Pouvez-vous nous dire si cela vous semble envisageable ? Surtout au niveau des transports, nous avons lus pas mal de discussion sur les difficultés des transports en Indonésie. Après, nous ne programmons pas les hôtels, transports en avance pour se laisser une marge de liberté dans notre parcours une fois sur place. Bonjour à tous. Étant en préparation pour mon prochain séjour d'un mois en janvier prochain, 3 destinations m'attirent, mais j'hésite dans mon choix. Pour ceux qui ont fait les 3 destinations, quel sont les avantages et différences? Ce que je recherche c'est 1-le cout sur place (pension oblige),2- la sécurité 3- la gentillesse des gens et la richesse culturelle. Je voyage sac à dos, en louant scooter ou transport en commun, et ne recherche pas le party mais bien la tranquilité et le quotidien des gens, de belles plages et paysages grandioses. Voici ou j'en suis dans mes réflections: Indonésie et Phillipines= trop grand pour un mois (donc encore plus indécis sur l'itinéraire) Le Sri Lanka me rebute pour une seule raison , l'hygiène (mes craintes sont-elles fondées?). Par contre il semble facile de s'y déplacer et d'en faire le tour en un mois. Bref, après avoir consulter différents forum et m'etre procurer les guides de chaque destination mentionnée, le ressenti de personne y ayant séjourné ou qui y vivent m'éclairerais peut-etre. I’ve been wrestling with this question for weeks now: Flores or Sulawesi?

I’m leaving in July for 24 days, followed by 2 weeks around Makassar/Wakatobi for work. For the first part, I’m traveling with my family (my partner + 3 kids aged 6 to 14).

I’ve had a long-time dream of Komodo, but I’m worried it’s become super touristy... though the crossing to Maumere still sounds amazing. I’m also not thrilled about all the internal flights.

On the other hand, since I’ll be in Sulawesi anyway, I’m thinking a crossing from Gorontalo to Luwuk via the Togians (maybe even a few days in Banggai) + a detour to Toraja (which I visited 10 years ago) could be an incredible trip too.

For my family, this is their first trip to Indonesia, so I’d love it to feel *mythic* ;).

Any advice is welcome—I’m really struggling to decide! I know it’s a choice between two great options...

Bonjour, Nous projetons d'aller a Bali au mois de Mars qui apparemment n'est pas le meilleur au niveau du climat , mais bon..... Je n'ai pas envie de changer de lieu tous les jour et on aime bien prendre notre temps . On pense rester 5 jours sur Ubud par exemple. On aimerai bien faire aussi Gili pour faire du snorkeling et mettre les doigts de pied en éventail . Pouvez vos me conseiller un circuit a faire . Summer seems to be the best time weather-wise for Bali. And since summer’s when we can take a long trip, let’s go for Bali... even though we know it’ll be *packed* with people! So we’ll steer clear of the island’s south...

Our current plan (19 days on the ground, 7 stops): - 4 Nights (3 days) in Ubud 2 days for rice terraces / activities (Tegallalang, Campuhan Ridge, Monkey Forest, Bird Park, coffee plantation, market (?), dance "pestacle," cooking class and/or spa) 1 day with a driver for the Temples (Pura Gunung Kawi, Tirta Empul Spring, Pura Mengening, Goa Gajah...) - 2 nights in Sidemen (1 day for Pura Kehen + Batur Caldera + Pura Besakih and 1 day to relax in the rice terraces) - 3 nights on Gili Meno (Rest and beaches) from Padangbai - 2 nights in Amed (1 day from Padangbai with the Abang rice terrace and Tirta Gangga baths, and the next day a boat tour in Amed) - 4 nights in Pemuteran (1 day for transfer and rest, 1 day to visit Kawah Ijen, and 2 days of snorkeling at Menjangan Island) - 2 nights in Munduk (1 day with the Dayang rice terrace and the 3-waterfall hike, 1 day at Pura Ulun Danu Bratan) - 2 nights in Jatiluwih (1 day in the rice terraces, and on the last day, we’ll stop by Pura Taman Ayun in Mengwi and Pura Tanah Lot before catching our red-eye flight).

Accommodations in homestays or hotels. Transportation to be arranged on-site with the lodgings (?) Boat to Gili Meno to book in advance (?) Kawah Ijen excursion to plan ahead (?)—check with the homestay (?)

