dans les Rocheuses canadiennes, le Stromboli, bivouac dans les Pyréenées...), quelles sont les activités que nous pourrions faire avec des enfants en bas âge ? - Enfin, est-il possible d'envisager ces pays sans pour autant changer de lieu d'hébergement tous les jours (pas comme en Islande, et avec des enfants, c'est plus compliqué) ?

Savez vous s'il est nécessaire de réserver le bateau à l'avance, notre voyage se déroulant au mois de février 2020 au moment du carnaval ? Nous pensons louer une voiture pour aller jusqu'à Conceicao de jacarei, laisser la voiture dans un parking et prendre un bateau pour ilha grande. Nous reprendrons le véhicule après pour aller sur Paraty. Ilha Grande du 19 au 22/02. Faut il réserver le parking, le bateau voire les deux en même et avez vous des compagnies de bateau à conseiller ?

We’ll be renting a car and plan to make 2 or 3 stops, but we prefer exploring on foot or by boat once we’re there. On va aller dans la Selva avec ma copine, on pensait prendre le bateau depuis Yurimaguas jusqu'à Lagunas et ensuite trouver un guide pour aller dans la selva, on pensait faire un tour de 5 a 6 jours environ. Seulement voilà, j'entends beaucoup de gens dire que cela coute environ 100 soles par personnes et par jour, et cela me semble extrêmement cher pour le Pérou et totalement hors budget. Je voulais savoir si c'est possible de trouver pour moins cher que cela, ou s'il existe d'autre excursion, par exemple hors de la Reserve Pacaya Samiria, afin de ne pas avoir a payer le droit d'entrée. Basically, I’m thinking of the Amazon, the Northeast coast with Lençóis Maranhenses National Park (but skipping Chapada Diamantina), Ouro Preto, Paraty, and Ilha Grande—but no Rio visit. Is this doable in 3 months? Which direction should I take for this itinerary? Thanks in advance!

A few friends and I are planning to explore the northern shore of Lake Titicaca, making stops using local buses or collectivos. The route starts in Huancane, passes through places like Moho and Conima (on the Peruvian side), then crosses the border and continues into Bolivia via spots like Escoma, Ancoraines, Achacachi, and Huarina. I can’t find any info on transportation between these towns. It also seems there are no listed hotels or other types of accommodations.

Personally, I’ve already visited several places on the southern shore of the lake.

Questions: Is this less touristy route along the northern shore—compared to the southern route via Unguyo and Copacabana—worth it? Are there buses that cover the northern shore in both Peru and Bolivia? What accommodations do you know of along this route? Alternatively, is it possible to rent a car in Puno to circle the entire lake, and which reliable agencies would you recommend? Thanks for your suggestions! 😉

Hi there, We’re spending 3 weeks in Brazil, arriving in São Paulo—a couple plus a teen—and we’ll have a rental car. We especially love nature: hiking, wildlife watching, birds, etc. We’re planning to wrap up with a week around Paraty and Ilha Grande. We’re not really into visiting big cities like São Paulo or Rio unless you think we’d be missing out big time.

So we’ve got 2 weeks to explore the south/southwest region of São Paulo. What do you recommend? National parks? Off-the-beaten-path nature spots? Iguazu Falls?

Originally, we were thinking of heading down to Paraty / Ilha Grande... but after checking, the water temperature seems a bit too cool, so we’d prefer to go to Bahia state for a bit more warmth. I’m heading to Morro de São Paulo in the first half of September.

I’ll spend a day in Bahia and then take the fast ferry to Morro from the Terminal Turístico Náutico. I’ve heard this ferry can be canceled depending on sea conditions. Locals from Bahia, can you tell me if cancellations are common in early September or if it’s usually not a big deal?

After Morro, I’ll spend a few days in Boipeba.

My question is about the return trip to Bahia to catch my flight home.

Is it better to go back through Morro to take the ferry in the opposite direction, or can I leave directly from Boipeba to Bahia?

I want to avoid long trips and bus rides.

If there’s no way around a road trip, I could take a taxi, Uber, or something similar.

Next April, I’m planning a trip (the 1st) to Brazil. I’ll have 12 days there (not counting the 13th day for the return). I’ll arrive on 22/04 in the early evening in Rio de Janeiro. The return flight is from São Paulo on 04/05 in the afternoon. I know 12 days is very little for such a big country, which is why I’ll focus on a relatively small area: the southeast (though "small" is relative!). I’ve started mapping out the main stops for my trip, which would be: - Rio de Janeiro: 4 to 5 days? - Ilha Grande and maybe Paraty: 2 to 3 days - Iguazu Falls: Brazilian and Argentinian sides: 2 days - São Paulo: 1 to 2 days

What do you think? Is this reasonable? There are about 250/260 km between Rio and Paraty. I’d like to make the trip by rental car. What do you think? A car is definitely much more practical and faster than the bus. 12/13 days is short—I can’t afford to lose too much time in transit. To get to Ilha Grande, I understand there’s a ferry that shuttles between the mainland and the island. From which city can you take the ferry? Mangaratiba? Conceição de Jacareí? Angra dos Reis? If I arrive by rental car, where can I park it? I think cars are banned on the island, right? That’s where I’m at with my planning. J'ai bien conscience que ce post ressemblera a 150 autres plus anciens...désolé par avance :) Je pars en couple en mars prochain pour 15 jours pleins au Pérou.

Grace au forum j'ai déjà pu ébaucher un planning de visite : J1 : Arrivée Lima de nuit J2 : Repos/visite Lima J3 : Trajet Lima-Paracas J4 : Islas Ballestas, Laguna de Huacachina, trajet Nazca J5 : Vol Nazca, visite du coin, bus de nuit pur Arequipa J6 : Arequipa J7 et J8 : Trek 2j 1 nuit dans le canyon de Colca J9 : Trajet jusque Cusco J10 : Visite Cusco J11 : Saqsayaman et autre visite dans le coin J12 : Vallée de l'Inca J13-14-15-16 : Trek de l'Inca et Macchu Pichu J17 : retour de Cusco par avion; J18 : Journée a Lima, Avion retour qui décolle après minuit

Je me demande déjà si ce planning est réaliste, notamment sur les J4, J7-8 . S'il l'est, auriez vous malgré tout une idée d'un immanquable que j'aurais oublié? (précision : la foret tropicale ne m'interesse pas ayant déjà visité par le passé, et j'ai également vu le lac Titicaca l'an passé durant mon séjour de 15j en Bolivie). S'il ne l'est pas, et qu'il faut bypasser 1 voire 2 jours, que supprimer?

Le canyon de Colca est-il immanquable? Y faire un trek n'est il pas redondant avec le trek de l'Inca? Meme question pour le trek de l'Inca du coup, vu que ca prend 4 jours et que ca plombe une grosse partie du budget (j'ai lu 500€ le trek oO), le feriez vous? Ou feriez vous autrement ?

Et enfin, si mon planning se révélait par magie laaarge, par quoi pourrais-je le compléter? (on peut toujours rêver)
