Chapada Diamantina National Park (also known as Brazil’s Grand Canyon) will begin reopening gradually, in phases and by village. Mucugê, for example, will be fully accessible starting August 31st. The only restrictions still to be clarified are events with more than 10 people and schools. I’ll post updates on the other villages in the park as soon as they’re available. The opening of Lençóis (Chapada Diamantina's gateway) planned for September 1st has been postponed indefinitely. Keep an eye on the official Facebook page of the Lençóis Prefecture. Tropical greetings from Salvador da Bahia, Ivan Bahia Guide

UPDATE:

After a long conversation I had this morning with the Tourism Secretary of Lençóis, regarding the reopening, we can hope to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Normally (if all goes well), access to Lençóis and surrounding areas will be allowed again in October.

There will be some conditions that can't be overlooked, such as: - having a negative COVID-19 test taken less than 72 hours before your arrival in Lençóis - having a written reservation at an AUTHORIZED hotel / pousada The list of hotels will appear in the official decree to be published in the coming days (if all goes well). I’ll keep you posted with details as soon as possible in the next few days.

Tropical greetings from Salvador,

Of course, the pandemic is now a thing of the past, and Chapada Diamantina National Park (also known as the Brazilian Grand Canyon) is once again 100% open. Local towns like Lençóis, Mucugê, Andaraí, Piata, Igatu, Guiné, and others have taken advantage of this to launch many new attractions and activities. Don’t miss it if you're looking for hiking vacations in a wild and captivating mountainous nature. Tropical greetings from Salvador, @IvanBahiaGuide
