Nous sommes l'association Sahel People Service (SPS), et nous luttons contre la désertification, et pour l'autonomie alimentaire et financière des familles rurales au Sénégal.
Nous proposons des micro crédits au paysan sahélien afin qu'il constuise un puits à usage agricole. A la signature du contrat, il signe une charte agro écologique, et s'engagent donc à fabriquer du compost, des diguettes anti érosives, des haies, à ne plus mettre de pesticides et engrais chimiques, etc.
Sue place, à Ndiemane à 100 kms au sud de Dakar, nous avons un centre de formation à l'agro écologie, et nous organisons des stages permanents.
Le président Pierre Gevaert retourne en octobre au Sénégal, et à cette occasion, nous aimerions proposer de nouveaux micro crédits, la demande des paysans étant très forte. Pour cela, nous avons besoin de dons. Un puits coûte 450 €, que le paysan rembourse en trois ans. Sachez que ce que vous donnez, une fois remboursé par le paysan est réinvesti dans un autre puits.

Je me pose une question, vous parlez de creuser des puis au Sénégal, mais est-ce que ça vaut vraiment la peine? Y a t'il assez d'eau dans les sous sol pour pouvoir faire une agriculture de longue durée? En effet, si les ressources en eau dans les sous sol sont faible, il serait peut-être plus judicieux de l'utiliser uniquement pour boire.
J'ai été faire un tour sur votre site, il m'a l'air fort interressant et il répond a plusieurs questions que je me posais. Je ne connaissais pas votre président Pierre Gevaert qui semble connu, je trouve que sa réflexion d'ensemble est intelligente et va dans un sens durable.

Il y a effectivement assez d'eau au Sénégal et au Sahel en général pour y construire des puits à des fins agricoles. Cependant, il est très important de faire de l'agro écologie et non de l'agriculture chimique. En effet, le fait de créer des diguettes anti érosives permet de retenir l'eau qui peut alors pénétrer dans les sols, plutôt que de raviner vers la mer.
Les paysans n'utilisent pas non plus de pompes, justement pour ne pas épuiser le sous-sol.
Nous venons de définir le nombre puits que nous allons creuser d'octobre 2007 à septembre 2008. Les résultats sur les 24 puits de cette année sont très positifs, et la demande des paysans très forte.
Nous allons donc signer 200 contrats de puits, mais pas plus, afin de pouvoir assurer un suivi et les formations tout au long de l'année, afin que ce projet réussisse. De cette manière, nous espérons à terme travailler à la reforestation du Sahel sur de grandes surfaces.

I’m a volunteer leader at a youth center (MJC), and we’ve been deeply moved by everything happening in Madagascar—extreme poverty, endangered animals, deforestation, and so on. Plus, one of our teens has a Malagasy friend, so our group wants to travel there next year.
Throughout this year, they’ve planned fundraisers to collect donations (sheets, dish towels, schoolbooks, hygiene products, etc.) and funds to cover their trip and stay.
They’re really motivated and generous—they already volunteer in schools and senior centers, and they’re always welcomed warmly.
But so far, they haven’t found any organizations in Madagascar willing to host them for two weeks (orphanages, schools, animal protection parks, etc.).
Does anyone know of any contacts, please?

Hello, we’d like to travel as a family to Madagascar (2 parents, 2 kids aged 10 and 12). A first trip over 15 years ago completely amazed and moved me with its beauty, kindness, and life experiences—but also its poverty and hardship. That’s why I think it’s possible to introduce our kids to this island while also doing something useful through volunteering. The window is short—15 days in March 2020—which means avoiding the north and east of the island due to cyclones and focusing on the south instead. Some ecovolunteering projects exist online, but the cost is sometimes prohibitive, and kids are rarely accepted. Do you have any ideas or contacts? Thanks in advance!