My teenage daughter and I are heading to Sulawesi in July-August for 5 weeks. We don’t know Indonesia at all—this will be our first time. When we travel, we’re not used to booking accommodations in advance because we love improvising based on our mood and what comes up in the moment... For Sulawesi, though, from what I’ve read, I’m a little worried we might get stuck here and there, especially in more touristy spots, if we leave everything open... Pour ceux qui ne sont pas au courant, organiser son séjour aux raja Ampat en indépendant est devenu tout bonnement impossible depuis quelques semaines!

En effet le site phare qui donnait toutes les infos et les contacts des différentes Guest house du coin (Stayrajaampat.com) vient d'anonymiser les contacts des proprios et se transformer tout bonnement en une plateforme de réservation!

Ils motivent leur décision en évoquant le bien être des locaux et leur désarroi devant les réservation non honorées par les voyageurs : Grosso mode, le voyageur choisissait une guest house, appelait ou envoyait un sms au proprio pour reserver mais des fois ne se présentait pas, donc perte sèche pour la Guest house! Maintenant en passant par la plateforme de résa, on choisit, on reserve et on paie direct dans la foulée avec bine entendu une commission versée a Stay raja Ampat!!

certes ce site a ete une bouffée d'oxygene pour les voyageurs voulant se rendre dans le coin et eventuellement pour le différents locaux qui se sont lancées dans le tourism mais en grattant un peu (forum anglophone) il s'avere que c'est une site detenu exclusivement par des occidentaux basés a Bali et Singapour!!

Ce changement sonne definitivement le glas pour les voyageurs indépendants et surtout pour les guest houses lointaines type Manyaifun, Selpele ou encore Gam ouest qui intéressaient presqu exclusivement ce genre de voyageur qui ne reserve pas..au contraire des visiteurs qui viennent aux raja Ampat pour une semaine ou dix jours sans visiter le reste du pays (comme cela se faisait avant) et qussi au profit des GH les plus populaires sur KRI ou sud de GAM qui sont deja bien installés et souvent la propriete des elites locales, donc pas besoin de revenus touristiques!

Les raja Apat se transforment doucement en une destination de luxe apres une petite fenetre democratique: les frais du permis, le transport jusqu a Sorong puis les transferts vers les GH puis encore le cout sur place augmente de la nouvelle commission du site et enfin les prix des activités....ca fait bcp!

Juste pour info et aussi pour exprimer un peu mon desaccord ....il reste cependant des milliers d 'autres iles dans le pays qui valent autant ou mieux et ou on peut vivre une experience totale a moindre frais

Is it possible to book tickets directly on Indonesian airline websites (I get the feeling that when connecting from France, access is blocked...)

Also, are there direct flights from Maumere or Ende back to Jakarta for the return trip, or do I have to go back through Labuan Bajo?

J'ai repéré des hotels, et imaginé un itinéraire. J'ai l'habitude d'organiser des voyages en Europe en m'occupant de réserver vol, hotel, location de vehicules, excursions etc moi meme. Cela me pose plus de problèmes pour des destinations plus lointaines, d'autant plus lorsqu'on voyage avec un enfant. J'aurai aimé avoir vos avis 7 commentaires sur l'itinéraire :

Arrivée Bali Transfert à Ubud et 5 nuits sur place. Location de voiture avec chauffeur ou guide pour excursions depuis Ubud Ensuite, deux nuits à Munduk Je pensais aller ensuite 3 nuits sur Gili Air avant de redescendre au sud de Lombok pour une fin de séjour plus tranquille à Lombok Kuta (4 nuits) Retour sur Bali, pour une nuit avant retour.

Est ce que cet itinéraire vous parait possible ? J'ai prévu de faire pas mal de chose depuis Ubud qui est central pour ne pas multiplier les hébergements.

My mom and I are heading to Indonesia on July 11, 2025, for a month. We’ll spend 15 days in Borneo (Kalimantan) and 15 days in Sulawesi. We’re traveling with backpacks and really want to meet locals and experience their culture. We have a layover in Singapore before flying to Borneo, but we’re not sure yet which part of the island we’d like to land in.

