Bref, comment est le printemps suisse en mai? Nous ne comptons pas faire de la randonnée pédestre dans les montagnes.

Cela devait forcément être pendant la 2ème partie du mois de mai, car les 15 premiers jours il a fait un temps détestable et pendant le w-e de l'Ascension, il n'a pas fait chaud, mais le w-e a été un peu moins mauvais que prévu 😉
Et ce sur toute l'Europe, nous ne faisions pas exception.
En fait c'était pile poil mi-mai, je viens de vérifier (j'avais écrit un post sur mon blog, c'est facile!): le dimanche 13 mai 2012, j'étais en t-shirt! Et le 5 mai, je mangeais une fondue en terrasse à Gruyères... Ca c'est de l'info précise, hein? :-p
Je m'en souviens aussi très bien car j'ai passé le w-e de l'Ascension en Provence, où nous avions prévu un après-midi piscine chez des amis et qu'au final, on a été bien contents d'avoir emporté un gros pull 😉
Enfin, tout ça pour dire qu'il peut faire très beau en mai, mais que ce n'est de loin pas assuré. Certains mois de mai sont bien arrosés et si c'est rageant quand on travaille, ça l'est d'autant plus quand on est en vacances 🤪

Cette vague de pluie et températures inférieures à la normale avait touché, l'an dernier, toute l'Europe. Même pas au sud ils n'ont pas été épargnés.
Nous y sommes allés, mais à la mi-juin. Le mauvais temps était passé... Normalement on y va en mai ou en septembre ou octobre. Nous avons donc été chanceux!🙂
Très difficile a dire mais Suisse c'est montagneux ce qui peut rafraichir l'air mais vous serez rendu là il faux régulièrement voir la météo sur http://www.meteomedia.com/fourteenday/szxx0033/table?ref=tabs_14day_table. C'est important d'aller voir cette page à 2 semaines de départ. Ça c'est les conditions pour Zurich la ville où vous allez probablement arriver avec Swiss international airlines.
Vous pouvez commencer a consulter l'adresse que je vous ai donné 2 semaines avant votre départ. Aussi pour le retour est-ce-que vous prenez Swiss aussi? Je me souviens qu'un de mes amis ma reccomandé d'essayer Swiss international airlines en me disant que c'est une bonne compagnie et aussi l'aéroport de Zurich est dans le top 10 des meilleurs aéroports du monde. Au mois de mai ils se peut que la météo vous permet la baignade en Suisse et si c'est le cas allez y foncez. J'ai pu me baigner quelques fois sur l'Ile de Montréal au mois de mai parce-que l'eau était bonne et ça pourrait être la même chose en Suisse on ne sait jamais.

Oui, nous prendrons Swiss Air aller-retour, arrivée et départ de Zurich. Me baigner en Suisse en mai? Hum! Je n'y compte pas! Vous vous êtes baigné à Montréal en mai... dans une piscine d'hôtel ouverte l'hiver aussi?? J'ai connu des mois de mai très doux, mais généralement, il n'y a aucune piscine publique ouverte à cette époque!
En ce qui concerne Zurich, nous y avons fait escale une fois (et nous avons courru pour attraper l'autre avion - pas eu le temps de regarder trop!) sur un vol Montréal-Barcelone. Oui, Swiss Air est préférable à Air Transat et ses vieux coucous!😛... et on l'a eu à bon prix!😏
Moi à Montréal je me suis baigné dans un lac au mois de mais et l'eau était bonne mais ça n'arrive pas à chaque année mais il y a des journées à Montréal au mois de mai où les conditions permettent la baignade mais ce n'est pas toujours le cas.

Effectivement, le climat change beaucoup! Dans quel lac vous êtes-vous baigné en mai? Je me suis mis les pieds à l'eau dans les Adirondaks en octobre, mais c'était une journée particulièrement chaude (et les pieds étaient chauds!), et il était tout petit, le lac!
Lac des Deux-Montagnes et aussi le lac Saint-Louis et ça c'était en mai 2012 l'eau était bonne. De plus vous avez bien fait d'avoir choisi Swiss international airlines puisqu'ils ont une flotte jeune et aussi un bon produit comme par exemple les écouteurs gratuits et aussi j'aimerais savoir le prix du billet puisque j'aimerais moi aussi prendre le même vol que vous pour aller en Suisse.
Nous payons à peu près 850$ pour un billet classe économique. Ce n'est pas cher puis que nous avions choisi d'autres dates (pas du tout éloignées) et c'était bcp plus cher... Tout dépend de la période où vous partez, du jour aussi. L'avion doit décoller à 17 heures, ce sera la 1ère fois que nous partirons à cette heure pour l'Europe (normalement, c'est vers les 19 ou 21 heures). Allez sur le site de Swiss Air et voyez par vous-même la différence de prix selon les jours de la semaine! Les écouteurs, vous les avez aussi sur Air France, sur KLM ainsi que sur British Airways.
L'an dernier, on a eu un hiver particulièrement clément... Je me souviens du temps très doux quelque part en mars. Probablement la raison pour laquelle vous avez pu vous baigner dans le lac des Deux-Montagnes.

