My plan for next November is to head back (yet again) to the Annapurnas to complete a route I’d always promised myself I’d do one day. Here’s the breakdown:

1. Start from Sikles and join the Annapurna Circuit by first going through Kori, then the Namun La (or Namun Bhanjyang). It’s a bit of a forgotten route, and I haven’t found much info on it—no .gpx files or firsthand accounts. Still, I’ve roughly mapped it out using different sources.

2. After that, I plan to head up to Phu to do the direct Phu Pass/Naar Pass traverse to Naar. It’s doable in 2 days, but why not in 1 if the weather’s good and I set off early enough?

3. Finally, I’ll head toward the Mesokanto North Pass (after a short camp at Tilicho North BC) to descend the entire Gandaki Valley down to Nayapul.

I’m obviously looking for any tips or feedback (if you’ve got any), and maybe a travel buddy who’s up for a little off-the-beaten-path adventure. 😄

I’m currently on the lookout for adventure and can’t stop thinking about the Himalayas. My main goal is this: I’d like to make a documentary about the region’s wildlife and flora using my own resources.

For now, I’m planning to stay there for a few months. I’d love to exchange ideas with you all to help me prepare for this trip as best as possible.

I’ve got a few questions in particular: - On this kind of trip, where and how do you find food?

- Which are the quiet spots where you won’t see another soul, and which are the best places to spot wild animals? (I’m guessing the two are connected)

- I’ve read several times that adventure/independent travel can be tricky in certain countries or areas—is that still the case today?

This is also my first solo trip, and I’m wondering if I’m being too ambitious. What do you think?

- Arrival in Sao Vicente on Tuesday, March 3rd at 9:20 AM from Lisbon (EasyJet) - Direct departure the same day or the next day for Santo Antao – 3 or 4 nights on Santo Antao (depending on whether we spend the first night in Mindelo or on Santo Antao) - Return to Sao Vicente for 3 nights - Flight to Boa Vista via Sal (Cabo Verde Airlines) on Tuesday, March 10th – 5 nights on Boa Vista - Return flight on Sunday, March 15th (Boa Vista to Porto: EasyJet)

Given the various bits of info I’ve seen about the unreliability of inter-island transport, is this itinerary realistically doable without stress? Would it be better to just take a simple flight from Sao Vicente to Sal and end the trip there (from where it’s also possible to return to Europe or France)? I’m still more drawn to Boa Vista... but I’m worried that two flights in a row might be complicated, unless it’s the same plane that just makes a stopover and continues...

Also, I’m calling on the expertise of hikers for Santo Antao: I’m not a big sports enthusiast—I enjoy walking when I travel, but not distances much longer than 10 km, and nothing too difficult (especially steep climbs where I quickly run out of breath)... For the hike from Ponta do Sol to Cruzinha: can you confirm that the hike is easier in the direction from Ponta do Sol to Cruzinha (less climbing)? I’ve found info that this hike is 14 km and takes about 5 hours. Do you think it’s possible to shorten it by taking a taxi or *aluguer* to Fontainhas? If so, how long would the hike be then, and how much time would it take?

For the hike from Xoxo (starting at the Bela Vista kiosk on the Cova road), I’ve found info that it’s 12 km and takes 5 hours of walking. I think it goes to Ribeira Grande. Apparently, you can shorten the hike and find *aluguers* on the road near Café Melicia... In that case, do you know how long the hike would be? Is this the hike that lets you walk along *levadas* (like in Madeira), cross banana plantations, and pass by the Cachoeira de Vinha waterfall?

Sorry for all these questions, but I can’t find a guide with hikes and difficulty levels... I think two hikes (one along the coast and one inland with terraces, *levadas*, and banana plantations) would suit our level.

On the third free day, do you think we could rent a 4x4 to explore: take the two scenic routes on the east side and maybe venture a little off the beaten path (without taking risks, of course)... Otherwise, hire a guide for the day: do you have any recommendations and an idea of the price?

One last thing: in March, is it worth (or pointless) to choose accommodation with a pool (especially on Santo Antao)? Is the pool water warm enough? What about the ocean temperature?