I’m looking for the most up-to-date info possible because our research results are pretty confusing. Initially, we wanted to focus on the Indonesian side of the island, but we’re finding way more info on the Malaysian side (better tourist infrastructure). We’re feeling a bit lost...

Our priority is a 4-5 day trek max. We also want to connect with an English-speaking guide to explore Borneo’s primary forest and its wildlife. Ideally, we’d like to venture into the island’s center. But we might not have the time (given the lack of infrastructure and long distances—we don’t have 15 days just for a trek) or the physical stamina to get there. Still, we’d love to get off the beaten path and avoid pricey, touristy excursions. From our research, we’ve come across 3-day, 2-night trips on longboats or 4x4s (e.g., orangutans in Tanjung Puting) for 400 to 500 €. But that’s way out of our budget, and we think it’s too expensive. We get that as tourists with higher incomes than locals, we should pay more—but there’s a limit, especially compared to the cost of living in Indonesia. We want to avoid tour operators and crowds of tourists. Our goal is to see what’s left of Borneo’s preserved and wild tropical forest and observe animals in their natural habitat. If we don’t see any during a trek, oh well—we’ll take our chances.

On the Malaysian side, there’s Danum Valley, and on the Indonesian side, places like Gunung Palung, Betung Kerihun, and Kayan Mentarang...

She knows UBUD is very touristy but plans to stay there and take day trips from there. Her main question: is it worth going to Flores just for Komodo? Agencies apparently offer mini-cruises for 2-3 days... Type of trip: 2 adults, no kids. They like taking their time and don’t want to rush. I think they don’t mind touristy spots but still hope to find some authenticity. Thanks for your thoughts!

Since our English is pretty limited, we’d like to hire a French-speaking driver or guide to accompany us on certain days and show us around the island, picking us up directly from our various hotels.

That said, I imagine this kind of service is probably more expensive than taking a local taxi, right?

Also, which Uber-like app should we use there? And for bookings, which website should we look for accommodations on?

en essayant de sélectionner notre hébergement je me perds complètement. et je me disais que des expériences récentes pourraient sans doute m'aider. entre Sera Beach, Sandy Bay, Malenge Indah, Lestari (j'ai lu que ce dernier venait de changer de propriétaire est-ce exact?)... sur ces endroits je lis un peu tout et son contraire alors pas évident de me faire une idée... par ailleurs je me demande quels pourraient être les avantages et inconvénients d'être plutôt au nord ou au sud...? proche ou loin du petit village... et d'ailleurs est-ce qu'on peut relier à pied Pulau Papan depuis Sandy, Sera etc?

Bonjour, Nous aurions besoin de conseils avisés pour l'organisation d'un voyage de 4 semaines en Indonésie ; nous avions prévu de partir grosso modo de mi-mai à mi-juin, pour bénéficier d'un climat favorable, sans être en haute saison (nos billets du vol international ne sont pas encore achetés). Or il se trouve que le ramadan cette année se termine le 23 mai d'où de gros doutes sur la façon de planifier au mieux ce voyage : commencer par Bali terminer par Yogyakarta ???

Nous avons visité plusieurs pays d'Asie mais il agirait de notre premier voyage en Indonésie ; aussi nous voudrions découvrir un maximum (mais pas à un rythme effréné). Le pays étant si vaste, nous sommes un peu perdus dans les choix qu'il nous faut faire. Nos priorités serait : Bali, Sulawesi (surtout pour le pays des Toraja), Florès. Komodo car nous aimerions voir des dragons de Komodo (si possible sans faire une croisière de plusieurs jours car nous avons lu que le logement sur ces bateaux était vraiment sommaire ou alors très coûteux) mt Bromo... et les sites autour de Yogyakarta.

Petites précisions : nous sommes un couple de seniors habitués à voyager en indépendants, mais de façon confortable, aimant autant les sites culturels que la nature. Seul mon mari pratique un peu de snorkeling.

Je rêve depuis petite d'observer les orang-outans dans leur milieu naturel. Entre Sumatra et Kalimantan, la seconde destination plairait davantage à mon conjoint et moi-même. Je débute à peine mes recherches, et je me rends compte que :

1°) ce n'est pas simple d'accéder à cette région de Bornéo, le trajet sera long depuis la France, et son cout élevé (sachant que nous partirions sur 16 jours),

2°) il n'y a pas beaucoup d'informations sur internet, pour faire un itinéraire, ou concernant les transports par exemple.

