J'aurais pu poster à d'autres endroits car ma contribution regroupe finalement plusieurs sujets mais comme il faut bien choisir une rubrique, j'ai opté pour celle qui reprend notre but final qui est de pouvoir nous installer en Afrique du Sud.
Je n'ai actuellement pas (ou plus pour l'instant car certains intervenants sur d'autres post ou en mp m'ont déjà gentiment renseigné 😉) de questions sur le sujet mais je cherche tout simplement à partager cette "future" expérience. J'aimerais que ceux qui ont une expérience similaire (en Afrique ou ailleurs...), nous en fassent part et nous procurent ainsi un bon moment de lecture ou de mise en garde sur l'un ou l'autre piège à éviter ou de fou rire sur une aventure cocasse...etc
Ma petite histoire :

Pour les autres, en voici un très court résumé 😛 :
Nous sommes un couple de 37 et 40 ans accompagné d'une petite fille de 8 ans. Nous sommes tous (ma fille y compris) des Amoureux de la nature. Notre plus grand regret est de ne pas avoir choisi de formation comme véto ou biologiste... Résultat nous travaillions dans le privé avec des horaires de fou (5h30-19h00 + sur pc le soir très tard à domicile) et n'avions que la télévision et nos livres pour voyager et vivre nos passions... Fin 2010 nous avons dit "STOP" et avons décidé de vivre ces passions avant qu'il ne soit trop tard. De plus, j'ai promis à ma fille de lui montrer les animaux dans leur environnement naturel et un papa qui fait une promesse se doit de la respecter 😇.
Nous avons donc arrêté de bosser et préparons notre reconversion. Nous débuterons donc par 15 jours au Mexique car il y a un an d'ici nous avions déjà réservé nos vacances afin, essentiellement, de nous reposer et sans savoir que fin 2010 nous allions décider de TOUT CHANGER. Nous reviendrons le 27/07 du Mexique et le 29/07 nous reprendrons l'avion direction l'Afrique du Sud jusque fin septembre. Sur place nous rejoindrons 3 réserves dans lesquelles nous feront de l'écovolontariat. Durant une semaine, nous rendrons visites à plusieurs Français qui ont un "guest house ou B&B" et espérons avoir la chance d'en visiter un ou deux à remettre car notre but final est de pouvoir nous y installer définitivement...
Evidemment, nous savons que la route est longue et parsemée d'embûches afin d'y arriver mais c'est un projet, c'est un rêve et nous ferons ce qui est possible pour le réaliser. En attendant nous mettons à profit les quelques mois qui nous séparent du départ afin de nous préparer au mieux : Achats divers, contacts sur place, réservations B&B, intergate immigration, sociétés immobilières, infirmerie...etc
Et puis d'ici à ce que nous trouvions notre petit coin de paradis en AfdS et que nous revendions notre maison ici (on a pas gagné au loto donc si on veut acheter il faut d'abord revendre 😛 ), nous profiterons pour tourner un peu et espérons respirer un peu d'Asie et d'Amérique...
J'espère maintenant pouvoir lire vos expériences et si jamais un de vous remet son superbe guest house à un très bon prix nous sommes preneurs 😎.

Bravo pour votre idée, je suis du même avis. Je suis technicienne en santé animale et mon rêve serait d'aller travailler en Afrique du Sud. Dans votre résumé d'histoire, vous parlies d'écovolontariat. Est-ce que vous avez déjà trouvé des endroits? Parce que j'ai beau chercher, je tombe toujours sur des entreprise qui demandent des montants d'argent. Je considère que si je fais du volontariat, je ne veux pas en plus payer. En effet, la plupart, pour ne pas dire 99% des possibilités d'écovolontariat sont payantes. Ce qui n'est pas le cas pour les missions humanitaires.
Les réserves manquent de moyens pour subvenir à leurs besoins et peu sont soutenues financièrement. D'autre part, la demande est énorme en rapport avec le nombre de places disponibles. Les écovolontaires sont logés, nourris et blanchis. De plus (dans les bons endroits), les écovolontaires sont formés par des vétos, biologistes et rangers. Je comprends donc bien que les organismes (vu la demande plus importante que l'offre) en profitent pour se financer. Ceci dit, ne soyons pas naïfs, certains en profitent certainement pour s'enrichir et l'entièreté de notre contribution n'est pas uniquement allouée aux besoins de la réserve et des animaux 🏴☠️.
Maintenant si l'on considère qu'en moyenne, un mois d'écovolontariat revient à 2000€, cela reste bien moins cher que n'importe quel voyage de 15 jours avec des activités chez un tour opérateur...
MAIS :
Dans mes discussions à gauche à droite, j'ai constaté qu'il y avait moyen de faire de l'écovolontariat "gratuitement"... à condition d'avoir une âme d'aventurier... Les seules personnes avec qui j'ai discuté et qui ont vécu des expériences à long terme sans devoir investir sont des personnes qui ont pris un billet d'avion, ont rejoint diverses organisations et proposé leurs services. Bien entendu, il faut envisager alors du long terme et avoir un bon sens de l'aventure et ne pas se décourager facilement. Personnellement, partant avec ma fille de 8 ans, cela devenaait fortement compliqué à envisager sérieusement.
Je pense avoir fait le tour des différents organisations et si tu veux des adresses je peux t'en donner quelques-unes mais ce sera toujours payant. Si l'humanitaire t’intéresse alors j'ai également quelques adresses et certaines quasi gratuites car ils ne demandent qu'à couvrir des frais de dossiers et assurances du genre de 100 à 300€/mois max.

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
Currently an entrepreneur in real estate and transport, I’m looking for a partner / partners / foundation to collaborate on an agriculture project, as I own 10 hectares of land.
The hectares have remained unused for years due to a lack of financial means, since the project requires what I’d call a considerable investment. As the main stakeholder, I have a minimal contribution to offer.
I believe it’s time to bring this space to life to meet pressing needs and serve the common good of society.
The project is simple:
1) Grow maize + build a processing plant to produce flour
2) Open a mini supermarket + a modern bakery using the flour for pastries, etc.
3) Build a healthcare service
4) Build a nursery and primary school
5) Construct free housing for retired expatriates in exchange for their voluntary contributions in their respective fields.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