Hi there, We did a trip to South Africa in August 2023 and at the time, we regretted not being able to make the most of the Cape Town area because of the weather. So we’re thinking of going back during the right season in early 2026 for 2 weeks, but I’m struggling a bit to plan the itinerary. We’d like to spend a few days on safari, but options are somewhat limited in this (large) geographic area since it’s not the right season for KTP, and Addo Elephant Park doesn’t seem like the best choice. Are there any interesting private reserves in this area? Otherwise, we’re considering starting with a few days in Madikwe from Johannesburg, then about ten days from Cape Town. For those 10 days, do you have any suggestions that go beyond the classic Garden Route? We’ve heard good things about the Cederberg, but after that, I’m struggling to put together something coherent. We’re French and passionate about Southern Africa. For over twenty years, we’ve taken several trips to South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Zambia, always traveling independently and on the move. In 2009, we took a sabbatical and spent eight months in Southern Africa. To do this, we bought a vehicle in South Africa, with the help of a Frenchman living there who guided us through the registration and insurance process. Unfortunately, he has since passed away.

Now, we’d like to spend several months a year in Southern Africa, mainly in Botswana, South Africa, and Namibia, but also in Zambia and Zimbabwe.

We’d like to buy a 4x4, either already equipped or to be outfitted, but we’re not sure where it’s best to buy it: South Africa, Namibia, or Botswana?

We’re looking for someone who can help us with the registration and insurance process (we’re not bilingual, on top of everything!). Do you have any contacts you could recommend? We’d appreciate any information or recommendations to help us with our project.

We’re also looking for a rental or guesthouse in Johannesburg for November 2025, run by French speakers or people who speak French.

Once we’re there, the question of the 90-day tourist visa will come up. Apparently, it’s no longer possible to leave the territory for a few days and re-enter. We’re considering applying for a Retired Person Visa. However, the process from France seems complicated: no response from the South African embassy in Paris or from Botswana… So, we’re thinking of looking into it directly once we’re there.

Day 1: Panama City + night 1 Day 2: Departure for the San Blas Islands (I don’t have a transfer company yet and I’m hesitant to drive there myself in an SUV) + 1 or 2 nights depending on the price Day 3 (or 4): Return to Panama City + departure for Isla Grande (maybe too much in one day, so maybe an extra night in Panama City and leave the next day for Isla Grande) For Isla Grande, should I go through Portobelo? Day 3 or 4: Isla Grande + night Day 4 or 5: From Isla Grande to Lake Gatun for an Embera immersion (I haven’t checked the travel time yet) + night Day 5 or 6: Departure from Lake Gatun to El Valle de Antón + 2 or 3 nights Day 7 or max Day 9: Head to the Gulf of Chiriquí and Boca Chica + 2 or 3 nights? Day 9 or max Day 12: Boquete + 2 nights Day 11 or 14: Bocas del Toro (one of the surrounding islands) + 2 nights Day 13 or 16: Return to Panama City by plane the day before the international flight. I don’t have all 21 nights planned yet, but there are still some details to work out with your help ;)

Also, is it possible to rent a car in Panama City and drop it off at the Bocas del Toro airport? (I think so...) Finally, what are the steps for driving back from Bocas del Toro to Panama City (to avoid the domestic flight)?

Summer seems to be the best time weather-wise for Bali. And since summer’s when we can take a long trip, let’s go for Bali... even though we know it’ll be *packed* with people! So we’ll steer clear of the island’s south...

Our current plan (19 days on the ground, 7 stops): - 4 Nights (3 days) in Ubud 2 days for rice terraces / activities (Tegallalang, Campuhan Ridge, Monkey Forest, Bird Park, coffee plantation, market (?), dance "pestacle," cooking class and/or spa) 1 day with a driver for the Temples (Pura Gunung Kawi, Tirta Empul Spring, Pura Mengening, Goa Gajah...) - 2 nights in Sidemen (1 day for Pura Kehen + Batur Caldera + Pura Besakih and 1 day to relax in the rice terraces) - 3 nights on Gili Meno (Rest and beaches) from Padangbai - 2 nights in Amed (1 day from Padangbai with the Abang rice terrace and Tirta Gangga baths, and the next day a boat tour in Amed) - 4 nights in Pemuteran (1 day for transfer and rest, 1 day to visit Kawah Ijen, and 2 days of snorkeling at Menjangan Island) - 2 nights in Munduk (1 day with the Dayang rice terrace and the 3-waterfall hike, 1 day at Pura Ulun Danu Bratan) - 2 nights in Jatiluwih (1 day in the rice terraces, and on the last day, we’ll stop by Pura Taman Ayun in Mengwi and Pura Tanah Lot before catching our red-eye flight).

