Après différentes réflexions, études de guides et avis sur différents sites internet et forum, notamment celui ci, voici mon itinéraire presque définitif sur lequel j'aimerais votre avis
Je précise également avoir déjà visité San Francisco. Par ailleurs, ce circuit devrait débuter fin avril-début mai. Les randos ne sont pas indiqués mais feront également partie de ce trip, déjà très fortement chargé!

Je ne connais pas la partie ouest du canada mais pour le reste c'est trop, trop, et re-trop !!
Tu va passer ton temps à rouler... tu ne te reposes jamais ?
As tu testé ton parcours sur google map pour els temps de route et ajouté les temps de visite ?
Il faut vraiment que tu fasses des choix !!
Par exemple, San Francisco mérite plus d'une seule journée !!
autre exemple : Si tu veux voir la côte sur la US 1, il faut prendre le temps de visiter l'aquarium de Monterey, de faire des arrêt sur Big Sur, de apsser à Solvang ou le Hearst Castle, de visiter Santa Barbara qui est une jolie ville...et tout ceci requière au moins 2 étapes !.
Encore un exemple : San Diego : Tu ne peux pas voir Seaworld + le zoo le même jour !!! chacun requière au moins une journée...n"oublie pas la chaleur torride qui t'obligera à faire des pauses !
Bref, pour moi, c'est trop chargé ! Nous avons fait tout cela avec le Canada en moins Moab en moins Mesa verde en moins et Chelly en moins .... l'an passé en 28 jours et à la fin, nous avons zappé Zion vu que nous étions fatigués !
A quelle époque pars tu ?
Si c'est l'été, tu pourrais, à partir de San Francisco, passer par Yosemite pour rejoindre la death valley...en oubliant la US 1.
Bref il va te falloir faire de sérieux choix !
Le nôtre c'est d'y retourner cet été pour "approfondir" et voir les coins que nous n'avions pas pu faire l'année passée !!

c'est speed aussi bien sur la partie Canada que sur la partie USA 😕 !
Banff, on y a passé 3 nuits et Jasper 2 nuits et c'était presque trop court !
Ce ne sont ni la ville de Banff ni la ville de Jasper qui sont intéressantes à visiter !! mais les alentours et là je sens comme un vide 😕...
Jasper --> Vancouver : 800 km, + de 8h de route non-stop 😕
Vancouver --> Seattle en bus Greyhound + visite de Seattle, ça va être speed comme visite...
Surtout que le lendemain, vous reprenez un vol vers SFO ! et une visite express de SFO en une 1/2 journée : ce n'est pas sérieux ? 😮
San Diego - Death Valley, Death Valley - Zion... 🤪... ça me semble speed, ultra speed, au delà du raisonnable... 🏴☠️

Je suis du même avis que les précédentes intervenantes. Nous avons fait Calgary-Vancouver en un mois, tellement il y a de choses à faire dans cette magnifique région alors en 6 jours, cela me laisse perplexe !
Je crois qu'il faut que tu choisisses, soit l'Ouest américain, soit l'Ouest canadien, car les deux en 26 jours, c'est du gâchis !
Quelques précisions, nous connaissons très bien San Francisco donc ne revisiterons pas la ville, juste un petit resto le soir.
Par ailleurs, les km ne nous font pas peur, d'autant plus que dans notre cas, la moyenne est, de 300km par jour voir un peu moins, ce qui est faible. (Nous vivons au Canada et avons l'habitude de faire de la route), hormis deux trajets de 800km qui se feront d'une traite.
Concernant Banff et Jasper, bien que ce sont les viles cités, ce ne seront pas les villes que nous visiterons mais les parcs
Certaines étapes sont longues notamment le jour 13 San Diego-Death Valley ainsi que le jour 23 Page et alentours, mais je ne vois pas comment l'organiser autrement, et tient à voir ces endroits
Le but de ce voyage est d'en découvrir le plus possible même si à certains endroits nous devrons éviter certaines activités a cause du timing (notamment les randos, ce qui sera partie remise lors d'un futur voyage)
Enfin, une journée à été rajouter à Los Angeles pour vister les studios universal.
Si une étape est à supprimer, laquel? (je pencherais pour le Canyon de Chelly), ou à rallonger (Page?)?
N'hésiter pas à mer faire part de toutes vos idées sur la façon d'améliorer cette itinéraire, dont le départ est prévu le 29 mars

3h pour le zoo, plus le temps pour passer de l'un à l autre, plus les contraintes des horaires d'ouverture, je vois pas bien ce que tu vas avoir le temps de visiter sur SD, je zapperais ou je rajoute un jour ( perso , j'adore SD donc je rajouterais un jour)

Island in the sky, The needles ou les 2 ? Il faut inverser J18 et J19 The Needles ou Canyonland est sur la route que tu vas prendre pour rejoindre Mesa Verde. rcges est au nord de Moab. Un jour de plus aurait été bien, mais cela me semble difficile..

Cela ne te laisse pas beaucoup de temps pour de te reposer, mais comme dit Moustaki, tu auras bien le temps de te reposer quand tu seras mort.
Pour moi, il faut que tu coupes, Canyon de Chelly, la cote, Zion ou San Diego (à grtand regret car j'aime les 2), mais il va falloir choisir.

