Hi there,

I’m a French student, and I have to do a one-month internship (August) in Morocco, in Rabat. I don’t know the city at all, and I can’t afford to stay in a hotel... So I’m looking for someone who could help me out... if you have any info, tips, or anything else, I’d love to hear them! =) Thanks in advance!

Hi, Staying in a student dorm is a smart idea!

Hi there,

If you can't afford a hotel... renting won't be any better.

There are hotels for less than 10 € a night, especially if you're staying for a month! In the city center, for example, the "Royal", the "Dhormi", or the "Gaulois".

Hi!

Try contacting this student residence: http://www.baytalmaarifa.ma/ It's the best place to stay if you're a student in Rabat.

Anyway, if you have any questions about Rabat or need help once you're here, don't hesitate to contact me :)

Bye

Hi,

Thanks for your replies—they’ve given me several leads... I looked into hotels, but it’s still a bit pricey for a month. I was thinking more of staying with a family or in a shared flat for around 150 €–200 in rent...

There’s just one small detail I hadn’t considered—August is Ramadan for many Moroccans, so maybe my company didn’t think of that, but July would be preferable in this case.

Hi Carole,

Actually, staying in a hotel is quite difficult in Rabat, but you can rent an apartment for a reasonable price—just not in the city center. For example, Salé Al Jadida is one area to consider.

Anyway, I don’t know your budget, but if you’d like, I can help you find an apartment, studio, etc. I live in Rabat, so I could assist you. Just let me know your requirements, and I’ll try to help you find what you’re looking for.

Best regards,

Hi there,

In August, it's Ramadan in Morocco, but you can still find families who can host you during this period.

Without meaning to break any forum rules, you can contact a family in Yakoub El Mansour—they’re really welcoming.

Don’t hesitate, here’s their email for more info: amaoui_007@hotmail.com.

Happy travels!

Abd.

Hi, Rabat is a pleasant city rich in history. For a budget-friendly stay, it might be worth looking for accommodation in neighborhoods like Hassan, Agdal, or the Ocean district. These areas are well served by public transport and close to amenities. Sharing a flat in Rabat can also be a great option for finding an affordable apartment, offering a more friendly and practical living environment for an internship...

The request post dates back to 2011. I reckon she’s sorted by now, right?

Hi Michel,

Akomachin doesn’t care. This discussion just gives them an opportunity to drop their ad. For the past two days (over the weekend, when moderation is less active), they’ve been doing the same thing across different forums and multiple threads. Don’t open the link—it’d make them too happy. Unfortunately, I did. It’s just rental listings.

Worth reporting (I already did).

Have a great Sunday! Murielle

Thanks for the heads-up! I didn’t click. Something about it made me think twice—probably my old age. 😎

Well, I clicked on purpose! And nothing happened to me. The forum police are on the case! :(

No, nothing happened to me either when I clicked the link. However, I did contribute to the ad's success (number of views on the original site). The messages from trucbidule across several forum threads are clearly promotional (commercial, basically).

Are you talking about me when you mention "the forum police"? Do you think that when someone clicks "report the message," they’re part of the forum police?

Hi there,

For the first question, the answer is yes.

For the second one, I think you can "report" it, but you don’t necessarily have to brag about it! Or claim it if the word bothers you. I really hate this kind of "reporting."

(Oh, and yeah—we use *tu* online...)
EL Elhine Globetrotter ·
Oops! Sorry for using the informal "tu"... Boasting about reporting it? There’s no reason to boast about it or hide it, it seems to me. I don’t understand why it could bother you that much. Have a great rest of your day.

I also thought that using "tu" was the norm on a travelers' forum, where people are generally in search of happiness. I see that’s not the case for everyone, so I’ll be careful with my wording, just like you. ;) Let’s respect everyone and keep our tone measured with those who aren’t abrupt in their behavior.

Have a great day.