Je reçois des promos d'Air France par courriel. Il y avait des promos pour l'Europe, mais ils passaient tous par Charles-DeGaulle, donc plus long!
Le prix que j'ai payé est meilleur que sur l'offre de votre publicité (à peu près 100$ de moins!) et mon vol est direct à l'aller comme au retour. Quant au Airbus 330, il est encore en service? Je l'ai pris avec Air France en mai 2011 (Montréal-Paris, aller-retour). Il me semble qu'il a été retiré de la circulation... J'ai trouvé qu'en classe économique, on est aussi tassé que sur un autre type d'avion équivalent. Quand on fait 7, 8 heures dans un avion et qu'on n'arrive pas à dormir... Un moment donné on pète sa coche. Par contre, la classe affaire, wow! Mais c'est le double du prix et ça, je ne peux pas me le permettre!
P.S. L'avion que nous prendrons pour se rendre en Suisse sera un A-333 (c'est ce qui est prévu, écrit sur le billet électronique) et le prix est de 848.36$ cad par personne.
Air France na pas envoyé d'Airbus a 330 à Montréal en mai 2011 c'était l'Airbus a 380, Boeing 777-300 et 747-400. Mais pour ce qui est de Swiss vous aurez un vol d'une durée supérieure à 7 heures et 8 heures 10 minutes en revenant avec 6 heures de déccalage. Je trouve le prix correct que vous avez payé et aussi j'aime les avions immatriculés dans des pays où l'inspection des voitures est obligatoire je ne sais pas si l'inspection des voitures est obligatoire en Suisse mais s'il y a des forumeurs qui savent qu'ils me fassent signe. Moi Swiss est une compagnie que j'aimerais essayer et savez que Swiss a déjà été dans le même alliance avec British Airways qui était l'alliance One World et maitenant Swiss est passé chez Star alliance après que Lufthansa aie mit 100% des actions sur Swiss en 2006. J'ai quelques photos d'avions don't 2 de Swiss international airlines avec un Airbus a 330-300 et a 340-300 qui pourra être remplacé par un Boeing 747-8 intercontinental. Parfois Swiss vient à Montréal en Airbus a 340-300.
Vous avez raison, c'est l'Airbus A-380 que nous avons pris pour se rendre à Paris en 2011. Et vous avez raison, le temps de vol prévu pour l'aller est de 7h20 minutes et au retour, 8 heures 10 minutes. C'est looong! Mais comme ce n'est pas un vol de nuit, ou de soir, il me semble que ce sera moins prire...

Il me semble que Swiss Air a une allience avec Air Canada aussi. Il me semble bien que nous avons pris un billet Swiss Air pour un voyage à Barcelone, escale à Zurich et c'était finalement sur un avion Air Canada que nous avons volé. C'était en 2008.

Nous regardons aussi pour la Suisse en début mai en raison du prix des billets mais je n'ai pas encore vu de prix si bas que le vôtre. Avez-vous acheté votre billet longtemps d'avance. Je regarde pour Montréal-Genève sans escale avec Air Canada ou Swiss Air car c'est encore directement avec la compagnie d'aviation qu'on a le meilleur coût. En faisant la demande avec les mêmes dates en utilisant le moteur de recherche d'Expédia.ca par exemple on indique 1265$ au lieu de 935$ disons. C'est une différence appréciable.
Ma question pour cette période de l'année serait plutôt concernant les établissements, commerces etc. Est-ce que tout est ouvert en début mai? Les visites agro-touristique par exemple?

Il faut voir que le prix des billets peut changer la journée même, donc les prix varient beaucoup. Nous avons pris notre billet beaucoup d'avance. Je ne me souviens plus de combien de temps, mais vous pouvez continuer à chercher. Nous avons fait Montréal-Zurich direct aller-retour. Suiss Air offrait un spécial le jour où on l'a pris. Et nous sommes passés par une agence de voyage pour acheter le billet d'avion ainsi que la Suiss Pass au même prix que si nous l'avions pris par nous-même.
Nous cherchons d'abord le billet d'avion puis nous trouvons les hôtels ensuite.

Nous n'avons pas fait de visites agrotouristiques, mais vous aurez toute l'information sur le site myswitzerland.
À Lausanne, je vous conseille le Ibis (que nous réservons nous-même sur le site de la chaîne hôtelière). Si vous avez le choix entre un Ibis et un Ibis Budget, choisissez un Ibis. Les «budgets» sont propres, mais l'espace de rangement dans la chambre est très très limité.
Si vous croyez que la Suisse est chère, vous avez raison, et je vous garantie qu'elle est encore + que vous le croyez. 😕
P.S. Si vous désirez passer du temps à Genève, vous pouvez loger à Annemasse, les hôtels sont beaucoup moins chers qu'à Genève, comme tout le reste, d'ailleurs. Et vous pouvez faire d'Annemasse à Genève à pieds.

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.
In between, I’d like to gradually head north to visit some less touristy islands on the Thai coast.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned:
- Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer.
- A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us.
- Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec.
- Ski pants for hikes.
- For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood.
- A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough).
- For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.
I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane?
I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?
Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.
As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