We’ve already been to Japan before, back in 2013 for 15 days in August, visiting the major tourist hubs: Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Himeji, and Ogimachi. This time, we’re taking more time—about a month—with the following points of interest: Start of the trip with a few days in Tokyo Osaka International Exposition on October 11–12, 2025 Jidai Matsuri Festival in KYOTO on October 22, 2025 Karatsu Kunchi Festival from November 2–4 Our goal is to blend into the crowd and make connections in festive atmospheres. Do these stops sound interesting to you? Is it a good idea to stay in a central location between October 10 and 23 to get to the Osaka Expo and the Jidai Matsuri Festival in Kyoto using public transport, and to explore the region in between? Between Kyoto and the KARATSU Festival from October 23 to November 1, we’re thinking of traveling by shinkansen with a stopover for a few days to visit Hiroshima and the surrounding area. Côté matériel, tout est prêt, sachant que je vais privilégier le bivouac (tente, couchage, petit matériel divers...etc) Je table sur une charge de mon sac de 60l a 18kg maxi donc je vais privilégier le minimum vêtements y compris.

Nous recherchons des infos principalement sur deux sujets:

* Visa de résidence / Carte de séjour - pour le ressortissant français que je suis: - Est-ce que le statut de "conjoint de tunisien" facilite l'obtention de ces documents? J'ai entendu parler d'une carte de séjour de 10 ans? - Procédure à suivre? Sachant que (du moins dans un premier temps) nous n'envisageons pas de travailler.

* Fiscalité / Impôts: - Si nous devenons "résident fiscal" en Tunisie (séjour de plus de 6 mois par an), nous serons bien sûr soumis à l'impôt sur le revenu en Tunisie, mais comment cela marche? Comment en pratique déclare-t-on les « revenus non-salariés » tunisiens et étrangers (e.g. intérêts bancaires, loyers, etc.)? - Nous avons lu que les retraités français bénéficiaient d'une déduction forfaitaire de 80% pour leurs pensions et rentes viagères provenant de l’étranger, mais cette déduction s'applique-t-elle aussi sur les sommes que nous aurons besoin de transférer pour vivre en Tunisie ?

Annonce très en avance :

J’ai un grand rêve, celui de faire le tour du monde à pied, au départ de Paris.

Au début, mon intention était de partir seul et de faire des rencontres sur le chemin… Je me suis ensuite ravisé, notamment pour des questions de sécurité à tous les niveaux : risques liés aux mauvaises rencontres, stabilité sociale, repère affectif etc.

Je cherche donc dans l’idéal un.une coéquiper.e, ou pourquoi pas un groupe.

Je dois avouer que je n’aime pas beaucoup l’idée d’un trop grand groupe, car c’est imposant pour ceux que l’on rencontre, et contraignant lorsqu’il faut prendre des décisions.

C’est un projet sérieux que je prévois d’effectuer d’ici 3 à 5 ans, le temps de se documenter et de tout penser au mieux : matériellement , financièrement, administrativement, humainement…

C’est un projet de vie, qui va durer plus ou moins 10ans.

Les pays que je souhaiterais traverser :

La Grèce La Turquie La Géorgie L’Iran Le plateau tibétain (?) La Chine

Le Japon représenterait la moitié du chemin pour rendre visite à ma sœur et son mari.

Je cherche des camarades capables d’être autonomes sur le plan matériel et financier au cas où l’on déciderait de se séparer (de manière définitive ou non).

Je suis bilingue anglais/français. J’ai quelques notions d’allemand, d’italien, de flamand. J’ai surtout une bonne base en Chinois. Si vous avez des notions de russe et/ou d’espagnole, ça serait le top.