Du coup, pensez-vous que nous pourrons bien profiter en si peu de temps, ou pensez-vous qu'il faudrait plutot s'orienter sur Sumatra ? Qu'en est-il des transports sur place ? Avez-vous une idée de ce qu'il serait possible de faire en 14 jours sur place ? Serait-il possible, par exemple, de faire le parc national de Tanjung Puting, mais aussi d'aller jusqu'à Derawan par exemple ? Je n'ai pas du tout conscience des temps de trajet.

Nous n'avons pas l'habitude de passer par une agence de voyage : est-ce nécessaire pour cette destination ? Ou alors, faut-il prendre un guide sur place pour la totalité du séjour, seulement pour certaines activités ?

Enfin, notre voyage aurait lieu en février. J'ai cru voir que c'est la basse saison. Certains d'entre vous sont-ils partis à cette période ? Qu'en est-il niveau météo ?

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!

For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

Hello, Pour 13 nuits à Bali cet été, nous avons pensé faire le circuit suivant:

Ubud 3 nuits Munduk 2 nuits Amed 2 nuits Gili Meno 4 nuits Nusa Lembongan 2 nuits Puis retour à DPS.

Est-ce que cela fonctionne ou serait-il judicieux de faire sauter Munduk, pour ajouter une nuit à Ubud et une nuit à Nusa Lembongan ou ailleurs, quitte à aller dans la région de Munduk en excursion d'une journée depuis Ubud?

Bonjour, Nous venons d'acheter nos billets d'avion pour Bali pour cet été. Nous partons donc avec nos 2 garçons de 7 et 11ans du 7 au 23 août 2020. Nous serons sur l'île 16 jours et 15 nuits. Je réfléchis depuis un certain temps à notre itinéraire sachant que j'ai souhaité alterner la plage/snorkeling et les visites culturelles et les randos dans la nature. Voilà ce que j'ai élaboré susceptible d'être modifier ! - J1 : Arrivée le samedi 08/08 à 13h45 Route vers Balian Beach 1 nuit à Balian Beach - J2 : route vers Permuteran villages chrétiens - Bali Barat - Biorock 2 nuits à Permuteran - J 3 : snorkeling à Mejangan - J4 : route vers Munduk - cascades 3 nuits à Munduk - J 5 : Munduk - rizières de Jatiluwih - J6 : Munduk - lac Bratan - J 7 : route vers Amed en passant par Lovina (dauphins ? C'est le rêve de mon fils mais les commentaires ne sont pas encourageants... Heure de l'excursion ?) 3 nuits à Amed - J 8 : Amed snorkeling - J9 : Amed temple Tirtagganga - J 10 : speedboat pour Gili Air 2 nuits à Gili Air - snorkeling - J 11 : Gili Air - vélo autour de l'île - J 12 : retour à Padangbai et route vers Ubud en passant par Sidemen 3 nuits à Ubud - J 13 : Ubud - Monkey forest Campuhan Ridge Walk - Goa Gajah - J 14 : Ubud - rizières de Tegallallang - Gunung Kawi - Pura Tirta Empul VTT dans les rizières mais où ? - J 15 : rivière Ayung route vers Jimbaran (plage de Padang Padang l'après-midi) - fruits de mer 1 nuit à Jimbaran pour être proche de l'aéroport - J 16 : vol retour à 13h05

J'ai volontairement évité la presqu'île de Bukit car nous ne sommes pas adeptes de la fête balnéaire.

Je me demande si aller 2 jours à Permuteran se justifie ? ou mieux vaudrait rajouter 1 nuit à Ubud et 1 nuit ailleurs ? Difficile de faire des choix .... J'hésite aussi entre prendre des chauffeurs au fur et à mesure ou me mettre en contact avec un guide dès maintenant et qu'il nous organise les visites, les transferts et les commentaires...

Bonjour nous arrivons à 2 à Jakarta fin Juin et je voudrais aller voir les orangs outan à Bornéo, partie Indonésienne. Quelqu'un a -t-il une agence ou un guide à me recommander svp? J'ai essayé evaneos, mais ce qu'ils me proposent n'est pas top. Merci à tous, Cordialement Laura