En fonction de ce qui est dit plus haut, prends plutôt directement un vol Seattle Los Angelès.
Bien que je ne sois pas forcément d'accord avec Frisoulette qui dit en parlant de la côte "je naime pas beaucoup la cote qui ressemble à ce que l'on a chez nous, donc perso je supprimerais."
D'abord, nous répondons à un cousin canadien, pas un compatriote breton... donc c'est pas le même "chez nous"... et puis la côte pacifique est tout de même assez impressionnante. J'ai rarement vu en France de tels dénivelés... à part les falaises, mais même, ce n'est pas si haut... Santa Barbara est une ville très agréable aux accents hispaniques. J'ai aussi bien aimé le petit village de Solvang...et puis on voit rarement autant de phoques sur les plages françaises....bref des tas de petites choses qui méritent qu'on y passe un peu de temps.

En prenant compte de vos avis, je crois comprendre qu'il faut rajouter une journée à San diego, et éventuellement supprimer Canyon de Chelly pour approfondir dans les autres NP. Zion et Bryce? le reste semble faisable?
Concernant le zoo de SD, celui-ci n'est pas la priorité, celui de Toronto est déjà génial bien que celui de SD est encore plus grand parait-il, c'est juste si nous trouvons le temps
Concernant la côte, je ne pense pas pouvoir revenir la dessus (nous serons 2 à faire ce trip, moi plus intéréssé par les parcs, la personne m'accompagnant par les villes et la côte)
Je reconnais que 6 jours pour faire Calgary-Vancouver est très juste mais je suis sur de pouvoir en profiter tout de même (Le trajet Jasper-Van pourrait éventuellement se faire de nuit) sachant que je connais déjà un peu Vancouver.
Je reste à l'écoute!
Une autre petite question concernant la location de voiture (il y a tellement de post et d'avis divergeant).
Plusieurs hésitations:
- Voiture compact pour le Canada ( ça c'est presque sur); dur d'ailleurs de trouver un prestataire sans frais d'abandon. Seulement holidays auto que j'ai découvert sur ce forum et dont je ne connais pas la fabilité
- Full-size, Petit SUV (Chevrolet Equinox) ou Green collection (hertz) voir Mustang sur tout ou partie du circuit aux USA. Les prix sont assez similaires (sauf pour la mustang) que ce soit en passant par sunnycars (locationdevoiture.fr), ou Hertz, sachant que je dois payer le supplément jeune conducteur, ce qui me revient à environ 700€ du 7 au 24 mai tout inclus
Tu as raison, la cote est impressionante, mais j'en ai deja vu à maintes reprises , voir de plus impressionnantes et pas que chez nous, d'ou MON choix s'il faut supprimer quelque chose , et il me semble que dans son parcours, c'est obligatoire de supprimer.
Mais tu as raison sur le fait que pour quelqu'un moins à la bourre, la cote merite un peu plus de temps.
Mais comme tu l'as vu, je lui ai egalement suggéré de zapper Zion ou San Diego, et crois moi, pour moi, c'est un creve coeur 😕
mais il faut bien suggerer qq coupes si on lui dit que c'est trop long...
Evidemment , le mieux serait qu'il rallonge ces vacances.😛 Je ne sais pas pourquoi personne ne lui a proposé...🤪🤪

Ce n'est pas si petit. L'an passé nous avions loué un Pontiac Torrent qui est le clone de l'Equinox. Nous étions 4 avec 2 grosses valises et 2 sacs de voyages + nos sacs à dos etc.. impec !
Tout dépend du nombre de passagers que tu auras et du nombre de bagages.
Avec ce 4x4 nous avons pu faire au moins la piste de monument valley qui était bien défonçée au début !

Perso je ne peux qu'approuver mes prédécesseurs ! Hérésie, gâchis sont les mots qui me viennent !
J4 : partir à midi de Jasper et prétendre être à Vancouver le soir est totalement irréaliste !
A part les derniers 100km, aucune autoroute sur ce parcours, et même les touristes réputés "rapides" (dans mon genre) prévoient 2 jours pour l'étape Lake Louise-Vancouver. Bien sur , dans la mesure où on veut voir qq chose !
Pour le reste tout t'a été dit !
Si vous ne réussissez jamais rien du premier coup, n'essayez pas le parachutisme !

En effet, au Canada, la plupart des gens ne "disposent" que de deux semaines de vacances, après, soit on négocie plus à l'embauche, soit on prend des vacances sans soldes, bien mieux acceptés ici que ça ne l'est en France.
Par ailleurs mon programme est en effet très chargé du à différentes contraintes entre la date de mes vacances fin avril et un vol TO-CDG le 28 mai..🤪;
Concernant la voiture, nous serons deux avec deux gros bagages et deux petits, donc pas de problème de ce coté là, je me pose juste la question concernant quelques pistes mais également celle du confort, voir celle de la consommation. (j'ai l'habitude de louer une intermédiare voir Full-Size pour mes différents voyages au Canada avec une consommation entre 10 & 11L/100km)
Jadorry, je suis bien conscient de la rapidité du trajet, mais j'essaie de l'adapter au mieux. D'ailleurs, l'arrivée vers Vancouver se fera le lendemain matin, avec la fin de la route qui se fera de nuit, celle-ci étant, parait-il légèrement moins intéressante

- Connaissaient vous des hôtels "mieux" dans la meme tranche de prix et moins cher😊
- Nous pensons éventuellement faire quelques pistes, nous hésitons entre Mid-Size SUV (type Equinox) ou Full-Size, un avis? nous ne pouvons nous permettre un 4X4 supérieur
- Avis global sur le parcours (nous ne pouvons étendre le séjour, eventuellement switcher un jour à un endroit pour en approfondir un autre. Nous ne désirons pas trop supprimer une des destinations et enfin, bien que ce soit très court au Canada, le début n'est pas modifiable)

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. They treated us like royalty from start to finish. These two live in Las Vegas and know the region like the back of their hand. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