En ce qui concerne les transports (vélo, voiture, bus, train, bateau, avion), je suis prêt à en prendre dans 4 conditions :

- Lorsque la réalité du terrain l’impose (exemple : traverser de l’océan). - Lorsque le transport en question est une expérience inédite en soi (exemple : le transsibérien). - Lorsque les conditions physiques l’imposent (exemple : blessures ou maladie en cours de guérison) - Lorsqu’il est nécessaire de « sauter par-dessus » un pays (exemple : le Turkménistan, la Corée du Nord, pays en guerre...)

Hormis ces conditions, je souhaite vivement que la pratique de la marche reste l’expérience centrale de ce projet.

Bonjour à tous les adeptes du camping-car Mon épouse et moi projetons de monter un projet sur lequel j'aimerais avoir l'avis des praticiens de ce mode de loisir. Nous envisageons de créer un lieu d'accueil pour 4 camping-car sur une propriété sécurisée. Nous pensons créer 4 emplacements sur bitume, avec une parfaite mise à niveau. Autour de chaque emplacement, nous pensons créer 4 cellules allouées à chaque emplacement, dans lesquelles nous placerons une machine à laver avec sèche-linge et dans laquelle il y aura une très belle douche à l'italienne, une salle d'eau avec double vasque et un wc. A proximité de chaque emplacement, nous mettrons une borne électrique et une arrivée d'eau mais également un barbecue (avec charbon bois fourni). Un système de vidange des eaux usées sera disponible avec dernières technologies en vigueur. Au centre du site, nous construirons un carbet sous lequel les gens pourrons se retrouver s'ils le désirent pour partager de bons moments. Des diners et petits-déjeuners seront proposés en sus. Le tout dans un lieu sécurisé et à proximité de la villa des propriétaires. Nous demanderons 50e la nuit pour toute ces prestations. Nous demandons l'avis de chacun pour savoir si ce projet trouverait écho auprès des camping-caristes... question 1 : Peut on louer une voiture à Thessalonique et la rendre à Athènes ? question 2 : ou bien rendre la voiture sur le lieu d' embarquement pour Santorin ? question 3 : sinon qu'elles sont les moyens de transport pour aller de son hôtel à Athènes au port d'embarquement? Et dernière question : quel climat fait il en octobre dans les météores et à Santorin ?

Me sentant proche du courant de pensée de la décroissance et me sentant de plus en plus en décalage avec notre société, et m'étant formé à l'utilisation des chevaux de trait (attelage et agriculture) je réfléchis à vivre une ou plusieurs expériences dans des fermes Amish aux États-Unis de façon à me nourrir de leur expérience de travail avec les chevaux et de leur fonctionnement sobre et assez autonome.

En mode wwoofing ou bien sous statut de salarié. (mais j'imagine que les Amish visant l'autonomie... ils ne doivent pas salarier les gens. - j'essaierais alors de travailler aussi un petit peu dans un autre endroit pour payer mon billet retour et subvenir à certaines dépenses comme les vêtements ou les pièces détachées de vélo)

Communautés Amish accueillantes Auriez-vous des contacts à me transmettre dans des communautés Amish ? (en Pennsylvanie ou ailleurs...) Je viens du milieu de la machine agricole (solide expérience en conception mécanique en bureau d'étude) et je m'intéresse beaucoup au matériel moderne de traction animale. Par exemple le matériel produit par la société Pioneer Equiment Inc. (située dans l' Ohio) Je serais intéressé de vivre dans des fermes qui utilisent ce genre de matériel (traditionalisme de l'utilisation du cheval allié à un certain progrès qui facilite le travail, le rends moins pénible).

Déplacements à vélo Je pense me déplacer à vélo. Est-ce possible sans soucis sur de longues distance ? par exemple New-York -> Pennsylvanie -> Ohio ? (pas plus dangereux qu'en France ? ) Les trains prennent-ils les vélos ? les vélos couchés ?

Alors Moab j'y serait un weekend donc je ne pense pas faire Arch donc voici je que je compte faire : Je viens de Durango donc le 5 je vais faire Durango/ Mesa Verde le matin. Sur Mesa Verde je compte faire que le secteur de Chapin Mesa avec le Park Point Overlook , Far view site , Spruce House et les deux loop de Mesa Top et Cliff Palace. Pour le moment je ne pense pas faire de visites guidées. J'ai vue que si je changeais d'avis je pourrais réserver sur Durango, 2 jour avant, au 802 Main Av Une fois les visites finis j'ai 3h de route pour rejoindre Moab, ce qui veut dire au plus tard à 17H. Le soleil se couchant après 20h pensez vous que je puisse faire la rando de Fisher Towers dans la foulée? Je ne pense pas faire toute la rando mais au moins rejoindre la vue depuis Titan, je ne sais pas si c'est le bout de la rando et le temps qu'il faut.

Si non pour le Dimanche 6 je pense faire Corona Arh et, si pas fait la, veille Fisher Towers ou Corona et Sal Mountain Loop Road. Faut il mieux faire Corona le matin et en cas Fisher ou Sal l'aprés midi ou l'inverse?? En y étant un dimanche qu'y a t'il d'autre à faire ou je ne trouverais pas trop de monde mais pas compliqué

A savoir que je souhaiterai réaliser ce voyage en "partenariat" avec une association. J'aimerai avoir autant de conseils, avis, retour d'expérience que possible pour préparer au mieux ce voyage (budget, vélo, équipement, etc).

J’ai préparé ça tout l’hiver avec achats de matos mais vu les circonstances actuelles du au virus je me demande sérieusement si je ne peux pas le reporter à l’année prochaine. Même si je reste en France je me dis qu’en quatre mois j’ai des chances de le choper et me retrouver à l’autre bout du pays avec mon vélo et ma tente et potentiellement le virus ce n’est pas très secu .... Vous verriez ça comment de votre côté ?

Bonjour, Je possède une maison avec grand terrain en bord de mer au sud Casamance, je voudrais y établir un parking sécurisé avec un acceuils pour camping car ( je fait l'Afrique depuis plus de 20 ans) Question; je ne connais pas le monde du camping-car, et voudrais savoir s'il y à de la demande , bien sûre je reste ouvert moi aussi au questions ! Bonsoir à tous, Depuis le temps que je lis tous les sites et tous les carnets sur le forum je me lance enfin à poster mes interrogations sur l'organisation du voyage prévu normalement en septembre sinon l'année prochaine si on ne peut pas partir (comme ça tout sera prêt) ! La question du jour est : est ce réalisable pour des quinquagénaires randonneurs occasionnels mais en montagne de faire en une journée : - Départ de Torrey - Moonsape Overlook - A/R Long Dong Silver - LWHC - Goblin Valley - route vers Moab pour la nuit sans courrir, je ne veux pas me sentir prise par le temps.

Je prépare un voyage en été 2021 à Bali.

J'ai repéré des hotels, et imaginé un itinéraire. J'ai l'habitude d'organiser des voyages en Europe en m'occupant de réserver vol, hotel, location de vehicules, excursions etc moi meme. Cela me pose plus de problèmes pour des destinations plus lointaines, d'autant plus lorsqu'on voyage avec un enfant. J'aurai aimé avoir vos avis 7 commentaires sur l'itinéraire :

Arrivée Bali Transfert à Ubud et 5 nuits sur place. Location de voiture avec chauffeur ou guide pour excursions depuis Ubud Ensuite, deux nuits à Munduk Je pensais aller ensuite 3 nuits sur Gili Air avant de redescendre au sud de Lombok pour une fin de séjour plus tranquille à Lombok Kuta (4 nuits) Retour sur Bali, pour une nuit avant retour.

Est ce que cet itinéraire vous parait possible ? J'ai prévu de faire pas mal de chose depuis Ubud qui est central pour ne pas multiplier les hébergements.

I’m a volunteer leader at a youth center (MJC), and we’ve been deeply moved by everything happening in Madagascar—extreme poverty, endangered animals, deforestation, and so on. Plus, one of our teens has a Malagasy friend, so our group wants to travel there next year. Throughout this year, they’ve planned fundraisers to collect donations (sheets, dish towels, schoolbooks, hygiene products, etc.) and funds to cover their trip and stay.

They’re really motivated and generous—they already volunteer in schools and senior centers, and they’re always welcomed warmly.

But so far, they haven’t found any organizations in Madagascar willing to host them for two weeks (orphanages, schools, animal protection parks, etc.). Does anyone know of any contacts, please? Looking forward to your replies. Have a great evening!
